Chapter 104: A Traitor Inside The Castle
While leaving for the border, Evelyn had carried the money she had gathered in the two salaries she had received up till now.
It had been Evelyn’s first time to buy things using her own so she was very unknown regarding the prices of the things. Fortunately, Elias helped her.
The man even taught her to how to reduce the price of things by bargaining with the shopkeeper. Evelyn found it so exciting that after learning once, the next two times she did it on her own and she felt a special achievement even when she was able to save one coin because of the constant bargaining.
Anyway, she loved her money very much. But she also wanted to buy something for her friends. They had been very nice to her since she had entered the castle.
"Evelyn, this is a very beautiful dress."
Ami whispered as she caressed the soft cloth. The cloth was very soft and she wondered if she had touched anything else which was so thin as well as so soft.
Evelyn smiled upon hearing this.
She looked at Miri and found her looking at the hairpin in her hands with a cheerful smile on her lips.
"Ah...this is so beautiful. I will protect it from my heart and soul, Evelyn."
Evelyn didn’t know whether to laugh or cry hearing these words. But she felt happy to see how she was treasuring the gift given by her.
Then she looked at Hannah to find a small pout on her lips.
Evelyn smiled and heard Hannah say
"Where is my gift?"
She whined more likely. Evelyn, however, continued to smile and said
"I will give it to you but it will be on yours and Henry’s marriage."
Hannah blushed instantly when she heard that. She didn’t have any family. So when Henry had told her that her mother wanted to talk about her marriage to one of her family members, she just presented Martha in front of Henry’s mother.
It was also true that they were going to marry soon.
At the mention of her marriage, Hannah forgot all her grudges and said shyly
"All right then. Don’t forget."
Ami and Miri rolled their eyes when they saw her like this and didn’t leave the chance to tease her.
After a few words, Hannah frowned and said to her friends.
"Why are you targeting me? There is Evelyn for you. Tease her. See His Highness even bought such a beautiful coat for our Evelyn. I did say that he was slightly upset since she was harmed and now he is again..."
Hannah stopped amidst her words when she unconsciously glanced at Evelyn and saw a deep frown on her forehead.
So she stopped speaking.
Ami and Miri also noticed that. In the past few weeks, they realized that Evelyn didn’t like it when they tried to tease her with the prince. There would always be fear in her eyes when she would scold them and ask them not to do such a thing again.
They couldn’t understand her fears but they had obliged with what she had said ...except Hannah.
Ami and Miri glanced at Hannah with their lips pressed in a thin line.
Hannah also felt uncomfortable seeing the upset expression on Evelyn’s face. She smiled sheepishly and explained
"I mean...Evelyn, did you buy something for His Highness?"
The frown disappeared from Evelyn’s forehead and she looked at Hannah in a daze.
Hannah felt successful and continued
"You see...His Highness has been so good to you. So you should gift him something as well."
Evelyn blinked and thought silently.
Indeed, what Hannah said was correct. The prince had been so good to her but she didn’t give him anything in return.
Hannah knew that Evelyn was thinking about this and sighed in relief.
On the other hand, Ami looked out at the sky and climbed down from the bed as she said
"I will leave then. James must be waiting for me."
Hannah sighed when she saw Ami leaving. She wondered when those days would come when she would be able to say
’Henry must be waiting for me.’
As if Miri knew what she was thinking about seeing her red face, she hit her arm and said
"Don’t you need to leave?"
Hannah came out of her trance and rubbed her arm as she stuck out her tongue at Miri before she climbed down from the bed.
Miri didn’t mind Hannah’s childish behavior and said to Evelyn.
"Then we will leave, Evelyn, and thanks for the gift."
Evelyn smiled and accompanied them to the door of her room. After they had disappeared from the corridor, she closed the doors of her room and walked to her almirah. From there, she took out the small pouch and counted the coins she was left with.
She still had fifteen coins. Would they be enough to buy something nice for the prince?
Evelyn wondered silently. But as she thought about this, she came across another problem.
What should she buy for the prince? The prince doesn’t lack anything.
Evelyn sighed as she put the pouch coins back in the almirah and then walked back to the bed.
Should she even buy something for the prince?
Lying on the bed, Evelyn thought about all these questions. It was after a long time that she finally fell into a deep slumber.

Inside Regan’s chambers, Rex was seated on the bed with Regan and Elias was standing in front of them.
"So it is someone inside the castle who let them inside."
Regan said as she stared at nothing in particular with very cold red eyes.
Rex merely hummed.
After the invasion that day, many things happened one after another and he didn’t get the chance to investigate how exactly those invaders had entered the castle. It was finally today that he decided to take a few people and explore every hook and nook of the castle.
Rex had been doing this for the past two days as the castle was very huge. And today he finally found a huge hole in a wall of the castle, which was built in the back.
The hole was huge enough that a man could crawl inside through it.
