Chapter 229: 228. Fragile Beings (1)

I sat down for dinner with Count Lewinstein and Alan in front of me. The dinner was quiet until there was a loud crackle of thunder outside the window. I feigned jumping in fear and the two men looked at me.

"Are you perhaps afraid of thunder, My Lady?" Alan asked and I smiled sheepishly at him.

"I have always been afraid of thunders, Young Master Alan." I admitted.

[Defender of Divine Glory reminds you that lying isn’t good.]

"Do you want me to tell him the truth then? That I’m the one who summoned this storm in the first place to make things easy for you guys?"

[Goddess of Wisdom snorts and tells Defender of Divine Glory to just sit and watch.]

[Giver of Gifts is waiting for your gratitude.]

"Thank you, Giver of Gifts for such a convenient ability. You’re the best!"

[Goddess of Wisdom is bewildered.]

[Defender of Divine Glory reminds you of the time he sided with you.]

[Goddess of Wisdom asks you if you forgot the times when she supported you.]

[Defender of Divine Glory says he has supported you more than Goddess of Wisdom has.]

[Goddess of Wisdom reminds Defender of Divine Glory that she was the one who saved you when the Supreme Aqua Dragon was about to take over your body.]

The two started arguing over who was the best among the two while I was speechless. Were these two really my Patrons?

[Giver of Gifts requests Defender of Divine Glory and Goddess of Wisdom to calm down.]

[Defender of Divine Glory asks Giver of Gifts to stay out of this.]

[Goddess of Wisdom asks Giver of Gifts to stay out of their matter.]

[Goddess of Wisdom has unsheathed her spear.]

[Defender of Divine Glory has unsheathed his sword.]

They’re literally beginning a physical fight?!

Althought it would be quite a drama and good action to see, almost anime worthy fight but I couldn’t have my Patrons fighting like this.

"Are you guys serious?" I thought.

"You’re supposed to Supreme beings of Divine realm and you guys are fighting for my praise?" I asked but then I recalled something.

"Ah... Is it because the Dragons usually don’t give praises to anyone?"

The three fell silent and I chuckled to myself as I continued eating, these three were quite entertaining and adorable at times.

"It would be hard to travel in this weather," Count commented.

"I think so too." I mumbled.

"It will be dangerous as well," Alan added.

We three looked at each other before Alan cleared his throat.

"I-It’s better if you stay here for the time being, My Lady." He suggested.

"Can I?" I asked with a hopeful smile and the father and son exchanged a glance.

"Yes, you are our guest. You can stay here for as long as you want, My Lady." Count said making me smile brightly at him.

His eyes went wide for a moment and even Alan paused and stared at me.

Ah, I forgot that my face was beautiful enough to charm absolutely anyone.

The Count cleared his throat avering his eyes before he said, "Ye-Yes... Alan will take care of your needs here so, if you have anything that you want then you can ask him."

Alan looked at his father with wide eyes before he looked at me as I faced him.

"Yes... You can tell me what you want..." He said sounding hesitant and I smiled tilting my head to one side.

"Thank you so much, Young Master."

His cheeks went red and he averted his eyes quickly making me smirk inwardly.

Now, I had to wait for the chaos that would happen once Asher comes to know that I was taken from his place.

The next morning, we met for breakfast and I let the storm stop after letting it last for the whole night. The father and son looked a little worried watching the clear skies.

"That storm has stopped!" I smiled looking at the sky from the window.

The two exchanged a glance before Alan spoke up, "Bu-But there could be another storm, right Father?"

"Yes! Even the one from last evening was quite untimely and it also lasted the whole night. It could still be dangerous to travel in such unpredictable weather." The Count said and I hummed looking out of the window.

I could sense them being worried but then I felt someone rushing towards the dining hall. It seemed like a maid.

The doors burst open and the maid huffed almost doubling over before she looked at us.

"What’s the matter?"

"Why are you here like this?" The two men demanded.

The maid seemed quite distressed as she caught her breath before asking, "M-My Lady..."

The two men reacted at once hearing only that much.

"What? What happened to her?" Alan asked.

The maid gulped before pointing behind her, "M-My Lady is having convulsions... She is in pain..."

The two men flinched before they rushed out of the dining hall. I walked behind them towards the room where Angelina was. I activated my Mana Sense and instantly found her, her mana was dwindling like the flame which was close to diminishing.

It was dangerous.

I picked up pace and stood outside the door where I could hear the sounds of someone wailing in pain.

"I-I’m sorry, My Lord. But only one of the two could be saved." I heard someone say.

"But how is that possible?!"

"Angelina was taken good care of!"

I could hear her sobbing and writhing in pain as I stood rooted in my spot with the maids who were also standing outside.

"She’s losing a lot of blood, please make a decision, My Lord!" The doctor I assumed said.

"I cannot lose my daughter!" The Count responded in a strained voice.

"No!" I heard a woman wail, "please... Save my baby!"

"But, Angelina-"

"Please, Father!"

My fists clenched at my sides and for a moment my vision dwindled making me sway.

I saw a woman with long pink hair and bright blue eyes looking at me with a gaze full of love and affection. The sweat coated her skin but somehow her face was really pale including her lips. She was beautiful but she didn’t seem like she was well.

"No!" I heard a voice and I saw Dad who looked a lot younger than present crying as he held her hand.

She smiled instead, "Arthur... Take care of my precious daughter, all right?"

My breath hitched as I realised who she was.

Her eyes found mine again and I felt her warmth slowly dispersing.

"Live a happy life, my baby." Her lips pressed over my forehead.

My vision went back to normal and I felt two maids holding my arms.

"M-Miss, are you all right?" One of them asked.

I sniffed and realised the moisture that was over my cheeks, I touched my face as I realised that I had actually cried while watching that vision. A vision of past and the only memory that I could have of my biological mother from this life.

I wiped my face and pried the maids’ hands off from mine before I stepped inside.

"Wait, Miss no!"

I walked towards the bed where the wails of the woman were already painful.

"Step aside!" I ordered making the two men look at me.

"Who are you?" The doctor asked.

"Please leave the room." He said.

"Step back." I shouted making him flinch.

"Miss Mirielle-" Alan tried speaking but I sidestepped him going straight for the patient on bed. But he stepped in blocking my way.

"She’s dying, please step aside." I pleaded making him look at his father.

"Don’t waste time please!"

"What are you going to do? Are you a doctor?" The doctor asked.

"I’m a Healer!" I announced making him gasp and look at the Count.

"Please don’t waste any more time or even I might not be able to do anything." I said looking at Alan and he pursed his lips before he stepped aside.

I went ahead and looked at the blonde woman lying on the bed completely emaciated except for the bloating belly. She looked at me with her dazed eyes and I frowned.

I activated my Mana Eyes and looked at her belly, there were twins and both of them seemed to be suffocating. She was also losing a lot of blood so, her life was also oozing out of her.

She sniffled and I inhaled deeply before I placed my hand over her forehead.

[Supreme Healing Activated.]

I felt my mana flowing out of my being and encompassing her and healing her tired and dying body and her babies. The babies seemed to move as they gained energy and I could see them pushing to get out.

I looked at the Doctor, "The babies are healthy, please proceed with the delivery."

"But the bleeding."

"Hurry or they will suffocate." I ordered and the doctor moved.

The Count and Alan stood behind me and I reached out and held Angelina’s hand.

"Don’t worry, you will lead a happy life with your babies, My Lady." I assured her with a smile as she was completely healed.

She looked at me with a flushed face and tearful eyes as she clenched my hand back and the doctor did his work.

There was a sound of a baby’s cry making me look up, the doctor carried the baby in his arms.

"It’s a healthy baby boy!" He announced before he handed the newborn to a maid who was standing in wait.

He went in for another baby and after a seconds there was a cry of another baby and Angelina breathed loudly.

"It’s a healthy baby girl!" He announced before he placed the baby in another maid’s arms.

"Sh-She’s still bleeding!" The doctor gasped and I smiled nodding, as I reactivated the Healing spell.

Within a couple of seconds, the doctor smiled, "I-It’s stopped."

I looked at Angelina who gulped with the sweat and tears flowing down her face.

"Congratulations on becoming a mother." I said with a smile and she sniffled.

"Thank you... Thank you...." I brushed my hand over her hair.

If only there was a healer or someone who was capable of saving my mother at that time then I might have had a mother in this life.
