Chapter 301: 300. Loose Ends (1)

I sat down on the window sill, my cloak billowing with the night breeze as I waited for the person that I wanted to meet properly before leaving.

The doors opened and I looked at the person entering the room. He entered without sensing my presence as I had my invisibility spell on.

He removed his cloak and sighed loudly before he ran his hand through his red mane, I watched him as he passed by the window and then paused before he looked at the open window.

He grew cautious in an instant and looked around.

"No need to be so cautious, Your Majesty." I spoke up and Augustine De LaVera grabbed the sword and held it up.

"Reveal yourself!" He shouted.

I created a rather smaller version of a water Dragon inside the room and he stumbled back with his eyes going wide.

"D-Dragon?" He gasped and then his eyebrows furrowed.

"Wait, are you the real one? Or the fake one created my Duke Lancaster’s aide?" He demanded.

I used Dragon’s Presence making him feel its pressure, he gritted his teeth standing his ground but not for long as he sank to his knee using the sword as his support.

"I hope an imposter might not be able to make the King of Denril get on his knees." I spoke.

"I-I understand!" He shouted and I removed the Presence from him.

He rose to his feet and stood rather reverently in front of the Dragon behind which I sat.

"I had showed up before the people and ordered for the corrupt officials to be punished according to the law. But there is another matter that I need to settle with you."

"May I ask... what it is?" He asked, it seemed as if the polite talk wasn’t his forte. Well, he was a King after all.

"Your son, the Crown Prince of this kingdom has a sword."

Augustine flinched as I mentioned the sword.

"I believe you know what that sword is and you had bestowed it on him with full knowledge."

Augustine seemed too strained as his fists clenched at his sides.

"Don’t be so worried," I said, "I haven’t killed your son... yet."

His eyes grew hard and he lowered his head, "L-Lord Dragon is generous."

"That’s not the point here," I spoke.

"That sword, who made it?" I asked.

Augustine seemed a bit hesitant before he answered, "I-I have... a couple of Dwarves who... were gifted to me... they made that sword."

"And where did you get those bones?" I demanded.

"Th-Those were passed down in our family... I had read about the legendary sword made from a Dragon’s bones which the first King of Sestia used to kill a Dragon... I thought that... if my son could wield such a strong weapon then he would create a huge difference in the war."

"Sadly enough for you," I said, "A Dragon’s power isn’t that easy to wield, especially for a human. He’s currently weak."

Augustine frowned and I observed as I spoke ahead, "But that boy is chosen by that Dragon so, he will be fine. The Dragon will mould the boy’s strength so that he would wield the power well."

Augustine looked at up with awe and hope swirling in his eyes.

"I was tempted to take that sword away and free my kin," I spoke up making him stiffen up.

"But I respect their wishes that’s why I didn’t harm the boy." I said making him release a sigh.

"That doesn’t mean you’re pardoned."

Augustine grew strained again and I continued, "The Dwarves whom you have enslaved, free them right away."

"What..." He gasped.

"You want me to repeat myself?"

Augustine flinched making before he lowered his head.

"I-I will do it!" He responded.

"I want them at this location tonight." I said as I tossed a piece of paper at him.

He caught the paper and looked at it, it was a location close to the slum area. I could see the Dwarves there and see if they would agree to go with me to Sestia so that they could join the Eldarf kids.

"I shall bring them to this location, Lord Dragon."

"Another thing," I said.

"This war that has been going on," I saw him gulp.

"I don’t have anything to do with it, so, I don’t care what you do."

He relaxed a little bit I did have a word or warning, "But if you dared to drag those who don’t have anything to do in it, I won’t sit still."

The Water Dragon hovered around him making him grow stiff and he answered, "Y-Yes, Lord Dragon."

At night, as per my instructions, the Dwarves were brought over to the small forested area near the slums and I waited there with Lyall and the child who had insisted on coming when I said I was going to see some Dwarves.

The child was now healthier and seemed to be starting to talk a bit more freely after being freed from the curse. He had also reverted back to his half dragon form and had to keep a cloak on to cover his body and face all the time.

The carriages stopped and around four Dwarves stepped out, they looked around slightly disoriented and it seemed as if they were looking for something.

The carriages left right away and I stepped ahead making the Dwarves flinch and get on their knees.

"Don’t be scared," I said making them look at me with a gaze of reverence and slight fear.

"You must have sensed who I am, right?" I asked and they looked at each other.

These Dwarves were proper adults, one of them was the oldest with white hair and a scraggy beard.

"We-We are blessed to have a Dragon come to us..." He said, his voice was heavy and thick fitting his age.

I stepped ahead and reached out to them, they hesitantly held my hands before they got to their feet and I looked at them with a smile.

"My name is Ocean Ryujin, and I want to make an offer to you all."

"I-I, Warth Welder, greets the Great Dragon." He introduced himself.

"Erwin Guss, g-greets the Great Dragon." The one beside him with the reddish brown hair went next.

"Bonnie We-Welder, greets the Great Dragon." The one who seemed like the youngest with a mop of brown hair introduced himself.

"Yu-Yuder Fern, greets the Great Dragon." The last Dwarf with black hair introduced himself.

The four looked at me and I continued, "I wish to give you all a home where you will be treated with the respect that you deserve with the people like you."

"Pardon?" They gasped.

"I have a place where you all can live freely," I said and then added, "but it’s your choice, you have been trapped for so long and if you want to go somewhere else then I can arrange for you as well. But if you don’t have that safe place then you can come with me."

They all looked at each other, "Don’t be stressed, I’ll be leaving tomorrow at dawn if you want to go along then you have time to decide."

I stepped back and looked at Lyall, "Arrange for their stay."

"Yes, Master." Lyall bowed before I walked towards the child.

I scooped him up and the child looked at the Dwarves from past my shoulders as I started walking back to the inn.

"Will they not come with us?" The child asked.

"It’s their choice, if they want to come with me then they can, if they don’t then we’ll have to respect their choices and let them go wherever they want."

The child stared at me, "Is that why you said that I could go wherever I want when I said I didn’t want your blessings?"

"Yes," I answered.

The child stared at me for a moment before he wrapped his arms around my neck hiding his face in my neck and I patted his back.

We reached back at the inn and I left the child back in his room before I returned to my room. I still had to tell Silas about the mission complete and also thank him for such a strong device.

I picked up the communication device, it glowed with soft radiance and I spoke up.

"Uncle? Are you there?"

The response came almost immediately, "I’m here, how are you? How did the things go?"

I almost chuckled, "I’m good, the child’s good too and everything went well."

"So, you’re returning now. I’ll be there tomorrow at dawn. I hope all the preparations are done on that side."

"Yes, also, I met your vassals." He said and I cocked my brow.

"Really?"

"Yes, you have quite the talented people gathered around you."

"... All right... I’ll be there tomorrow. Oh and I might bring some more people apart from the child."

"I’m not surprised, just come home." He said and I laughed.

"Ah, one more thing." I said.

"What?"

"Thank you, Uncle. For the ring, but I’m sorry it shattered because of a fight."

"You used it?"

"Yes,"

"Who exactly were you fighting against that you had to use it?"

"A dark mage." I lied.

"Don’t lie, Reina. I had poured a huge amount of mana into that crystal, if it shattered that means you weren’t fighting a simple dark mage, what happened there, Reina?" He demanded and I cleared my throat.

"I’ll tell you when I return," I said.

"I’ll be waiting for that explanation." He told me before I cut the connection and lay back down on the bed.

It was hard to hide anything from Silas, he was too smart and perceptive for his own good.

I spent the day, repairing the blue sapphire earstud and poured a lot of my mana so that it couldn’t shatter away like it did when the demon entered my body. Till the evening, I had successfully made Ocean’s disguise, including Mirielle’s. I tried it on and it was satisfactory, I would still need Silas’s touch for it to be perfect.

That night, after dinner with the child I returned to my room and after changing my clothes I went over to see Asher. I did make a promise that I would help him see Mirielle one last time and also to make everything clear.
