Chapter 108: Regan Eager To See His Gift

The next moment the man suddenly who was holding Evelyn’s arm held both of her arms and dragged her closer as he asked her

"Evelyn, do you not recognize me? How can you talk to me like that! I have been looking for you for so many years. Every day, every minute I was just remembering you, wondering where you are."

Evelyn didn’t feel any sympathy at those words.

Her heart could feel the only one thing and that was fear.

The shopkeeper who was silently watching everything up till now finally felt that there was something wrong with the girl’s reaction.

Though the man looked as if he recognized the girl, the girl was not behaving like this.

So he stepped forward and walked to the man holding the girl.

"You gentleman, the girl is asking you to leave her. You should do what she is saying."

The shopkeeper said firmly.

The man however looked at the shopkeeper so sharply that for a moment, the shopkeeper was forced to step back.

"It is none of your business. So stay out of it."

The man said in an icy cold voice.

The shopkeeper was indeed afraid for a moment but when he saw the girl’s cold face, he gathered his courage and started shouting.

"You look like a gentleman to me but you are not behaving like one, Young Man. I say leave the girl otherwise I will call the Royal soldiers. They always stay around these days."

The man didn’t leave Evelyn regardless of how much the shopkeeper shouted.

His eyes were fixed on Evelyn’s face and he had a smile on his lips as he stared at her. However, Evelyn was just trying to come out of his hold.

She was feeling as if she would fall down on the floor any moment but she didn’t want that to happen.

As long as she was awake, there was still a chance to run away from him.

The shopkeeper’s shout didn’t have any effect on the man but it certainly attracted the people in the street.

A huge crowd gathered immediately and when the shopkeeper explained the situation, a few men stepped forward and tried to drag the man away from the girl.

The man holding Evelyn frowned and held her tightly. Evelyn’s tears fell down furiously as she struggled harder.

It was a long struggle but the few men were finally able to drag him away from her.

When she saw that he was surrounded by the men, she didn’t think anything and ran away from there at the fastest speed she could.

Evelyn didn’t know for how long she ran. But she only stopped when she reached the castle gates.

As soon as the castle gates opened, she again ran inside and ran until she reached her own room.

Once inside her room, she locked the door carefully and then even locked the window of her room.

She then moved toward a corner of her room and sat down there. Her eyes were filled with shock, fear, and panic.

What was he doing here?

She suddenly remembered what he had said. He had been looking for her all these years. Evelyn felt cold all over her body and her body trembled furiously as those words flashed in her ears.

But how did he come to know that she was here?

She didn’t know anything.

All she knew was that she just wanted to run away.

Run away somewhere far where he would never find her again. Somewhere she would be safe.

And one thing was certain.

She was no longer safe in Mazic.

As she thought this, tears fell down from her eyes one by one.

It hurts. But she needed to make the decision.

Regan only received the news that Evelyn had returned to the castle when he was having his lunch. It was Ami who told him this.

Even Ami didn’t see Evelyn. However, a few maids had told her that they had seen Evelyn running inside her room.

Though it made Ami feel strange, she didn’t think much about it.

She just thought that Evelyn might be trying to hide whatever she had bought for the prince. Hannah had told her that Evelyn had gone to the market, especially for this purpose.

Regan merely nodded his head suppressing the excitement inside his heart. However, Rex could clearly see this and patted his shoulder as if indicating him to calm down silently.

Before Ami left, Regan asked her to send Evelyn’s lunch to her room.

She must be tired after spending so much time in the market. She should rest. So he decided to leave her alone for some time.

Hence, it was during the dinner that Regan finally decided to ask Miri who had come with the dinner in his chambers to go and call for Evelyn.

Miri left the chambers and went to Evelyn’s room.

She knocked on the door. When the door didn’t open after some time, Miri frowned in confusion and wondered if Evelyn was still sleeping.

In the afternoon, she had heard Ami mentioning that Evelyn had been asleep and the door of her room was locked so she could not give her the lunch.

Thinking this, Miri called out Evelyn’s name loudly

"Evelyn! Wake up. It’s night. You need to eat something."

Miri waited. Just when she was thinking that she should go and tell the prince about this, the door opened finally.

"Evelyn, His Highness is calling you into his chambers."

Miri saw Evelyn’s lowered head and told her. Evelyn didn’t raise her head and merely hummed. Then a moment later, she said

"You can go. I will go there on my own."

Miri thought that Evelyn’s voice was slightly different but then she thought that it must be because Evelyn had been sleeping.

Hence, she didn’t ask for anything anymore and left from there.

After Miri left, Evelyn went to her almirah, picked up the pouch of remaining coins, and then left her room.
