The Masked prince -
Chapter 113: Fear And Pain
Chapter 113: Fear And Pain
After leaving Regan’s chambers, Evelyn went to her room straight. A part of her mind remembered that Hannah, Miri, and Ami had told her that they would gather in the garden today in the back of the castle.
However, she didn’t have the courage or any thought of going anywhere.
At this moment, the only place she found herself to be safe was her room.
She locked the door carefully and checked it again and again as if she didn’t trust herself. After that, she walked to her bed and lay down there.
Covering her body properly with the blanket, Evelyn closed her eyes as she tried to find some sleep.
Prince’s words suddenly flashed in her mind and Evelyn felt a twinge of pain inside her heart instantly.
What might be he thinking?
Evelyn wondered.
Did he feel used?
He freed her from the stigma of her life...this slavery and as soon as she was free, she said that she wanted to leave.
Had she not said that she wanted to stay by his side regardless of what she would have to face? She was such a hypocrite.
She was selfish.
Evelyn’s eyes were closed yet tears slid down from them.
She was indeed selfish. Yes, she could face anything but not that man.
That man terrified her to the core.
Evelyn had expected that she would have to pass the whole night sleeplessly. However, soon after she fell into a deep slumber.
Perhaps her mind was too tired after suffering from so many emotions in a day. The walk in the market of Mazic had not been any short, hence her body was also tired.
However, the little bit of peace didn’t last long.
She was woken up by a soft touch on her cheek. In the moment of confusion, she opened her eyes and found a pair of eyes staring at herself. The face of the owner of those eyes stayed blurry and covered with darkness.
Only half of it could be seen under the moonlight and as soon as the scene in front of her eyes cleared, Evelyn breathings got stuck in her throat.
"Evelyn..."
The deep gentle voice only stimulated more darkness in her heart and mind.
He was caressing her cheeks with her long and slender fingers.
Evelyn’s eyes started to fill with tears because of the suffocation and fear she felt. Her body was trembling. Her throat was clogged and it ached very badly.
It must be a dream.
She thought as she tried to find some relief. However, the coldness of the finger on her cheek felt so real that she couldn’t even comfort herself with that.
"Evelyn...how could you run away from there? I almost went crazy when I couldn’t find you. I thought seeing you after so many years had just been my dream."
The man whispered in his deep gentle voice.
Both of his hands now held her face and his whole body rested on hers. She felt more suffocated under his weight.
"Evelyn, say something...I wish to hear your beautiful and soft voice."
He whispered again ...so gently that would have certainly made many girls’ heartbeat race, but not Evelyn’s. Because she knew the real darkness behind this gentleness.
"A...way..."
She finally whispered as she tried to breathe and tried to push him away from herself. However, as if he couldn’t see her struggle, the man continued to hold her. Instead, his grip on her cheeks tightened squeezing her face.
Evelyn whimpered in pain yet he didn’t loosen his grip. Instead, there was a smile on his lips as he whispered
"Anything but not this, Evelyn. I have risked my life by coming here just to see you and that’s how you are treating me. Now that is not something I was looking forward to."
Evelyn’s tears fell down vigorously.
The current him scared her so much that she struggled furiously despite all the pain he inflicted on her.
"Stop it."
He said sharply making her tremble as he held her tightly and pressed her down with his body. The thing that she felt abnormal on the lower part of her body made Evelyn feel disgusted. She was so disgusted that she could feel a bile rising inside her throat.
"Since you don’t know how to welcome me. Let me teach you.
He whispered again in his gentle voice.
Evelyn saw him leaning towards her lips. She closed her eyes helplessly as all the strength left her body.
It was just at that moment that the door opened. And it was the same scene Regan saw inside the room.
Evelyn had been so lost in her helplessness that she didn’t even hear the sound of the door being opened.
However, the man who was lying on her body did hear it. To get inside the room, he had broken the lock. He didn’t think that it was really important to lock it again.
They said that she was a maid in the castle. Who would look for her in the night! He had thought so he had let it go!
Combined with that the eagerness to finally see her again had made him careless.
"Evelyn!"
Regan shouted loudly when he saw a figure lying on Evelyn’s body.
It was only then Evelyn opened her eyes. As if she had found someone to save her, Evelyn shouted immediately
"Your Highness..."
The man looked down at her. There was no smile on his lips and his eyes were emotionless.
Seeing her so relieved of someone else’s presence didn’t settle well with him. A moment later, his eyes narrowed as he remembered how she called out to the man.
So it was a prince.
But what was he doing here at such late hours? Once the thought settled in his mind, his grip on Evelyn’s hand tightened to the extent that Evelyn cried out loudly.
The next moment, the pain disappeared
Because Regan picked the man who was lying on Evelyn’s body with the collar of his robe and threw him down the bed.
The man had not expected this sudden move. He was in shock for a moment as if trying to remember the last time someone dared to lay their hand on him.
Then he looked towards Regan who was moving towards him with even more anger radiating from his body.
