Chapter 219: 218. Templar Knights (3)
The next morning, I woke up a bit later than usual and stretched my body feeling refreshed.
"Good morning, Saintess!" The maid who was temporarily serving me chirped brightly making me smile.
"Good morning,"
After finishing the morning routine, she helped me into a pale green dress before starting to brush my hair.
"You are really great with kids, Miss Saintess." She said and I smiled.
"I do like them when they are as adorable as Miss Wendy." I replied.
The maid brushed my long hair and stared at them for a moment as if she was entranced by them.
"Um... Are you done?" I asked and she blinked.
"Ah, just a moment," she smiled with her cheeks flushed.
"You’re really beautiful, Miss Saintess. It’s as if the Dragons have blessed you with not only the Healing magic but also with the beauty." She said as she braided my hair back.
I chuckled, it was kind of true, ny bloodline enhanced my physical features along with the other attributes.
"Thank you,"
After she was done preparing me, she told me that my knight was waiting outside for me.
"Can you please send him in?" I smiled and she bowed before she walked towards the door.
I was expecting Lyall to enter but it was Asher who came in instead followed by Lyall. Asher was dressed in a simple button down shirt with trousers and a sword hanging by his side.
"Sir Asher?" I rose to my feet and he walked up to me before bowing.
"How are you feeling now, Miss Mirielle?" He asked and I smiled.
"I’ve rested well. What about you Sir Asher? Did you sleep well?"
"Yes, I did."
I turned my head to look at Lyall who seemed like he had chewed on a lemon.
"Good morning, Sir Zoro." I smiled and he bowed.
"Good morning, My Lady."
"Did you sleep well?"
"Yes," his voice seemed a bit on edge but I knew why he was like that.
It was because he had to leave now. He had to leave me behind and commence the second part of my plan.
"I heard you were planning to travel through the villages and towns to heal people for a couple more days," Asher said while gesturing at Lyall.
"Your knight told me."
"Yes, that was the plan."
Asher sighed eyeing me carefully for a moment, "Then would you mind if the Templar knights were with you, Miss?"
"Pardon?"
"Yes, the Templar knights have sworn to protect the healers and since you are an outstanding one so, we have to protect you, Miss Mirielle." He said making me smile.
"That’s great! But..." I looked at Lyall making Asher also look at him.
"I cannot entrust you with these knights, My Lady." Lyall said.
"It’s fine, Sir Zoro. I trust Sir Asher and the Templar knights."
"My Lord told me to protect you at all costs, My Lady. He won’t be pleased to know that you were going with the Templar knights." Lyall shot a pointed glare to Asher and I could see Asher’s eyes growing sharper as well.
This couldn’t be more interesting.
"Are you trying to say that Miss Mirielle’s father doesn’t trust the Templar knights?"
"Which father would trust his precious daughter to strangers?" Lyall retorted making Asher scowl at him.
"Sir Zoro then why don’t you assure my father that I am with trustworthy people?" I spoke up clapping my hands at my chest and he looked at me, surprised.
"Pardon?"
"Yes, I mean. Father has been worried about me since the day I decided to leave but he was relieved that you were with me so, of you’re the one to tell him that I am with the Templar knights then he will feel at ease."
"Your father will flay me alive if I told him that, My Lady."
I pouted and Sir Asher narrowed his eyes at Lyall before turning his back to me while facing Lyall.
"Aren’t you being a bit too Frank with your Mistress, Sir Zoro?" He asked and I cocked my brow while he wasn’t looking.
"What do you mean?"
"A knight always follows the orders given to them and never talk back to their Masters. It seems like you haven’t been trained for that."
I rolled my eyes and shook my head, Lyall could see me from where he stood so, I shrugged my shoulders with a smile. He had to act this way so that he would have it easier to leave.
Lyall’s face contorted to that of an angry young man and I turned away to hide my laughter as it was clearly a real one. He was pissed by Asher’s words. He wasn’t even a knight in the first place.
"And you are?" Lyall asked.
"Unlike you I am strong enough to protect, Miss Mirielle and not let her be abducted by some filth again."
Lyall flinched and I waved my hand gesturing him to cut it off soon.
"I have been protecting, My Lady from the dangers since the past one month alone, unlike you who came once with your supporting team." Lyall retorted.
"From hence the dangers will be more serious so, Sir Zoro. I request you step back and let us handle the protection of Miss Mirielle."
"What if I don’t?" Lyall said taking a threatening step ahead and I sighed.
This wouldn’t end if I didn’t step ahead, but then again, it was almost to the point where I make a choice in between these two.
"Sir Asher," I spoke as I stepped ahead gently touching his arm.
"Can you please step out for a moment?" I asked, "I’d like to talk with my knight for a moment."
Asher pursed his lips for a moment before looking at Lyall with a stern glance and then stepped out of the room closing the door behind him.
I breathed deeply after he was left and Lyall opened his mouth but I raised my hand stopping him gesturing towards the door.
"Why don’t you listen to me?!" I spoke loudly gesturing him to continue.
"But, you don’t understand, My Lady!" Lyall said following suit, "My Lord had forbidden me from letting you to associate with the Temple or anyone who belonged with the Temple."
"But why? They aren’t bad people! Sir Asher and the other knights protected me!"
"You must still believe me, My Lady!" Lyall insisted and I smirked shaking my head.
"I don’t believe you! I believe what I see!" My tone and expression were quite different as I was observing Asher who was standing right outside the door and relaxing for being in my own skin.
I gestured for Lyall to go on and he nodded.
"You shouldn’t be so stubborn about things that you don’t know about, My Lady." Lyall pleaded.
"I know! I know everything so, please don’t meddle into my affairs anymore and go back home!"
"Pardon, what?!" He gasped.
"I told you to go back, go and tell father that I will choose to do what I want!" I announced.
"My Lady, please listen to me the Temple-"
"The Templar Knights are stronger than you so, I will go with them! I’ll go to the Temple in the capital."
"I won’t leave you, My Lady!" Lyall sounded resolute.
"You won’t listen to me?"
"I’m afraid I can’t, not in this matter."
"Then... Then you’re not longer my knight!" I shouted.
Lyall didn’t flinch as he stared at me with a blank gaze. Well, for an assassin it wasn’t even a bit fazing.
"Please don’t say that, My Lady! I’ve been serving you for years!" He shouted and I shook my head resisting the laughter.
"No, you’ve been serving my father and now, you will go back to him. I don’t need you here with me!"
"But, My Lady-"
"If you say anymore then I will just go and tell the Templar knights that I wish to affiliate with the temple and become a Healer acknowledged by the Pope an-and I’ll join the Order!" I threatened and Lyall feigned a gasp.
I chuckled soundlessly making him shake his head.
"No, My Lady. Please forgive God’s sake don’t say such a thing!"
"Th-Then will you leave?"
Lyall stayed silent for a moment I looked at the door, using my Mana Eyes I could see Asher’s relaxed posture and I nodded at Lyall.
"If that’s what you want then... I’ll leave." He spoke in a defeated tone.
"Good,"
I walked over to my luggage and plucked out the trinket box in which the magic devices were kept and picked up the teleportation and the communication devices.
I walked back to Lyall and put the teleportation pendant over his neck while I pinned the communication device brooch on the shirt under his cloak.
I patted his shoulders twice before place the pouch of money in his hand.
"This much money should be enough to send you back."
"Think again, My Lady." Lyall said.
"I have thought it through, Sir Zoro and my decision is made." I announced looking back once again at the door where Asher seemed even more relaxed.
I leaned on close to Lyall’s ear and asked him.
"You remember what you have to do, right?"
Lyall nodded, "Good, leave immediately and after you see Damon send me the message through this,"
I pointed at the communication device brooch.
"Yes, Master." He replied in a low voice.
"And take good care of yourself in my absence, all right?" I smiled and he nodded.
"You too, Master."
With that, Lyall and I were separated to carry out our parts in the plan.
