Chapter 322: 321. See Yourself (2)

I returned home- Aurelius mansion after I visited Grandfather and fell asleep there without eating.

My eyelids twitched as I felt the light fall over them and I groaned.

"The light..." I heard a soft voice before I felt shade blocking the light.

I relaxed.

"Good,"

"My, my, she’s sleeping quite deeply." I heard an unfamiliar feminine voice.

"Let her be, it seems like after a long time of running around she’s finally got to rest." A male voice this time.

"Still isn’t it better to send her back soon," another female voice.

I felt fingers brushing over my hair and the warm breeze that carried the sweet scent of flowers over my skin.

"She looks quite adorable when she’s asleep." The first voice said.

"The only time she seems like a normal human being." The male voice sighed.

"She’s a Dragon." The second female’s voice reminded.

I groaned softly as I turned on my side.

Strangely enough, it didn’t seem like I was sleeping on my comfy bed, but rather on someone’s lap.

These voices seemed strange, I hadn’t heard these voices ever before, one of them felt faintly familiar but the other two were different. These voices didn’t even seem as if they were anywhere close to any human’s. The tone, the texture of these voices were way different than any human’s. It was as if-

"She’s waking up, hurry and send her back."

My eyes opened in a flash and I blinked as I found myself back in my bed, I sat up looking around. I was in my own room and there was no indication of any other person being there.

"What the hell was that?" I mumbled as I ran my hand through my hair.

The doors suddenly opened and a maid walked in, her eyes lit up as she saw me.

"My Lady!" She beamed, "You’re awake!"

"Huh?"

"I’ll go inform the Duke right away."

She quickly rushed out and I was confused but I got down from my bed and stretched my body, it felt strangely stiff and I was famished.

After a couple of minutes, Dad along with Tobias walked in the room.

"Reina." Dad smiled and I smiled.

"How are you, Father?" I asked and then looked down at myself. I was still in my nightwear.

"I think I should meet you after I’m dressed," I said but then I noticed how worried he looked.

"What’s wrong?" I asked as he walked up and sat down on his knees before me watching me carefully.

"How are you feeling, Reina?" He asked instead.

"I’m... fine... Just hungry. Why? What’s wrong?" I asked and then noticed as how even the servants looked a bit concerned.

"You were sleeping for three days, Reina." Dad said and I cocked a brow.

"What?"

"Yes, l night when I came to see you, you looked tired and you’ve been sleeping quite deeply so I told the servants to let you sleep in but, you’ve been sleeping for three days straight." He explained and I frowned.

"Wait, what? Then, why didn’t you wake me?"

"We tried to, but you were so deep in sleep that we failed to wake you up," he said, "I even called for a doctor but he just said you were asleep because of exhaustion."

I frowned a bit but the Dad sighed deeply, "At least you’re awake now."

I didn’t understand why I was asleep for so long, I was feeling refreshed but it seemed as if I was forgetting something. I shook my head and got dressed for the day.

I had a hearty breakfast and then grabbed the egg which sat curled up in my coat, I frowned a bit as I noticed that it had grown in size for some reason. At first it was the size of my fist when I was in Reina’s form, but now it was a bit more larger almost enough to compare with Ocean’s fist.

"Is it supposed to grow like this?" I wondered as I placed it in my vest and then proceeded to wear the coat.

"Are you leaving, already?" Dad asked and I turned to look back at him.

"Yes, I have been away for three whole days, I’m sure Kai and others must be worried."

"I talked to your Uncle." Dad said and I paused.

"He told me about... your life being at risk in Denril." He said and I licked my lips turning to face him.

"... He said he scolded you a lot so, I won’t do that. And I suppose your Grandfather... also said a lot." He said and I looked down.

"You are a smart child, Reina. And I love you, after Serene you and Rune are the only ones left with me so..."

I looked at him and reached out holding his hand, "I won’t leave you or Rune alone, Father. I won’t promise that I won’t be taking any risks in future but, I will try my best to not sacrifice myself or anyone else because of it. So, please... don’t be worried."

He looked at me for a long moment, his amber eyes resembling molten gold before he sighed and smiled.

I left the Aurelius mansion and returned to Ryujin, and instantly had Kai rush over to me with tears. Even the other people looked a little worried.

"I’m fine, everyone." I said as I brushed Kai’s head as he kept clinging to me.

"But, Mr Lyall said..." A maid said as she and the rest looked at Lyall.

"Lyall said, what?" I asked looking at him and he cleared his throat.

There was some unattended tension that was growing in the air around us and it somehow made me a bit confused.

Enora stepped ahead and clapped her fingers and the tension dissipated making everyone look at her.

"Now that Master is here, everyone return to your posts." She spoke and the servants looked at each other before they started dispersing.

Kai looked up at me with teary eyes and I brushed his tears, before I scooped him up.

"Don’t cry," I said softly and then looked at Enora.

"I’ll be in my study, please bring me some tea and some snacks for Kai." I said and she bowed before she walked away.

I turned to Lyall who was still there and gestured for him to come along. We walked all the way to my study and Roan who saw me quickly stood up.

"Hey, you’re up. Are you all right?" He asked as he walked past his desk and came up to me.

"Yes, I am." I said and placed Kai down on the couch.

I then looked at Lyall, "Did you come to visit me at Aurelius mansion?"

"Yes, Master." Lyall admitted.

I nodded before I asked, "What did you see that was so disturbing that you came here and scared everyone?"

Lyall glanced once at Kai and then looked at me, "I came to you two nights ago, I saw you sleeping so, I left but then, I arrived the next afternoon and you were still asleep. I waited for you to wake up but... you were still deeply asleep. I saw Duke Aurelius calling for doctors to check on your condition but they simply said they had no idea why you were asleep."

"After the doctors and maids left, I tried to wake you but, you were so deeply asleep that I... was worried that something might have happened to you."

"What did you tell the people here?" I asked.

"I told them that you might not be able to come around for a while, since you weren’t feeling well."

"You didn’t exactly tell them what?"

He shook his head, "I couldn’t let them worry over nothing so, I made this up. But I’m glad to see you well, Master."

I hummed and looked at Kai, I placed my hand over his head and then sighed.

"It’s good that you seem to worry about me but-" I was about to say something that would sound insensitive but I stopped right that instant.

I looked at Lyall’s neutral expression with the worry swirling in his eyes, then at Kai who seemed like he would cry again. Roan gave me a knowing look and I sighed.

"I’m sorry for worrying you all. I was very exhausted from all the travelling and the extreme adventure so, I guess my body required enough rest. I’m a part human after all." I said with a smile and Lyall exhaled, his shoulders slumped as he relaxed.

I was a Dragon, all right, but I was a human too, so, I had to keep a balance. Dragons didn’t need humans, they were strong enough to have the same standing as God’s. They were the ones who had saved this world so, they would see everyone else here below them. Their pride was justified but I wasn’t born with the cold blood of a Dragon. I was a human and I couldn’t throw away the people that I worked hard to gather, I had to make sure to clearly see myself first and then the others.

Besides, I wondered why I was so deeply asleep for three days?
