Chapter 164: 163. Night Of Chaos (3)
I flapped my wings as I shot through the air towards the next closest town which was Borkshire.
"Hold on! Slow down please! I-I’ll fall!" Roan shouted as his feet hung in the air while I had wrapped my arms around his waist.
"You were the one to choose this option, I was going to carry you in a better way."
"Like hell do I want to be carried like a Princess!" Roan shouted back making me sigh.
"Why can’t we teleport?!"
"I have to see the other areas as well, this problem is way bigger than what it looks." I spoke as I scanned the area using my Manager Eyes wherever I saw some beast I used a water slicer to get rid of it.
So far, I’d seen a few and all of them were dead.
"There!" I looked up to see Roan pointing at the orange glow that was emanating from the distance ahead.
"The town’s burning!" Roan shouted.
I gritted my teeth as I barked at Roan, "I’m increasing speed."
"Wait, what?!"
Roan’s voice dispersed into the air as I shot faster using the full potential of my two pairs of wings and within a few seconds we were in front of the huge fire and the scene of hellish chaos.
The people were running around terrified by the fire that was spreading rapidly from buildings to shops to houses and the beasts that were attacking.
I created a huge water ball and splashed it down over the burning establishments snuffing out the fire in one go.
"Fire is out now I’ll take care of those pests." I spoke lowering myself towards the town.
"Roan, the same instructions as last town," I ordered and looked around to see but none of the buildings were in the shape to handle people.
"Get them to the forest." I instructed.
"All right."
I let him down on the street and from there he found his way, I saw a wolf who spotted him aiming for him but a single slicer was enough to chop it off in two parts.
Strangely enough, these beasts weren’t affected by my Dragon’s Presence. Usually, the rogues whom I had come across in Frosthail weren’t like these. They had some animal instincts in them but these beasts were completely out of it.
It wasn’t a problem for me to take them out but the factor of concern were the people who were around including my assassins. None of them were strong enough to face a rogue shifter yet, if I could say then give of them put together could probably stand a chance against one rogue shifter but even that was a vague possibility.
In the team, only a few of them could take down a rogue and by a few I mean only three people including myself.
Lyall, Enora, and myself were the only ones who could take down a rogue shifter. The elves and dwarves would also be able to take down a few but only with their team work. It was impossible for any other team member to take down a rogue with their level of training.
I flapped my wings going higher up in the air and I spotted the wolves chasing the horde of people who were trying to get away from them.
I shot the water slicers at the rogues taking their heads out in an instant before I looked at the people.
"Go towards the forest, follow the red haired guy who is gathering people." I shouted making the people who were disoriented look at each other fortunately, there were two of my assassins within the crowd who understood.
"Master Ocean?" One of them recognised me and I fixed my eyes on him.
"Take them to the forest." I ordered.
"Yes, Master!" The two replied in unison before they started leading the people towards the forest.
I saw a few of my assassins who were starting to follow the lead of Roan and guiding people away from the town.
"Hurry, towards the forest!"
A few rogues followed the people towards the forest but I cut them apart before they could do that.
I scanned the area for more rogues and brought the remaining survivors back to the forest where Roan and the assassins were tending to the critical patients.
"Casualties?" I asked Roan.
"Fortunately, the number of casualties is less," he answered making me sigh.
"We should head to the next town, these guys said that some of those monsters ran away." Roan said pointing at my assassins.
"All right,"
After taking care of the situation back in Borkshire, we made our way to the Crigston. Roan had grabbed a large sword and a few medical supplies and this time he obliged to be carried like a Princess since he couldn’t handle the aerial ride by hanging.
We used the same strategy that we did with the other towns with I taking out the beasts and him guiding people to safety and giving them the emergency first aid.
By looking at the beasts and with the way the things were turning out, I could see what was going on. But I couldn’t do anything else but just wait for the time being and solve this matter that came up because of my one small miscalculation.
Roan seemed like he was having a field day with looking after patients, running around bandaging the wounds and fixing dislocated bones of the people who were attacked.
It was a good thing that the number of casualties was still less but the amount of mana that I was spending was making it harder for me to keep up with the individual attacks.
After making sure that the things in Crigston were under control we made our way towards Lozar which was the final town to be cleansed.
"I might have to go all out in next town." I mumbled making Roan look at me as he was in my arms.
"Are you getting exhausted?" He asked, despite him being drenched by sweat.
"I’m running out of mana, I can’t go on with individual attacks."
"I can fight them," he offered.
"No, you do your work, I’ll do mine."
He fell silent for a moment before he spoke up, "I guess I understand why those girls go crazy over you."
"Why?"
"It rather feels safe and secure when you’re around." He spoke and I noticed the tips of his ears red.
He was embarrassed while saying this but I guess his intention of saying this was to lighten my tensing mood.
"You’re a bit too brutish for my taste, Roan." I replied with the hint of a teasing tone.
"Who the hell wants to be your type?!" He shouted making me laugh.
We reached the next town within a few minutes and the mood that was lightened a little was snuffed out in a second as we noticed the kind of chaos that was ensuing there.
"You’ve got to be kidding me." Roan gasped as we looked down at the Lozar town which was engulfed in fire with the people being feasted upon by the rogues.
The other towns at least had my people look after it but Lozar seemed like it had gone to the next level of destruction. I spotted three of my assassins trying to fight against a large bear but one of them was missing an arm, the second was cradling his abdomen and the third one seemed like he was about to give up.
I swooped in and took the head of the wolf out making the three to slump on the ground in relief and probably also because of exhaustion and blood loss.
"Roan, I’ll leave them to you." I said as I let Roan down.
"But where should I bring them this time? It’s a bloodbath everywhere."
I sighed as I looked around us, the fiery glow of bloody orange had swallowed the town and I couldn’t think of anything and none of the town was left anymore.
"I’ll put out the fire first then, I’ll tell you."
"All right."
I flapped my wings and coughed lightly as I went high up in the air, the smoke was too thick.
I created a huge water ball and let it fall onto the burning town dousing the huge fire in an instant before I looked down at the remnants of the town and the disoriented people who were drenched out of nowhere.
The warning about me overusing my mana flashed before my eyes and I sighed. There was no choice anymore, I would have to use the last resort attack now. Hopefully, there wouldn’t be too many people who would end up as collateral damage.
"Roan, take them towards the uphill and hurry!" I shouted pointing at the direction of the mountains that acted as the large natural walls for Lozar.
"All right!" He hollered back and started gathering people.
The beasts unfazed by the sudden waterfall kept at their seige while I landed on the ground in the middle of the town with my mind made.
This was the last resort so, I guess I could go a little overboard.
I activated my Dragon’s Presence at full scale making the closest rogues to sense me this time. I saw their heads turning as they looked for me and I turned the notch more to attract all the rogues to me.
The ground under my feet trembled and sunk in because of the impact of the Dragon’s Presence being on such a high level.
"Come to the light bugs." I mumbled as I waited for the rogues to attack me.
These bastards weren’t the normal rogues who would flew at the sensation of my Dragon’s Presence. These ones were definitely the kinds who would rush towards me after sensing danger.
My plan worked as I saw the rogues turning and rushing towards me.
I inhaled deeply and exhaled through my mouth as I gathered all my mana to shoot the final attack.
I could feel almost every rogue in the area rushing towards me when I heard the sound of something which was quite different than I expected.
The closest rogue wolf from me was just a few steps away and I was completely prepared for my attack. Just as I was abouuld’ve release my attack a large black and blue spear flew towards me out of nowhere and stabbed through the head of the rogue wolf before lodging on the ground near my feet.
