Chapter 480: 479. Someone By My Side (3)

The carriage stopped outside of the market that was bustling with activity, Ocean helped Sol out and the little boy looked around while Ocean shoved one hand in the pocket of his trousers.

"I have a place to visit today, you should come along," Ocean said and Sol looked up at him.

"Where?"

"You’ll know," Ocean said before pointing at the market.

"Let’s look around a bit first,"

Ocean only held Sol’s one hand as they entered the crowded area. The excited people around kept pushing and Sol being little kept getting brunt of it. Ocean glanced once at Sol who was having a hard time.

The tall ones rarely looked down at the child and the ones who had been around with children were carrying them on their arm or either on their shoulders while they enjoyed the festival.

One more person shoved through Sol obliviously and Sol stumbled back about to fall on his butt when Ocean reached out and held his tiny waist before hoisting him up on his arm.

"It’s crowded, bear with it," Ocean spoke curtly and Sol pursed his lips.

They walked over to different stalls where they are different types of snacks. Most of them were the same as the other day, but since Sol was being frugal that day so they didn’t go splurging as much as Ocean was doing today.

Sol didn’t shown any sign of resisting the idea of eating as much as he wanted. Ocean watched as Sol let his guard down while eating.

"Is it good?" Ocean asked looking down at Sol whose cheeks were red and puffed and lips curled up in a smile that made Ocean wonder if he was eating kebabs or was tasting elixir.

Ocean found little moan of pleasure funny as he noticed how Sol had ended up dripping the sauce from the kebabs over his clothes while staining both of his hands.

After he was done swallowing did he realised that

Ocean entered a boutique which confused Sol a bit but before he could ask why they were there. The attendants instead gathered around.

"What may we get for you, My Lord?" One woman asked eyeing Ocean and Sol who was on his arm.

Ocean put Sol down before pointing at him, "Some clothes for him."

The attendants watched little Sol their eyes seemed sparkling for some reason and the one who looked to have an authority of the place stepped ahead. Her sharp eyes assessing Sol.

She approached him and took his hand, lifting him up before holding his jaw gingerly before a smile lit her face.

"Oh, my! Your son is really like a masterpiece made by God, My Lord." She spoke making Sol to cock a brow while Ocean gave her a smile.

"He is, isn’t he?"

"My name is Rosa, I’m the owner of this boutique."

"I’m Marquis Ocean Ryujin from Sestia and this is my... nephew, Sol." Ocean took a brief pause considering on what he should introduce Sol as.

Comprehension flickered over Rosa’s and the other attendants’ eyes before they all gasped and then looked at Sol before back at Ocean.

It was needless to say that Marquis Ocean Ryujin’s name was starting to gain fame even in Denril because of the Oasis Foundation.

Rosa, looking even more determined, placed her hands on Sol’s shoulders making him flinch.

"Come, Young Master. We’ll select the outfits that would make your beauty shine even more!"

The attendants looked enthusiastic as they dragged Sol away whole Ocean walked over and took a seat on the couch looking at the catalogues.

There were quite trendy and beautiful dresses and suits around the boutique and it seemed like Rosa was quite a talented designer.

After a while, Rosa brought Sol forth. He was dressed in a formal, aristocratic outfit—a crisp white shirt with softly puffed sleeves, tucked neatly beneath a maroon and gold embroidered vest that shimmered faintly under the light. A white ruffled cravat adorned his neck, held in place by a delicate gold chain and a small jewel at his collar. Black shorts reached just above his knees, paired with spotless white socks and polished black shoes. He looked every bit the young noble, though his wide golden eyes and uncertain expression gave away the innocence still clinging to him.

"It’s good," Ocean mused watching as Sol looked down at himself.

"Try on some more outfits." Ocean said and Sol frowned.

"Why? This one is fine," he said and Rosa placed her hand on his shoulder.

"One can never be fine, Young Master. Come I’ll show you more of the outfits that would suit you." Rosa said and Ocean pointed at the catalogue.

"Oh and the ones in these catalogue are pretty good too," he said and Rosa smiled.

"I’m so happy to receive a compliment from the Marquis," she beamed before she ushered Sol in.

For around three hours, Sol had to go through trying outfit after outfit before he lost count, and they finally settled on a formal ensemble that complimented his golden curls and bright amber eyes. He was dressed in a deep midnight blue outfit, accented with intricate gold embroidery along the hem and cuffs, the richness of the colors bringing out the warmth in his features. A soft white lace bow adorned his chest, fastened with a sapphire-like gem that gleamed softly under the light. The tailored shorts matched the jacket, ending just above his knees, while his white socks and black shoes completed the noble, doll-like appearance.

Ocean smiled, satisfied while Sol looked like he would pass out.

"Pack every outfit he tried on and send it to the royal palace under my name," Ocean ordered making Sol to snap back.

"What?"

But his shock was drowned away in the excitement of Rosa who quickly ordered for her attendants to pack everything.

Ocean reached out to Sol who have him a look but slid his smaller hand in the larger one before they stepped out.

Ocean carried Sol up in his arms once outside and Sol just kept looking around at the different stalls and the people who were happily on and about on their way. He was always fascinated by humans, their lives were transient yet the could go through various feelings and before they knew it, their time was up.

He always wondered if mortality was the curse that was on him, then were the humans also in pain at times? But the ones around didn’t seem like they were. They would be happy when they would feel good, they would be sad when they felt bad. It was absurdly simple but also profoundly complicated. Human life.

While being lost in his thoughts, Sol didn’t even realise that Ocean had started climbing the white marble stairs and till he realised he was stunned.

They were in a place which was completely white and had the essence of something which resonated with him. He looked around finding different statues of Dragons that looked upon the huge hall which had pews and when he looked forth, he saw the one huge statue of a Saintess who had a veil drawn over her head and face frozen in the moment of praying while a large Dragons body was curled around her.

Sol stared in utter silence and his heart inadvertently picked up its pace. Ocean noticed it and let him down.

"Wh-Where are we?" Sol asked.

"It’s a Temple dedicated to Saintess Miella and the Dragons." Ocean answered watching as something flickered over Sol’s eyes before he pursed his lips and turned his eyes over the statues around.

He stared at the statues while Ocean walked towards the priest to talk about his appointment with the Pope. It was extremely difficult for just anyone to have a private meeting with the Pope but since the Pope himself remembered about Ocean he had granted the permission.

The priest knew instantly when Ocean asked for it.

"Ah, His Holiness is waiting for you in his prayer room, please come with me." He said and Ocean smiled before turning his head to look at Sol.

"Sol, come along." Ocean spoke only tad bit louder and Sol turned back before making his way to Ocean.

He seemed reluctant to leave the prayer hall. Ocean and Sol were led towards the inner sanctum where only the Pope and High Priest were allowed to pray and the only place where the second idol of the second Saintess and her Dragon was placed.

The priest knocked on the thick doors announcing the arrival of Ocean and the doors opened.

The familiar indigo haired man stood there with a warm but wide smile on his face, his eyes were still hidden beneath the white blindfold which made Sol curious.

"Please come in," The Pope, Cesio Childe, the man presently in his early forties and the youngest Pope in the history.

The priest was dismissed while Ocean and Sol walked inside, Cesio seemed like he was too fidgety as he tried to accomodate them with the giddy smile on his face. NovelFire)

"You still don’t seem like you’ve changed, Your Holiness." Ocean said and the said man chuckled.

"It’s not everyday that I receive Dragons, Oh Great One!"

He poured Ocean and Sol some tea before he stood with his hands clasped at his chest.

Ocean smiled, "This is Sol, and Sol, this is Cesio Childe, the Pope of the Temple of Saintess Miella and the Dragons."

Sol’s movements paused before he observed the blindfolded man before him. He could sense the divine energy concentrated in his eyes but he wondered if the man didn’t have a sight.

Cesio moved towards Sol before sitting on his knees near him.

"How blessed I am that in this lifetime when the others don’t even get to see one Dragon, I’m in company of two." He smiled and Sol couldn’t help but stare at him.

His hand reflexively lifted and he placed it over Cesio’s head. His lips opened but no sound came out, Cesio sat still as if just letting the feeling of a Dragon’s hand on his head sink in. However the said Dragon, couldn’t say anything before he lifted his hand and clenched his fists.

Ocean couldn’t help but notice it but didn’t pry into it.
