Chapter 111: Why Does Evelyn Wants To Leave(2)

Rex didn’t agree with what Regan thought but Regan still wanted to confirm. He had a huge hunch that Evelyn’s will of leaving Mazic was involved with this man’s appearance.

Because nothing that could cause the sudden change in her happened in the past few days.

At this moment, he was standing outside Evelyn’s room.

The doors were closed and Regan couldn’t find the courage to open them. He was afraid that if he went inside and talked to her then she would again talk about leaving.

He had told her that she had her own free will now. She could do whatever she wanted. But now, it was he only who was stopping her and made her realize that even if she didn’t have that black band on her wrist, the coins with which he had brought her were a debt on her.

As much as he felt guilty, Regan didn’t regret it.

How could he just let her leave! Especially now when he had guessed that there were some other reasons behind her sudden will of leaving.

Regan sighed as he touched the door once before he turned around and left those corridors.

After a few moments, he left the castle with Elias.

He was going to the shop owner’s home in front of whose shop all that happened. He was going to inquire deeply about this man.

It was nighttime.

The doors of the house, in front of which Regan was standing with Elias and two other soldiers, were closed.

Regan looked at Elias who stepped forward to knock on the door.

Regan knew that it was not the time to disturb someone. But he just couldn’t stop himself. He wanted to find out what had scared Evelyn so much.

And it was not that late at night. He hoped that the family was still awake.

Elias had just knocked on the door. However, the next moment, a loud shout and then a painful groan came from inside.

Regan came out of his thoughts immediately and was on alert.

Elias also looked surprised and confused.

However, the next moment, he and Regan both were looking at the wall from where a man jumped out of the house in a swift move.

"Stop there!"

Regan said coldly.

The man was wearing completely black clothes and his face was covered and he indeed stopped when he heard someone’s voice but the next moment, he ran away from there.

Regan looked at the two soldiers and the latter immediately made a run toward the running figure.

"Knock, Elias."

After that, Elias immediately knocked on the door loudly. At the same time, he took out his sword ready to attack if there were more such invaders inside.

A few moments passed and the door didn’t open. Voices could be heard inside the house but no one was opening the door.

"Break it."

Regan ordered and Elias nodded his head.

Just when he had raised his leg to break the door, the door opened suddenly. It was a woman who opened the door

The woman must have been afraid as he opened the door only slightly and looked at Regan and Elias with apprehension-filled eyes.

Looking at unfamiliar faces, she looked afraid and asked

"Who?"

Elias could see that the woman was scared so he said gently

"Lady, we are here from the castle. We just saw someone coming out of your house. Is everything alright?"

Elias was not a fool to reveal their identity so smoothly. He had a doubt that more invaders could be inside and only god knew what they were here for.

His first and foremost priority was his master.

The woman looked relieved when she heard Elias’ words and suddenly opened the door widely.

"You are from the castle?"

She asked again and when Elias nodded his head, she continued with a pale face.

"I don’t know what happened. I was sleeping inside my room and my husband had been preparing a few things for the shop in the courtyard. I suddenly heard his shout and came to the yard only to find him. He is bleeding."

"Y...yes I need to find a doctor."

The woman said suddenly. It could be seen that she was very terrified by whatever happened that she couldn’t even think straight.

When she heard the knock, she had not wanted to open the door. However, after seeing the wound on her husband’s forehead she knew that she also needed to find a doctor for him. So she had to open the door after some time.

Thinking about her husband, her eyes started to fill with tears.

Seeing this, Regan looked at Elias and ordered

"Bring a doctor, Elias."

"But, Your Highness..."

Elias didn’t want to leave his master alone but one cold stare from Regan was enough to make him shut his mouth. His master wants him to go.

Elias sighed and left to bring a doctor.

The woman who had heard Regan looked at him in a daze and whispered

"Thank you."

Regan merely nodded his head and asked

"Can I see your husband?"

The woman nodded her head and then moved away from the door to let him step inside the house.

After locking the door carefully with her trembling hands, she followed Regan inside.

A man was lying on the floor in the wide open yard under the candlelight. His forehead was bleeding.

Seeing this, the woman was more panicked and immediately ran to fetch some warm water and cloth.

She could at least try to stop the bleeding.

Regan stood near the man. He knew that the man would be fine once his wound would be bandaged properly. There was no need to fear.

However, his eyes fell on something lying on the floor and he walked to it.

He picked a dagger from the floor which shone under the candlelight. Regan’s eyes narrowed as he traced the sign on the dagger’s handle.

An eagle was engraved on it.

It seemed that the man who just run out of the house had actually wanted to kill this shopkeeper. However, since he heard the knock made by Elias, he couldn’t complete his work.

But why did he want to kill this shopkeeper?
