Chapter 1518: Chapter 1518: The Blood of the Demon Clan People
And that flesh, could it be...
"I left a scent on those two bodies," Sui Zimo said as he looked at her.
"Brother Molian, you are really amazing!"
Lin Caisang’s eyes shone as she gave him a thumbs up. Leaving a scent meant they could follow it however they needed.
"Quick, let’s follow it now."
What else were they waiting for? They had to chase quickly. She grabbed Sui Zimo and rushed towards the exit of the courtyard.
If they waited for the bodies to be turned into meat, it would be too late. Even the best tracking scent would be useless if every undead in each county had it on them.
There would be nothing to investigate then.
"Let’s go."
Sui Zimo also knew there was no time to delay and immediately led Lin Caisang in pursuit.
...
"Is this the place?"
Following the scent, they found themselves in an increasingly desolate area, eventually arriving at a barren land.
"How can there be such a desolate place in a county? What is this place used for, Brother Molian?" she wondered aloud to Sui Zimo, feeling perplexed.
This place made her quite uncomfortable, as if she was being tied to one of those pillars alive.
"It’s a sacrificial site."
Sui Zimo looked at the pillars and the darkened color on them, clearly bloodstains left over from a long time ago.
He said.
"Hiss!"
Lin Caisang involuntarily took a sharp inhale of breath.
"Could this be the place where the Demon Clan kills people?"
"No,"
Sui Zimo shook his head, denying her suggestion.
"These bloodstains are darkened, mostly seeped into the stone pillars. It suggests that this sacrificial site was not constructed overnight. It’s probably not the blood of those without hearts."
He led Lin Caisang over, scraped some stone chips off a pillar with his long sword, and sniffed them close to his nose.
The next moment, he frowned immediately.
"Demon Clan’s blood," he stated.
"What?!"
Lin Caisang was shocked, quickly taking the long sword from his hand to smell the stone chips on the blade.
"It is indeed the Demon Clan’s blood."
But why would there be Demon Clan blood here? How could such an inconspicuous small county have the blood of so many Demon Clan members?
"Brother Molian, check the other pillars to see if they all have Demon Clan blood on them," she said to Sui Zimo.
"Okay."
Sui Zimo responded.
But he didn’t let go of Lin Caisang; instead, he took her with him to examine the bloodstains.
After a while, they had checked all the surrounding pillars. Without exception, they all had bloodstains from the Demon Clan, and upon closer inspection, he found that these stains had accumulated over many years.
In other words, this seemingly insignificant county had been sacrificing Demon Clan members with their blood for how many years...
"Brother Molian, I suspect that those heartless ones were retaliated against by the Demon Clan," Lin Caisang said as she examined the bloodstains, feeling a chill run through her body. If it weren’t for the fact that those people had become undead, she would have wholeheartedly cursed them out.
Or even beat them up!
Aren’t Demon Clan members human too? Should they be allowed to be killed just like that?
Ever since she started taking on virtual tasks, she had never considered any race here to be superior to others.
