Chapter 236: 235. Plan B (3)

The manager of the place quickly rushed on the spot and watched me drenched in beer and the girl kneeling with her head down while crying.

"I-I apologise for what happened!" He quickly bowed before me.

I sighed as I ran my hand over my hair, even though I had worn a mask, the fluid had made it past the mask.

"You little- how clumsy can you be to splash the beer on someone so important?!" The manager shouted at the already mortified girl.

"I-I’m really sorry, I-I didn’t-"

"That’s it! You’re fired, don’t show your face around you!"

"B-But, Manager-"

"Enough!" He raised his hand and I gripped his wrist before he could hit the girl.

"It happened by mistake, don’t go overboard," I said making him shiver as he looked at me.

"Y-Yes?" I let go of his hand and picked up the glass of water from my table.

"Here," I presented the glass to the girl who gasped.

"I-"

"Drink it," I spoke and she took the glass from me with trembling hands before she took a small sip and I stood up.

I gave her a hand and she stared at me, "Get up."

She hesitantly placed her hand in mine and started to stand but then whimpered as she almost slumped over again.

"As I thought," I mumbled as I helped her sit on the chair.

"You twisted your ankle." I said and she pursed her lips with her chin quivering.

I crouched near her feet making her yelp as I gently removed the shoe from her foot and probed the tender area with my fingers.

"Not a serious one, but you’ve sprained your ankle." I spoke and then looked up at her red face.

I sighed and then carefully held her foot in my hands making her yelp again, "Keep still. I’ll fix it."

"B-But-"

With the help of Mana Eyes I was able to see the issue behind the wall of the skin and tissue and that’s how I knew how I would be able to fix it.

I twisted her ankle again hearing the crack along with her loud howl before I moved her foot to see if there was some problem again.

"There, does it hurt anymore?" I asked and she blinked before she hesitantly moved her foot and a smile graced her features.

"No, it doesn’t." She beamed.

"Good," I stood back up and looked at the manager.

"Arrange a bath for me in my room," I ordered.

"Y-Yes!"

I looked at the food and then at the waitress, "I’ll eat after I’m done bathing so, put this away."

"Yes, I’m sorry!" She said with her head down and I patted her head.

"It’s fine, it happened by mistake."

With that said, I turned and went back to my room.

Even after bathing and changing I could still smell the beer on me, it felt a bit irking but at least I wasn’t drenched in it.

I ate the food and spotted Lyall downstairs who came up to me.

"Master, are you all right? I heard you were splashed with beer."

"It’s fine, nothing serious," I said as I continued eating.

He pursed his lips as he sat down in front of me and looked around at the people who had been staring at me curiously but as soon as he looked at them they turned away.

"Where did you go?"

"To the Temple," he said, "I told them about you agreeing to meet them. The Priest told me that they would like to meet you tomorrow in the afternoon."

"In the Temple itself?"

"Yes,"

I nodded, "Good enough."

He sat quietly while I ate and once I was done I sighed wiping my mouth with the napkin.

"Pa-Pardon me!" I and Lyall turned out heads to look at waitress who was standing near our table.

Her fidgeting was enough to tell me that she was nervous and possibly also scared.

"That... I... I wanted to thank you for what happened earlier," she said as she clutched her apron and I smiled.

"It’s fine,"

She looked once at Lyall, "I-I really didn’t mean to..."

"It’s all right since Master has forgiven you," he said waving his hand.

Her eyes went wide slightly before she looked at me. The ones who were closeby were obviously eavesdropping so hearing the word "Master" coming from the mouth of their new Leader must be quite a shock.

"M-Master?" The girl gasped and I sighed as I stood up.

"Let’s go, we still have that one work to do." I said and Lyall quickly got to his feet.

"Yes, Master."

We left the inn and got on a carriage which would take us to our desired location. Lyall sat in front of me while I crossed my legs one over the other looking out of the window.

"This town seems in a bad shape." I commented.

"It is, Master. This is the hub for all kinds of criminals and those activities. It took me some effort to clean it all up and get it under control." Lyall explained.

"Were there any Temple spies in here?" I asked.

"Plenty, but I got rid of them earlier on."

"Good,"

After an hour or so, we stopped in front of the gates of a large mansion. The guards at the entrance looked at Lyall who brandished the token with the crest of the owner of the place and they let us in.

"It’s quite a huge mansion," I mumbled as I looked around.

Till the time we were in front of the doors two servants were there to welcome us. The butler and the maid welcomed us in with all politeness.

They led us up to the reception room where I took a seat with Lyall standing behind the sofa in a spot where he could keep an eye on every corner of the room.

The maids served us tea and some refreshments, I drank the fragrant tea feeling relaxed as I could finally relax in my skin.

Within a couple of minutes, the doors opened up again and Damon walked in. He closed the doors behind me and bowed before me.

"Welcome to the Lancaster mansion, Master."

I smiled before I gestured at him to take a seat and he obliged.

"The work is going as you had instructed," he told me before I could ask and I smiled.

"That’s good,"

He licked his lips before he asked, "May I ask you something, Master?"

"Go ahead,"

"Um... What relation do you have with the Lewinstein family?"

"You know what it is," I said making him blink.

"Um..."

"The Count and his son were that emotional only because I saved their daughter and her babies. They were trying to protect the person who had done them a favor. A perfectly humane reaction."

Damon nodded and I placed the tea cup down before getting down to business, "All right, now since all my pawns as in their place so, I’ll tell you what to do from here."

Damon leaned a bit ahead in attention.

"First of all, I’m having a meeting with the Temple tomorrow. Before that, you must have to put the word of the existence of Saintess on the King’s ear. Let him know that there is a woman who is a stronger healer than the Saint."

Damon nodded in understanding and I continued to flesh out the rest of the instructions until I briefly stopped for the information to sink in.

"Remember if you screw up even one step then you would lose it all, understand?" I asked and he nodded

"I understand, Master." Damon replied earnestly.

"Good, and be sure to keep the information flowing." He nodded again.

"Also, I asked you to investigate about the Temple’s view about the Crown Prince what of it?"

"The Temple is quite supportive of the Crown Prince, Master. They had always been that way, so, we don’t really have anymore information."

I sighed, "I guess I will have to find it from the Temple itself then,"

"Um... May I ask why that’s important?" Damon asked.

I leaned back observing him before I answered, "Because, that kid was nearly killed at the time when we were entering this nation."

"Pardon?!" He almost jumped to his feet in shock but I waved my hand.

"Don’t worry he’s alive and fine, apparently. I did save him at that time but more such attacks might have happened since that time and since we haven’t received any news of him dying so, he must be doing good." I shrugged my shoulders and Damon looked deep in thought.

"Is there any illegitimate child of the King or something?" I asked.

"Pardon? No, there isn’t. The nation follows the rule of monogamy very strictly so, even the King is not allowed to have any other partner apart from the Queen, not even any Concubines. So, there are no illegitimate children."

I chuckled, "Just because this nation follows monogamy it doesn’t mean that the King would control his lower body. What if there is a secret love child or something?"

Damon was speechless for a moment but then he seemed to ponder over my words.

The Queen had passed away a couple of years ago and the Crown Prince was now on the battlefield. It was ridiculous to think that the King might not have another option if Arian died on the battlefield. There might be some catch to this situation, a hidden card which would be used when the time came.

Before that time comes, I wanted to know about that card as much as possible to control the damage or to even cause severe damage to my opponents.

"I’ll look into it thoroughly, Master." Damon said and I nodded.

"Let me know even if you find a snippet." I said and he nodded.

"Yes, Master."

After talking for around another two hours, I and Lyall returned back to the town where a horrible news waited for us.
