Chapter 110: Why Does Evelyn Wants To Leave(1)

Evelyn left after Regan asked her to leave.

Now there was utter silence inside the chambers. Regan’s eyes were on the documents in his hands but Rex could swear that his attention was anywhere but on them.

Rex was also left confused by the sudden events.

He, however, knew that he would have to handle the things otherwise Regan might do something wrong in his anger and hurt.

A moment later, he turned to look at Elias who still looked shocked ...perhaps because of what Evelyn said or perhaps because of how Regan just pointed out that Evelyn had been bought from the coins as a slave.

It was indeed shocking as Regan had never treated Evelyn as a slave. But today he suddenly pointing out such a thing. However, Rex knew that it was Regan’s anger which had been speaking and not his true emotions.

Rex signed Elias to leave and the latter did as he was told but not before glancing at his master once. It could be seen that he was concerned about his master.

After Elias had left, Rex silently walked to the bed and sat by his brother’s side. He didn’t say anything for a long time ...at least not until Regan suddenly threw away the documents in his hands.

Rex finally looked at him and saw nothing but frustration and pain in Regan’s eyes.

"Regan..."

He called out in concern and Regan immediately said

"She wants to leave, Rex. She wants to leave Mazic, this castle and ...me."

The mere words made Regan feel immense pain in his heart. He had never thought that Evelyn had such a huge effect on him.

Closing his eyes, he cursed himself for behaving like this.

How could he be so weak!

"Has she been planning all this while?"

Regan suddenly wondered out loud. In his hurt, he was thinking anything. But why was it that a large part of his heart was not just ready to accept the things in front of him?

As if ....

"I think there is more to it."

Rex suddenly said what Regan was thinking inside his heart.

Rex’s words made Regan look at him swiftly.

Rex put his hand on his brother’s shoulder as he tried to make him understand.

"Just this morning, she looked excited to buy you a gift, Regan. I had seen it. I had seen it in her eyes. There must be a reason that she suddenly came here and said that she wants to leave. We should first investigate before blaming Evelyn, Regan"

Rex just said what was blurry in Regan’s heart because of the pain and hurt he was feeling.

Regan’s red eyes had a firmness in them as he nodded his head and whispered

"You are right."

Evelyn’s words flashed in his mind. She had said that she wanted to stay with him regardless of what she would have to face.

She had been so unwilling to leave him and Mazic just a few days ago then why would she suddenly demand to leave?

There must be something that he didn’t know.

"She went out of the castle this morning. Could it be that something happened in the market?"

Rex frowned as he said.

Regan was thinking the same.

He didn’t delay even for a moment before he summoned Henry and ordered him to call the two soldiers he had sent to protect Evelyn in the market.

Henry was fast.

Within a few moments, the two soldiers were standing in front of Regan.

"Did something happen in the market today?"

Regan asked them directly.

The two soldiers stood respectfully with their heads bowed. One of them answered Regan’s question.

"Answering Your Highness’ question, we were slightly late in reaching Lady Evelyn. When we found Lady, we only saw her running out of a street in panic and fear."

Regan’s forehead immediately had a deep frown when he heard this and Rex looked no different.

What happened in the market to make Evelyn so afraid that she was running out of the street?

"Why was I not informed of this?"

Regan asked coldly. The two soldiers bowed their heads lower as they said

"Your Highness, We followed Lady to the castle. After ensuring that she was inside the castle, we went back to the street and inquired about what happened in the street. From there, we got to know from a shopkeeper that a man had suddenly grabbed Lady and claimed to know her. However, Lady Evelyn looked panicked to see the man. The people in street concluded that she didn’t know the man and helped her in getting free of the man. Then she ran away from the street. Your Highness, we thought that Lady Evelyn was just scared and would be fine after some time so we didn’t think that it was necessary to inform..."

"Who asked you to use your brain?"

Regan asked coldly and the soldier could only shut his mouth and stand there silently.

"Did I not say that I was to be informed if anything happens to her?"

The soldier didn’t have any answer to this question. He had actually not thought that something like his would be important for the prince to hear.

Perhaps Rex could understand his thoughts. After all, not many people knew what Regan felt for Evelyn. So how could the soldier have predicted that Regan would want to know this?

So he dismissed the soldiers to save them from Regan’s wrath.

After the soldiers had left, Regan turned to look at Rex and asked

"Could it be that this man is the reason that Evelyn suddenly wants to run away?"

Rex frowned in reply. A moment later, he shook his head and said

"It is also possible that Evelyn was just scared."

Regan however didn’t seem to agree much with Rex. After so many days, he recognized Evelyn’s nature. She was not so a coward to get scared of such a small incident.

There was something big.

"It is also possible that this man is the source of her fear."

He whispered as his red eyes shone with coldness.

Because if it was true. Then he must find this man to eradicate Evelyn’s fears.
