Chapter 221: 220. Rumble At Florian (1)

The next day we were on the road again and I was contemplating the time it would take to reach the capital.

We had a couple of villages to cross before we were facing the walls tha fringed the main city of Florian.

I poked my head out of the window and looked at the line in front of me.

"Whoa, that’s a long queue." I muttered.

"M-Miss Mirielle, you should not get your head out of the window like this! It’s dangerous!" The knights riding close to my carriage gasped and I chuckled.

"I’m sorry, I just wanted to see what was taking so long."

I sat back inside and the door opened up before Sir Asher climbed in.

"What’s the matter?" I asked as he took a seat in front of me.

"The queue is pretty long and since there is checking going on ahead that’s why I came in here,"

I tilted my head a little as he added, "The people shouldn’t know that you are a Saintess before the Pope could announce it that’s why, please understand and co-operate with me."

"Will there be any problem if people knew that I was a Healer?"

"There might be, that’s why we have to keep your Identity concealed." He told me.

"Then, what will you tell them? I mean, should I get down from this carriage?" I asked.

It was a carriage with the symbol of the temple on it, so it should either be the higher offical of the temple or a Templar knight.

The queue moved forward and soon we reached at the entrance of the gates where I could hear the knights asking for identity.

"It’s me," Sir Asher pulled the curtain aside showing his face.

"Asher Lewinstein," he identified himself.

The knights who saw him bowed slightly before they looked at me.

"And, who might this be?" He asked.

"That’s my fiance, Elle." He spoke, I flinched purposely and looked away.

"Oh, I..."

"Is there something else to confirm?" Asher asked and the knights flinched before he shook his head and stepped back.

The carriage moved and I kept my head down trying not to laugh but I guess it was giving the impression of embarrassment to Sir Asher because he quickly apologised as soon as we were out of the queue.

"Please forgive me for that lie," he said and I forced myself to stop laughing before I looked at him with a red face.

"N-No, i-it’s all right." I stammered and he looked down at his hands.

"I... I didn’t want to lie but... I didn’t have a choice." He said and I smiled.

"I-It’s all right, Sir Asher."

"I didn’t mean to embarrass you, Miss Mirielle and also the name was because-"

"I-I understand, Sir Asher!" I interrupted him and he cleared his throat.

"I’m sorry,"

We sat in silence for a while, and I observed him as he stole glances at me. If I were sitting in front of him as Ocean then I would have loved to tease him till he would be red with embarrassment.

Asher stepped out of the carriage and mounted his horse after that and I chuckled to myself soundlessly before I leaned back looking out of the window. The capital was quite a fancy place, I could see people dressed in expensive clothes walking about differentiating between rich and the poor was easy.

But what intrigued me were the two statues that were erected in the center of the market. One was of the King and other was of Saintess Miella praying and a Dragon flying over her with its tail curling around her body. It was as if the Dragon was protecting her.

The statues were quite well made and seemed beautiful and life-like. We rode all the way till a mansion which made me a bit confused. Weren’t we supposed to go to the Temple?

The carriage stopped and the door swung open and I saw Asher standing there. He gave me his hand and I stepped out.

"What is this place?" I asked.

"Um... This place is my house." He said making me frown.

The large double doors opened and I saw the two rows of servants who had gathered to welcome their Master. For a moment, I had the nostalgia of when my household people welcomed me whenever I used to appear from the main door instead of just popping up in my study or my room.

"Welcome home, Young Master!"

I could feel the curious gazes on me as Asher led me down the hall towards a middle-aged lady.

"Mrs Speil, please take care of my guest for the time being and give them the guest room of the second floor." He said and the lady who seemed like the Head maid of the place bowed politely.

"Yes, Young Master."

"I have some work to handle for now, Miss Mirielle, so for the time being please rest in this place." He said and I gave him an unsure look.

"All right," I said regardless of my doubts.

Mrs Speil led me up the stairs and towards the guest room.

"This place is so big and beautiful," I commented as I looked at the different architecture. I had seen a lot of places in Sestia but the architecture and aesthetics here were quite different.

"This place is Count Lewinstein’s manor of the capital, their main mansion is on the Western coast near the Nollus Harbor. That place is even more beautiful than this." Mrs Speil filled me in with a smile.

"Is that so? Then, I’d like to visit that mansion some time." I smiled sounding like an eager teenager.

Mrs Speil chuckled before she opened the doors of my room and gestured for me to enter. The room was way better than all the rooms I’ve stayed during my journey, if not best. The bed was quite large with the huge windows letting ample amount of sunshine inside and expensive-looking furniture.

"Wow..." I breathed as I looked at the beautiful room.

I wondered if all the rooms of this place were as good as this one, this didn’t seem like a normal guest room. It was filled with expensive decoratives and gold rimmed paintings.

"Shall I prepare the warm water for your bath, Miss?" Mrs Speil asked.

"My name is Mirielle Clarkson." I told her and she smiled.

"Miss Clarkson."

"Um... A bath sounds good." I added and she nodded.

"I shall have it arranged,"

She bowed before she stepped out, two maids stepped in after a couple of minutes and the bath was ready. The bathroom was also quite large with a huge bathtub.

"Shall we help you with the bath, Miss?" One of the young maids asked.

"No, it’s fine, I’ll do it myself."

I couldn’t possibly let you see my naked body which is devoid of any features except for the perfectly carved clay figure.

"All right, please call us if you need something,"

"I’m Nina,"

"And I’m Lilly."

The two said before they left the bathroom and I sighed before I stripped and removed my sapphire earstud reverting back to my original body.

My silver white hair flowed down my back while my little body seemed quite thinner and lighter. I stepped into the bathtub and relaxed. The first normal bath in days.

My little body was completely submerged in the water, but it didn’t affect me as such because I was able to breath underwater. I looked at the different bottles that were on the counter nearby. Different scents and oils and essentials were placed there. I looked for a bit and picked up the oil which smelled like flowers.

After a while, I dried myself off and reverted to Ocean’s female form before I stepped out of the bathroom. I dressed up and walked out feeling my stomach grumbling. I need a decent meal as well to quench my Dragon’s appetite or maybe I would have to sneak out to have a feast for myself.

I was thinking of calling over the maids who were here earlier when there was a knock on the door and Lilly stepped in.

"Miss, would you like to have a meal now?"

"Ah, yes!" I grinned.

"I’ll bring it here for you,"

She left and I sat down on the couch feeling relaxed, it was better to be back to my rich lifestyle where everything was at my fingertips.

[Defender of Divine Glory reminds you that you still have work to do.]

"I can’t work unless I’m fed and besides, I’m here in the Lewinstein manor not even in the temple so, just wait."

[Goddess of Wisdom asks you about your strategy.]

"Why ask when you’re going to see it all unfold? Do you like spoilers?"

Lilly returned with the food and laid it all on the table in front of me. I was glad that she had brought a good amount but it wouldn’t satiate my hunger. I would have to sneak out later.

"You must be a really special guest for Young Master to bestow this room to you, Miss." She said as she stood at a little distance watching me.

"Hm?"

"Sir Asher has never brought a guest in this manor, let alone a lady. Besides, he even gave you this room so..." She smiled and I cocked a brow.

"Is this room special?"

"Yes, it’s a room that is opened only for the high profile guests."

Asher really was smitten, I guess.

Besides, what was he planning? We were supposed to go to the temple straight since the Pope must be dying to see the Saintess but then, why was I here?

I would need to find out soon.
