Chapter 481: 480. Someone By My Side (4)

Sol sat quietly in his seat while Cesio placed the plate of strawberry and chocolate short cakes in front of them.

"I didn’t know what you would like and I got to know that these are pretty popular sweets in town." Cesio said, "If you don’t like them then-"

"It’s fine," Ocean spoke before he picked up both the short cakes and placed them before Sol.

Sol looked at him for a moment before he picked up the fork and started eating. Ocean observed him before sneaking away the slice of strawberry on the short cakes making Sol stare at him. Ocean simply smiled before he looked at Cesio.

"So, how are you doing these days, Cesio?"

Cesio smiled, "I’m well in health by your grace, Lord Dragon."

Ocean smiled. They started talking while Sol finished the cakes and then hopped off his chair walking towards the large statue in the hall.

Ocean glanced at him once before he turned back to Cesio.

Sol stared at the face of the Saintess which was carved quite rather precision here unlike the Saintess’ face from the outer hall. That statue only had the edge of the nose along with the full lips and a faint jawline visible. But this Saintess was clear, her face, her features were carved as if one had seen the Saintess in front of them and even the Dragon was of a different kind. While the Dragon outside seemed with rather smooth features, this one had morw choppy looking body, as if it didn’t have a solid body but a form of flowy form which enveloped the praying maiden.

He could see that both the Saintesses and the Dragons from outside and here were different.

Sol couldn’t help but ask, "Who is this?"

Cesio turned his head and smiled before making his way to Sol, "This is Saintess Miella and the water Dragon who saved our Denril four years ago from a demon."

Sol frowned a bit before his eyes flickered over to Ocean who still sat at the table watching them with his elbow dropped over the table and his cheek resting over his palm.

There was a knowing look which passed between them before Sol turned away. Cesio went on explaining about the great Dragon and the Saintess’ selflessness while Sol listened quietly.

After a while, Ocean stood up and moved over to Sol.

"Cesio, it’s time we take our leave now." Ocean said and Cesio face fell.

"What? So, quickly?" He asked and Ocean smiled.

"I just came to see how you were doing, since you’re well and healthy, I’m relieved." Ocean said making Cesio’s smile to deepen.

Cesio then turned his head down at Sol before he sat on his knees.

"I thank you again, for coming to see me, Lord Dragon." He said and then reached his hand out stopping midair.

Sol stared at his hand before holding it with both of his hands, Cesio inhaled deeply before he smiled.

"I had my doubt but it really is you, Lord Dragon... It’s been a while... I... have held onto my hope and strength as you told me."

Ocean’s eyes stayed fixed on Sol while he firmly kept his eyes down on Cesio.

"Your mana seems weaker this time but since you are with our savior, I’m sure, you shall be freed of your ailments." Cesio said making Sol’s eyes to go further down as he bit down on his lips.

Ocean had a doubt but now it was cleared, Sol and he had met previously. If he wasn’t wrong then Sol was the little boy who had helped him when the demon possessed his body. And it was also Sol who blessed Cesio with the Eyes of Perception.

Ocean didn’t ask right away as he knew he had plenty of opportunities to do so, but then again, would Sol answer honestly or not, was still the question.

The two Dragons left the inner sanctum after that and neither of them spoke anything. After walking for a bit they heard the sound of a pair of footsteps that were rapidly rushing in their direction.

It didn’t seem like a hostile presence but rather be familiar ones who made a corner of Ocean’s lips curl up before he stepped ahead. NovelFire

Just as they rounded the corner, one of those two ran straight up into Ocean’s feet while the other screeched to a stop but because they were close behind even the second person collided with the other two.

"Ouch."

"Owie."

The two groaned and Ocean smiled looked at the two children who looked like they were around five, one boy, one girl with bright lavender hair and sharp blue eyes.

The two looked at up at Ocean who smiled and got on his knee before them.

"My, my, I’m really sorry, are you two all right?"

The kids looked at each other, their cheeks flushed before they shook the book shook his head.

"We-We’re sorry, we were running like that that’s why we ran into you... Are you all right?" He asked and Ocean’s smile warmed up.

He knew these kids, these were Asher’s niece and nephew, Lucius and Elle. Although, Ocean didn’t expect o run into them here today.

"I’m all right," Ocean said before he looked around finding no adult around them, "Besides, are you two lost?"

The kids glanced at each other, they had held each other’s hands and Ocean could see the anxious expressions on their faces which gave the answer.

"If you’re looking for your parents then, this isn’t the right way. This corridor leads to the inner sanctum and the residences of the priests. The prayer hall is in that direction," Ocean said pointing behind them and the kids’ faces brightened up.

"Thank you, Mister-" Lucius spoke and Ocean smiled before reaching out to Elle.

She stared at his hand before she looked at her brother.

"My name is Ocean Ryujin,"

"Ah, I’m Lucius and this is my sister Elle." Lucius introduced his sister and Ocean nodded, his hand still hanging before Elle.

"Um... What might you want, Mister?" Lucius asked and Ocean gestured at Elle’s right knee.

Though her dressed was long enough to cover her knees but the scent of blood and Ocean’s sharp gazes allowed him to see her skinned knee.

"You’re hurt, little lady. Would you mind if I take a look?" Ocean asked in a soft tone.

Elle flushed before she almost hid behind her brother and Ocean smiled.

"If you don’t feel comfortable showing me then, here," Ocean pulled out his kerchief.

"At least tie it around your knee, it’s bleeding. It must hurt."

Lucius hesitantly took the kerchief while Ocean sat in his place watching as Lucius tried to wrap it around his sister’s knee.

She whimpered and clutched the fabric of her dress which made Ocean sigh, it was obvious that Lucius wasn’t used to doing this.

"Young Master, would you mind if I help?" Ocean offered and Lucius after realising he wasn’t able to do it properly stepped aside.

Ocean held the edges of the kerchief before looking up at Elle with a smile, "Little Lady, were you and your brother playing when you fell and got hurt?"

Elle hummed squeezing her eyes shut while Ocean’s fingers moved swiftly as he asked, "Are you here with your mother and father?"

She hummed again while Lucius hovered over Ocean’s shoulder.

"You have quite a pretty voice, little lady." Ocean said and she slowly opened her eyes making him smile.

"Ah, now you’re looking at me." He said and she pursed her lips looking shy.

"You must really love playing with your brother, hm?" Ocean asked and she nodded.

"Yes,"

Ocean smiled as he tied the final knot making sure to not make the bandaging too tight and easier enough to move around in.

"There, done." Ocean announced making Elle to look down at her knee.

The kids then noticed Sol who stood behind Ocean quietly and Lucius asked.

"Wh-Who is he?"

Ocean looked back at Sol and said, "Go on, introduce yourself."

Sol looked slightly taken aback but he answered, "Sol."

"Sol," Lucius repeated while Ocean looked at Elle who still seemed like she was in pain.

"Does your brother take you to different places and shares his snacks with you?" Ocean asked her and she nodded.

"He takes me out for tea parties with him... But he doesn’t share his cakes." She answered making Lucius’ face heat up.

"Wait, I-I do share." Lucius stuttered.

"You don’t. Liar! Don’t lie big brother!" Elle spoke rather firmly in a chiding tone which made Ocean chuckle.

"All right, all right, don’t fight. Now, let me escort you two back to your parents. They must be worried." Ocean said as he stood up but then felt a tug at his coat which made him look down at Elle who held the edge of it.

"Is there something you want to say, Little Lady?" He asked and she shyly looked up at him before stretching her arms up at him.

Lucius’ expression said that it was rather uncharacteristic of Elle to ask to be carried and Ocean chuckled before he reached down scooping the little girl up.

He held her securely over his arm and she sat there quietly before she placed her hand over his shoulder.

"E-Elle... You shouldn’t bother a person who’s helping us like that." Lucius chided and Elle didn’t say anything.

"It’s fine, Young Master. Little Lady’s leg must hurt that’s why she asked for this. Come now, let’s go back to your parents." Ocean said.

Lucius looked a bit hesitant but he still stood beside Ocean gingerly taking his hand and Ocean looked at Sol.

"Let’s go, Sol."

Sol stared at him as he walked ahead with the two kids, one over his arm another’s hand in his, there was no spot for him.

A strange heat blossomed over his chest as he walked behind them staring at Ocean wondering why he was so nice to these kids.

The prayer hall wasn’t crowded but there were a few people inside, Ocean didn’t bother asking the kids about their parents as he made his way straight towards the woman who looked worried out of her wits. The familiar looking woman who made him smile.

"There’s your mother," Ocean said and Lucius who hadn’t been looking, spotted her before he ran up to her.

Sol noticed that, his eyebrows furrowing before he noticed a knowing look over Ocean’s face and thought.

The number of acquaintances this person had were more than the scales on a Dragon’s back.
