Chapter 310: 309. A Father’s Pride (3)

Despite the fact I and Lyall hadn’t had our spar in a long time, it seemed as if we were still pretty much in sync with our styles. I kept myself on defense first watching as his ruthless attacks came showering on me at blinding speed.

He was the kind of fighter who wouldn’t let my eyes wander, I could forget about the world and fight with him till death if possible. Not that we would ever fight like that.

Our swords clashed frequently but none of us landed an attack on the other, I had held back as much physical strength as I could to enjoy this thoroughly. Lyall, though, seemed like he was having a bit hard time, after a couple of minutes of us continuously fighting.

I slashed my sword at him and he ducked back before I saw as his sword, which was aimed right for my heart thrust right at me. I didn’t have time to move my sword so, I gripped the blade with my bare hand before it could reach my heart or rather, the egg which was sitting right above it. I was indestructible but the egg wasn’t.

I heard a loud gasp coming from Dad but then I let go of the sword and our fight continued.

"Sh-He grabbed that sword with his bare hand." I heard Dad gasp.

"It’s fine, Uncle Duke, nothing can hurt Master." Rowan said.

"Master is a D-" I heard Sylvia almost speak it but then she cleared her throat, "Master is invincible, he can face hundreds of blades yet, none would be able to even put a scratch on him."

My and Lyall’s spar continued for a tad bit long time and when we did stop we realised that we had taken around two hours. It was humanly impossible for anyone to fight for that long but I guess Lyall was ascending his human status.

Lyall drew ragged breaths as he doubled over leaning on his long sword and I wiped the dust that coated over my clothes, my breath was only a bit unstable with my heart pounding in synchronisation with the egg.

Dad rushed over to me and took my hand with which I had grabbed Lyall’s blade earlier.

"Are you all right? Are you hurt?" He asked as he inspected my palm and I smiled.

"I’m fine, I don’t hurt because of such weapons." I said and he looked at me.

"You’re... You scared me." He sighed, slumping his tense shoulders.

"I’m sorry,"

"Can we go eat now?" I heard some of the kids ask and I turned to them.

"Let’s go eat."

"Shouldn’t you be taking a bath, Master?" Kent asked.

"Uh... Right." I said as I looked down at my dust covered body and then at Lyall whose shirt was completely drenched in sweat.

Lyall and I retired to the rooms, I splashed the cold water over my face and then looked at the egg which I had kept on the counter wrapped in a thick towel. I dipped it into the water as well and felt its heat seeping into my palms.

"So, how’d you like the fight?" I asked.

It vibrated ever so slightly and I smiled.

"I’ll take it that you liked it. But I hope you don’t become a fight junkie." I said as I brushed my thumb over its smooth surface.

Goddess of Wisdom had told me that there could be any creature in this egg, it could be a bird, an animal or anything that would be picking up on my essence. I wondered what would pop out of it.

After I were cleaned up, I went to the dining hall. We had a hearty lunch and Dad was surprised to see that the kids here were self-sufficient enough to cook for themselves.

"Master said we should be ready for everything, so we should learn how to keep ourselves well fed and strong on our own." Cyrus explained to Dad who nodded and ate while praising the kids.

The kids loved it when someone praised them, and I was kind of enjoying the atmosphere that was here. Dad seemed to like the kids and was enjoying listening to them as they talked about different things. If only Kai would be here, he might love it more since he was the youngest and recieve the most attention and love from these all.

I hoped his social anxiety would finish soon so, that he could enjoy this life as well.

After lunch, I walked up to the adult Dwarves who still seemed to be a bit intimidated by my presence.

"You can still take your time in deciding if you want to live here or not." I told them and they looked at each other.

"It’s only been one day so, I’ll give you some more time to decide. In the meanwhile, if you need anything then don’t hesitate to tell Kent or directly to me." I said.

"We are happy that you think so much about us, Lord Dragon." Warth said.

"This place is like a paradise with happiness and laughter of the children. We can’t ask for anything more." Erwin said.

"I couldn’t have imagined being in such a cozy place." Yuder said as he looked at the kids.

"I want to teach the kids how to make weapons." Bonnie spoke up and I looked at him.

"You mean you want to teach the kids, your smithy skills?" I asked and he nodded excitedly.

"I told them that we used to make swords and all sorts of weapons for the King so, most of them asked if we could teach them." He explained with a smile.

"That’s good." I said and then looked at Warth.

"Will you be all right with teach the kids your skills?" I asked and he eyed his companions before he smiled.

"If our skills are good enough, we would love to depart then to these little ones." He said and I smiled.

"I’ll arrange for your workshop. Give Kent the list of the things you would require, not only for the workshop but also for your personal needs as well. They’ll be arranged." I said and noticed the expectant light in their eyes.

"You could even go out and scout the perfect place for your workshop, all the hills and this land around is mine so, don’t worry but don’t go to the far western side though."

"Why?" Bonnie blurted out and received a reprimanding gaze from Warth.

"It’s because there would be a town over there and I don’t think you’d like human interference." I said and they looked at each other.

"The town’s people aren’t bad," I said, "They’re my people too, a lot of them know about these kids as well. So, they won’t do anything to you, rest assured even if you did come across them. No one with bad intentions is allowed to enter this forest so, you can be free here."

The Dwarves thanked me again before I walked up to Dad who was telling the kids a story.

"We should return now." I announced and the kids groaned.

"You’re leaving already!"

"Master stay with us for some more time, please!"

They clung to my arms and I sighed.

"Master has work, let go of him." Kent said as he plucked the kids who were clinging to mb arms.

They whined and groaned until they had to accept that I was leaving and that I would come to see them soon.

They bid their farewells with my father as well, before we stepped out of the Eldarf manor.

Dad smiled and waved at the kids who were at the entrance waving at us.

"Do you like it?" I asked and Dad looked at me.

"Yes, those children are really loveable." He said.

"Rune told me about this place only briefly because he was going to go soon, I’m glad he got to spend time with such lovely children." Dad said with a smile and I smiled back.

We reached back at Ryujin and I felt not one but two familiar presences in the mansion. I looked at Dad who seemed a bit tired. A servant opened his mouth to inform me about them but I simply placed the box of cake that I had brought from Kai in his hand.

"This is for the Young Master," I told him and then looked at Lyall.

"Lyall, take His Grace to the guest room on second floor, I’ll go and tend to the guests." I said and Dad looked at me.

"Guests?"

"Yes," I said before I turned and walked towards the parlor.

When I opened the doors, the first thing to come at me was Kai. He rushed up to me and his behind me as he peeked at the two individuals who stood in the room.

"You scared the child!"

"I didn’t, you have a scary face, he was terrified when you approached him!"

I saw the two men arguing and I sighed placing my hand over Kai’s head.

"Don’t be scared," I said and he hod his face into my side.

I sighed and looked at the father and son who were arguing again.

"Aren’t you going to welcome me back?" I asked and the two men turned their attention to me.

"Welcome back, Lord Ocean Ryujin." Marquis Desmond Fairisles greeted me and I looked at Silas who crossed his arms at his chest before he looked at me.

"I’ve already welcomed you,"

"May I know why you are you and scaring the kids?" I asked as I placed my hand on Kai’s shoulder.

"I wasn’t scaring him, Marquis approached the child while I was talking to him and he got scared and ran away." Silas said quickly.

"I didn’t, the Archmage was asking the child too many questions so, I interfered so that he wouldn’t scare the child." Marquis defended himself.

The two glared at each other and I sighed looking down at Kai.

"It’s fine," I said as I plucked him up in my arms.

"That’s my Uncle," I pointed at Silas and then I pointed at Marquis.

"And that’s my Grandfather."
