Chapter 1519: They’re All Dead Bones

Chapter 1519: Chapter 1519: They’re All Dead Bones

Since everyone coexisted under the same environment, they were equals, and the people of this small county town deserved their fate for slaughtering so many of the Demon Clan—what befell them as backlash was only justice!

"Maybe, let’s look a little longer,"

Zimo responded quietly.

Even if these people were indeed seeking revenge, since they had accepted that woman’s quest, they still had to try to save them.

"Stay close to me. There might be some kind of trap or hidden passage here; we need to thoroughly investigate this place."

"Okay."

Lin Caisang naturally replied in agreement.

Reaching out, she tightly grasped Zimo’s left arm, and the two began to search the ritual site.

...

’Boom—’

As a loud noise resonated, a stone slab was gradually moved aside at the most desolate part of the ritual site, revealing a long stone staircase.

"Should we go down and take a look?"

Zimo asked as he looked at her.

Dusk was approaching; he knew the young girl disliked doing this sort of thing at night the most.

Well, since the secret passage was already discovered, it would be the same if they came back to inspect it tomorrow.

"Let’s go, just get the torches ready," Lin Caisang said, biting her lip.

Since it was an underground tunnel, even if they came during the daytime, it would still be pitch black once inside, making no difference at all.

But if they didn’t go down now and waited until tomorrow, it was very likely that whatever could be found would be gone; the Demon Clan would definitely clear this place out and then depart.

"Then stay close to me," Zimo reminded her.

"Okay."

Lin Caisang answered once more, now with a torch in her hand, which she offered to Zimo.

"Here."

...

As they descended, the two encountered no dangers, however...

When they continued on the pitch-dark path and came upon a vast cave, the scene before them was shocking.

"This is... this is..."

Lin Caisang trembled, her red lips struggling to form a complete sentence.

"It’s okay, I’m here, I’m right here,"

Zimo reassured her, one hand holding the torch while the other gently patted her back.

But even he was stunned upon seeing the scene before him.

In that winding cave, beyond a single pathway, everywhere else was piled with bones—both new and old—and the sight was terrifying indeed.

"These... these are..."

"These aren’t the bones of those who have just died," Zimo took over her words and continued.

Even though the flesh of some people had been made into dishes, these bones here were not of those people, but rather...

"I know."

Lin Caisang swallowed hard.

She could certainly tell these weren’t those bones, but, all these piling up were the bones of the Demon Clan.

"How could so many of the Demon Clan be dead? Did the people of this county annihilate the entire Demon Clan?"

Otherwise, where would so many bones come from? It was horrifying. According to this, it was no surprise that those people had turned into zombies; it seemed like a cycle of cause and effect.

"There are a few pots over there, let’s check them out," Zimo said, avoiding Lin Caisang’s question.

But with so many bones, even if they hadn’t exterminated the Demon Clan, they had certainly provoked their murderous instincts; how could the Demon Clan not seek revenge?

Ignoring the bones, he looked toward the other side.

"Oh."

Lin Caisang replied softly and followed Zimo toward the direction of the pots.

"These... are all for cooking, aren’t they?"
