Chapter 1520: Chapter 1520: More Things Than Expected!

Lin Caisang glanced at the pots, then at Sui Zimo and said,

"There are a few bodies over there. It seems that the Demon Clan was cooking here," Sui Zimo said.

Upon hearing this, Lin Caisang looked in the direction Sui Zimo was looking and immediately wanted to vomit. She had seen plenty of corpses and cut into them during surgeries, doing what needed to be done.

But here, she simply couldn’t suppress her disgust.

"It looks like those people have retreated."

The Demon Clan was on high alert; otherwise, how could they have retreated so quickly?

"Let’s see if there’s anything else to discover," Sui Zimo suggested.

The two of them began to examine the cave slowly, but aside from the bones of the dead on the ground, there was really nothing else to be found.

And those were mostly the bones of the Demon Clan.

"There’s nothing at all. The Demon Clan really left thoroughly," Lin Caisang shrugged and remarked.

Sui Zimo’s gaze once again swept around the area. He didn’t speak until much later when he focused on the several large pots.

"Sang’er, why do you think there are so many bones of the Demon Clan here?" he asked Lin Caisang in a faint voice.

"Hmm?"

Lin Caisang was taken aback by his question and looked up at him.

"Brother Molian, what do you mean?"

Was there something wrong with there being so many bones of the Demon Clan? The altar was meant for sacrifices using the Demon Clan, after all.

Then, was it wrong for those people to bring the sacrificed members of the Demon Clan here and just leave them?

However...

Her gaze followed Sui Zimo’s, slowly moving towards the pots, and her heart suddenly skipped a beat.

"You couldn’t be saying... that the people in this county... No way, Brother Molian."

She shook her head, refusing to believe that the people of the county could be that horrifying.

Having seen the sacrificial altar before had already demonstrated the cruelty of the county’s people. If this was true as well, then they really were devoid of any humanity!

She couldn’t help but swallow hard, feeling quite terrified.

"We will know once we check," Sui Zimo said.

Sui Zimo drew his sword and harshly scraped it against the cauldron, making a grating sound.

Then, Lin Caisang leaned in and took a careful sniff, immediately furrowing her brows.

"Besides the smell of iron and human flesh, there is a strong scent of the Demon Clan, not something that could be left overnight," she reported to Sui Zimo.

Indeed, Brother Molian’s thoughts were correct—the people of this county were utterly devoid of conscience!

Not satisfied with just killing and sacrificing those from the Demon Clan, they even turned them into a delicacy to eat! This was simply... She couldn’t fathom what sort of beings the people of this county truly were!

It seemed she needed to redefine the nature of this mission.

"Let’s go back first," Zimo said, sheathing his sword.

Lin Caisang nodded.

...

’Slap!’

A slap landed on the face of a man with green floral patterns on his cheeks.

"I’m sorry, clan leader, I really didn’t expect those two to be so powerful," the man who got slapped didn’t feel wronged but instead apologized to the elder in front of him.

"What you didn’t expect! There’s a lot that you didn’t expect!" the elder rebuked, holding a walking stick and banging it forcefully on the ground.

If it weren’t for his quick reaction to retreat through the secret passage under the sacrificial altar, they would have all fallen into the hands of those two!
