Chapter 165: 164. Night Of Chaos (4)

I stared at the long black spear which had a silver blade and blue inscriptions that ran up the black staff.

It wasn’t something that I had seen before but that wasn’t the only surprising thing. Apart from the spear which was nailing down the dead body of a rogue wolf there was the sound of the metals clanging and footsteps rushing towards me.

I spotted them before I felt the sense of relief as I saw the familiar redheaded person leading an army and taking out the rogues in their way.

"Talk about timing." I mumbled as I stopped my attack letting my mana settle and sliced the necks of the few rogues who were the closest to attacking me.

I smiled as I saw the few other familiar faces swinging their swords and taking out the rogues. Well, these guys were the professionals when dealing with the rogues after all, the Seraph Knights and the one leading them, Grand Duchess Dahlia Montaire.

Lady Dahlia Montaire along with a battalion of Seraph Knights was charging towards the horde of rogues that I had managed to lure in one area.

It was as if the tides had turned on the beasts as apart from having a Dragon they had an entire battalion of professional shifter killers on their backs.

I grabbed the black spear and pulled it off the ground before I saw the woman who had thrown that spear. Her fiery red hair was brushing over her shoulders and her armor was already stained with blood as she walked towards me. The scene around her would have given chills to any normal person as the knights were shiny silver armors were slashing and impaling the beasts.

"It’s been a long time since I saw you, Master Ocean." Lady Dahlia said making me chuckle.

It wasn’t quite long for me since I just saw her and her family at the banquet not long ago.

"It has been indeed," I said before I saw her stretch her right arm to me and I grasped it gently before pressing it over my lips covered by my mask.

"I didn’t expect to see you here but then again, I’m not surprised." She admitted making me smile.

I guess it meant that it was unexpected to see me there but since there was a commotion and chaos going on so, me being there wasn’t as surprising.

"We have quite a lot to discuss, Master Ocean." She said and I nodded.

"Yes, I guess we do."

We were quite unfazed by the battle that was going around us and the howls and the sound of metal cutting through flesh was taking up the silence between our conversation.

"Here you go." I said handing her spear back.

"I didn’t know you were a spear user." I prompted making her chuckle.

"There’s still a lot of things that you don’t know, Master Ocean." She smirked making me laugh.

That was quite a contradictory statement as I was striving to know it all but there were still holes in my information. But still with my information network spreading its roots deeper and wider across the boundaries of the territories around me it was only the matter of time before I would be controlling the lives of everyone on my radar.

The blood was splashing around in the air and I didn’t have to do anything more than just wait in my place and behead any other rogue that came particularly in my direction.

The fight didn’t even last that long after the entry of the extra hands on my side and before the first rays of the dawn broke through the eastern horizon all of the towns were liberated from the night of terror.

"Roan take the Grand Duchess and the Seraph Knights to Ryujin mansion for treatment, I’ll take care of the rest things here."

"All right," he answered making me look once at Lady Dahlia and those who were looking at me with anticipating gazes.

"I know you must have a lot of things to ask but we’ll talk after you’ve rested." I told Lady Dahlia who smiled instead.

"I understand, I’ll wait till you are free."

The aftermath was quite a hassle, the four towns were destroyed to a great extent because of the sudden seige causing a lot of property and livelihood damage.

The people who were distraught and had nowhere to go ended up in Oasis Foundation for the time being as I was the provider of free medical treatment for everyone.

Apart from the victims of those towns, the ones who had helped in the times of the crisis were also provided with the medical treatment and a short vacation for their mental and physical recovery.

The sudden seige had created a huge wave of tension across the kingdom as no one had the answers of what had exactly made this happen.

The attacks of rogues within the kingdom apart from Frosthail were impossible unless the Gate was malfunctioning which was an impossibility or someone was purposely letting the beasts into the kingdom.

The news articles about the negligence of Grand Duke were spreading like forest fire and the unrest among the people was also substantially growing.

Those who were directly affected in these attacks had no idea of why their ordinary lives had fallen apart and now they had nowhere to go.

I decided to give them a chance to restart their lives in one of my both cities and be funded by the Oasis Foundation till they started their livelihood again. Their children would get free education in my school and they would get free medical treatment at my hospital.

It took me three days to resolve the aftermath of the chaotic night and finally after I had taken care of the urgent matters I returned to Ryujin mansion.

There were no injured members amongst the Seraph Knights and Lady Dahlia herself was also unscathed.

After I was sure that everything was taken care of, I was finally meeting Lady Dahlia who was waiting for me.

The place for our meeting was my parlor where Lady Dahlia, Sir Adler, two more knights, Roan, Remi and I were present for the discussion of what happened in the towns of Lozar and the other three.

"How have you been?" She asked and I smiled.

"I’m good as always, Your Grace. What about you? How is your health? And I hope His Grace, Grand Duke is also in great health."

She sighed shaking her head, "We are well but, I have a question regarding you not responding to my son’s letters." She said making me tilt my head to one side with the smile still there.

"And what would I write in return, Your Grace? I have done what he wanted and aren’t you also happy to be back to your home with your family?"

"I am, but that’s a different issue. My son expects to hear back from you. You could at least let him know that you are fine and ask if he was doing good."

"I know how Young Master Davian is and his whereabouts even when he’s on the battlefield, Your Grace."

Her eyebrows twitched as I said that and having no response from her I continued.

"I had a role in Young Master Davian’s life a few months ago and I fulfilled it as of now, he doesn’t need me that’s why I’m keeping my distance. When the time comes, we will meet again but as of now this is what should happen."

"Why do you always talk as if you decide everything?" She asked sounding slightly exasperated.

I chuckled at that, "That’s what I try to do, Your Grace."

I heard a scoff from behind her and saw Sir Adler who was standing upright fully healed from his injury.

"I see you’ve recovered well, Sir Adler." I said making the said man look at me sharply.

"Say what you want, Sir Adler." I smiled making him sigh.

"I never expected you to leave us without a word, Sir Ocean."

"That’s how it was supposed to be," I shrugged my shoulders.

"What about that incident then? Was it created by you?"

"Do you think I could do something like that?"

He sighed and stopped talking as Lady Dahlia leaned forward.

"It was quite a big incident and has caused a lot of damage to our name." She said.

"The other nobles are having great fun trying to rip your reputation to shreds," I added.

"And since you’re here, the King would want you to be called over for a scolding or report."

Lady Dahlia’s eyebrows furrowed slightly and she looked at me.

"Wouldn’t you be called over to the palace to report about the incident?" Lady Dahlia asked me as I leisurely sat in front of her.

"No, King knows better than to summon me, besides, I have already sent a report to the royal palace two days ago so, he wouldn’t want to pry more."

Lady Dahlia seemed a little surprised at my words and she asked, "How are you able to do it all? The King wouldn’t pry into this matter just because you are involved? Is he scared of you?"

I laughed at that, "I wish he was, but no, not for that reason. It’s because I’ve given him what he wanted and he will be distracted by that temporarily that’s why he won’t bother us."

Lady Dahlia seemed curious now but I wasn’t going to tell her. It was time for the King to start to see the Queen as his enemy and for that, I had made all the preparations. All I had to do was sit back and let the things happen and act accordingly when the time comes.
