Chapter 109: Evelyn Wants To Leave

Regan had been waiting for Evelyn inside his chambers with Elias and Rex when she finally stepped inside the chambers.

Elias sighed in relief when he saw her.

He was dying of hunger and wanted to start eating. However, when he said his thoughts out loud, his master stared at him coldly and asked him to wait for Evelyn.

Elias felt wronged but decided to wait for Evelyn. Anyway, it was good. They have been having their dinner together in the past few days.

"Evelyn, come fast. The food is getting cold."

Elias said hurriedly when he saw Evelyn walking so slowly.

Regan glanced at him and he shut his mouth before smiling sheepishly. Evelyn finally reached the dining table and sat down on her usual seat.

Seeing that she was seated, Elias didn’t waste a single second in picking the spoon and serving the meal on his plate.

Rex also started his dinner.

Regan was serving himself but his eyes would go to Evelyn in every few seconds.

He frowned when he saw that she had not raised her head all along.

What was wrong? His eyes unconsciously found Rex. Surprisingly or unsurprisingly, Rex had also noticed this peculiar behavior of Evelyn.

When he saw his brother’s frown, he blinked in assurance and signed him to have his dinner.

Regan did as Rex signed but he was still worried about Evelyn.

Could it be that she is worried about whether she would like the gift or not? Regan suddenly concluded knowing Evelyn’s nature.

And he suddenly sighed in helplessness.

What was the need to worry so much?

He wanted to tell her that he would love whatever she would gift him. But if he said that, then she would get to know that he knew and she might feel disappointed.

Thinking this, Regan could only stay silent.

Today, they finished their dinner in silence.

When the dinner was finished, Hannah had already come to take the empty plates away. She had thought that Evelyn must have been wishing to give the gift to the prince so she should help her in at least these minor works.

Before leaving, Hannah leaned closer to Evelyn for a moment and whispered

"Go for it, Evelyn. All the best."

Then she hurriedly left the chambers before anyone could notice her movements.

Regan didn’t show as if he knew everything and was excited about his gift. He calmly walked to the bed and sat there with his usual documents in his hands.

However, all his senses were on Evelyn who was standing a few steps away from the bed.

Rex was also wishing to see what Evelyn would gift his brother. Actually, he wanted to see what his brother’s reaction to the gift.

So he also took a seat on the comfy couch in the chambers and picked up a book. While Elias took his usual place where he was sharpening the swords.

Regan waited and waited. But he didn’t sense Evelyn moving towards him. Just when he was finding his patience thinning away, Evelyn finally walked to him.

And when she was in front of him, she put a pouch in front of him.

Regan picked up the pouch thinking that inside was a gift for him. However, when opened it, he found a few copper coins inside.

A frown of confusion marred his forehead as he looked at the coins and then at Evelyn.

"Evelyn, what is this?"

Could it be that she didn’t find anything suitable so she was presenting him with coins and asking her to buy something on his own?

The idea filled Regan with amusement.

However, all his amusement vanished away when he heard Evelyn say

"Your Highness, I don’t know just how many coins Your Highness had bought me for but I have only these many. Your Highness, please accept them and allow me to leave from here."

There was nothing but silence inside the chambers.

Regan was silently staring at Evelyn as if wondering whether what he heard was wrong.

Rex had already stood up from the couch he was seated on and looking at Evelyn with confusion-filled eyes and Elias had stopped sharpening the sword.

Evelyn’s head was still lowered.

It was after a long time that Regan finally asked

"What did you say?"

Evelyn was silent for a moment. It gave Regan hope that she would change her words. However, he realized that he was wrong as he heard her say again

"I wish to leave Mazic, Your Highness."

"Evelyn..."

It was Rex who stepped forward this time and asked

"What is wrong? Did something happen?"

This morning they had just talked and she wanted to buy a gift for Regan. Why was she talking about leaving so suddenly?

However, to his question, Evelyn had only one answer

"Everything is alright. I just wish to leave, Your Highness."

On the other hand, Regan’s face was completely cold and expressionless. His eyes staring at Evelyn didn’t have anything as he looked at the small pouch in his hands.

Is that why she looked so happy on seeing the money? Had she wanted to leave all along? Regan felt a burning pain inside his chest when thought this.

The next moment, he said coldly

"Do you think that these coins are enough?"

The next moment, he threw the pouch away on the floor and looked at her lowered head again only to continue.

"I bought you using gold coins. Gold coins. Do you understand?"

Rex was looking at Regan with shock-filled eyes. He signed his brother to stop speaking but Regan’s heart was filled with too much anger.

How could she talk about leaving so smoothly!

Even if she didn’t love him, does she not even consider him close enough to feel any sympathy or concern for him?

Evelyn’s body was stiff all over when she heard the prince’s words. A moment later, she bent her knees...after so many days in front of Regan and said respectfully

"Yes, Your Highness."

Regan didn’t look at her anymore as he picked up his documents while saying coldly.

"Good. You can leave."
