Chapter 300: 299. Time For Final Act (3)

There wasn’t any other choice here. It was either Arian dying or me using the plan B which was still an unsure thing.

"What are you thinking about, Dragon?" The demon asked as he stood at a distance in Arian’s dying body.

"I give up." I announced.

My blood and Heart resisted to my words but I had no other choice. I had to put myself on the line to get the best possible outcome. A gamble of all or nothing.

"Give up?" The demon tilted his head.

"Yes, you wanted my body, right? Fine, here it is. Let go of that kid, he’s dying anyways." I said.

The demon looked at me and then laughed, "You think I’m a fool? You’re giving up after a short fight just because this body is dying?"

I clenched my jaw before I crossed my arms at my chest, "I am giving up and you’re wasting time. We had to go according to the contract anyways, you undid the curse, we even had a fight, now do your thing."

The demon laughed, "You want me to believe that? What’s the catch here, huh Dragon? You’re really giving up?"

"I said so," I spoke with a deadpan expression and he threw his head back laughing loudly.

My Patrons were currently going crazy too, the notifications were popping up before me at a great speed carrying the messages of how they were telling me to just sacrifice Arian and kill the demon. But I had a responsibility here.

A responsibility as a Dragon and also a human.

I was chosen to save this world, if I had to sacrifice an innocent person for that then my work is a waste, my deeds are nothing but acts of hypocrisy and I refused to live with that.

I stepped ahead and the demon looked at me.

"You’re fellow Dragons will be so ashamed of you," he grinned.

"That’s my problem." I said before Arian’s eyes quivered.

His body trembled and grew slack as the black mist grew thicker and started oozing from his body faster.

His eyes rolled back and he fell back to the ground along with his sword and the black blob of void hovered in the air for a split second before it shot towards me.

[Shield of Invulnerability has been activated.]

"Deactivate it!" I ordered.

The demon collided with me like a bullet and I felt the heaviness in my chest. The mana that was flowing around my body started feeling like fire and I gritted my teeth but it wasn’t even the beginning of the agony that followed.

The anti mana and the source of mana seemed to be at war within my body ripping at my insides. My lips parted and a roar rumbled through my chest, my vision blackened out and I couldn’t see anything or feel anything but pain all over my body.

I clawed at my body feeling the disguise falling apart and I screamed in Reina’s voice before I ripped through my skin with my Dragon’s claws.

I writhed and screamed until I felt another presence in a distance. I wasn’t thinking straight or rather my brain was starting to melt when I felt as if someone was standing in front of me. The faint sound of a small bell chiming fell on my ears which were ringing already.

The presence seemed to hold some power because amidst my hellish agony, I could feel its presence, though I couldn’t see it.

Just then, I heard a boyish voice, "My, my, what a reckless little child!"

The Demon’s presence in me resisted the presence violently and tried to get away but I felt as if the gravity had turned into shackles holding my body in place.

"Go back to the hellhole you crawled out of, Cizr." I heard a command along with the demon’s name that I had got to know from Lyall.

A demon’s name was its weakness, if a person knew the demon’s name it would act as a leash for the demon. I was planning on using the name but I couldn’t.

I felt a touch over my chest right above my heart and a surge of mana was shot into my being. The bright, pure golden light bathed my vision driving away the darkness and I felt the strong sensation of regurgitating.

"Foolish demon to try and take over the body of the Scion of the dragon who was capable of purifying their corruption." I heard the soft chuckle.

I couldn’t hold any longer before I turned to my side and puked, my vision was still filled with the golden light and the mana was still flushing through my system.

Once I was done puking, I tried to stand straight but my knees wobbled and I fell back hearing the sounds of demonic growling, roars and screaming.

Soon enough, those screams stopped and I couldn’t feel the demon’s presence anymore.

"It seems like you’re strong enough but, still not ready yet." I heard the boyish voice again.

My body which seemed lifeless slowly gained strength and I opened my eyes to see the sky splashed in the colors of pink, purple and gold. I blinked several times, feeling strangely at ease. My mana seemed to flow in harmony in my body, my heart beat at its pace and even my ever so proactive blood was at peace.

I slowly pushed myself off the ground and found myself in Reina’s form. The clothes that I had worn were ripped at several parts, stained with blood but the wounds both from the demon and self-inflicted were gone.

I looked around but the demon wasn’t around, there wasn’t even a trace of his presence ever being there though the traces of our violent battle were still there, including Arian himself.

The dead body was also gone, I walked up to Arian who lay unconscious and I crouched beside him before casting the Supreme Healing spell on him.

He regained consciousness and inhaled deeply as he sat up, I covered myself with the clothes that I had on me to keep him from seeing my real face.

"Wh-Who are you?" Arian demanded and I looked once at the Dragon sword.

"You owe me your life again," I said as I stood up.

Hie eyebrows furrowed and I said, "You’re lucky, the other people of Denril have seen me in my Dragon’s form but you’re the only one who gets to see me in my human form."

"Why are you here? Did you bring me here?" He asked cautiously while his eyes going around the place.

"No, I didn’t bring you here but you made a lot of people almost lose their guardian because I chose to save your life."

He frowned in confusion, "What do you mean?"

I shook my head, "Nothing, get going back to the war, Crown Prince. You’re needed there. I hope you don’t get used as today because there’s a limit to my mercy."

He was confused but still cautious and I looked at the sword again, it vibrated making him look at it too.

Arian rose his sword and I stepped ahead making him take a step back.

"I’m not hurting you," I told him before I touched the red stone on the hilt feeling the presence of the dragon.

It couldn’t use words so, it channeled the emotions instead, the feeling of gratitude filled my being as I smiled.

"You’re welcome." I whispered and the boy looked at me.

"You may leave now, we’ll meet in future again." I said and he stepped back.

After a while, I flew all the way back to the inn while clad in those ripped clothes with my face and head covered.

I landed in my room making Lyall who was waiting there to rush towards me. His face held the expression of concern and his eyes flashed with fear and worry.

"Master! Are you-"

"I’m all right," I told him and felt my stomach grumbling.

"Just famished." I said.

He blinked as he looked down at me, a small smile spread over his face before he got on his knee.

"I’ll get you everything that you’d like." He spoke.

I could sense the emotions that made his voice thick and I couldn’t help but smile.

He brought me some food and started eating, he observed me as I was still in Reina’s form. He fidgeted in his spot a little and I chuckled.

"I’m fine now, Lyall. My mana devices were destroyed in the fight that’s all, I’ll have to be in Ace’s disguise till we return." I told him.

I didn’t mention the fact that I almost sacrificed myself thinking that I might be able to kill the Dragon by casting a Purification spell on myself. It was a foolish thing but what I wasn’t expecting was the presence of a third party. It wasn’t Arian, it wasn’t someone I knew.

Whoever he was, he was strong, way too strong if he could drive away the demon from someone’s body without killing the host. I didn’t get to see him but I still felt the traces of his mana in my blood. He must have been seeing the fight that’s why he jumped right in when the things went out of my hands.

He knew everything, from my identity to my power and that was possible only if this certain person had been seeing me. First the demon and then this stranger. Just how many people had their eyes on me?

Was my security so lax that I was being surveilled and I didn’t even know?

"Is something wrong, Master?" Lyall asked and I shook my head.

"No, nothing." I said.

After eating, I cleaned up and put on the red earstud which turned me into Ace. I visited the child after that, the child had been worried but he was holding well.

He jumped right into my arms as soon as he saw me and cried loudly making me chuckle but also relieved that I managed to get everything done.

[Task complete. Survive the Demon’s plan no matter what.]

[Reward: The Unconditional support from both the Patrons.]

I almost chuckled as I saw the notifications along with the scolding messages from my Patrons.

"Well, I did survive, didn’t I?" I said.

[Goddess of Wisdom admonishes your reckless act.]

[Defender of Divine Glory is angry because you deactivated the Shield of Invulnerability when it could have saved you.]

[Giver of Gifts is also angry because you acted so reckless.]

"Now, now, don’t be angry. I was saved, wasn’t I? So, mind telling me who my savior was?" I asked.

[Goddess of Wisdom refuses to answer your question.]

[Defender of Divine Glory refuses to answer your question.]

"You guys are supposed to support me unconditionally now."

[Giver of Gifts says that you’re not supposed to learn about it now.]

I sighed, I had expected this, whoever it was, was extremely strong so, it wasn’t easy to find out about him. Still, if he had his eyes on me then, we might run into each other again soon.
