Chapter 90: Chapter 90- The Disciplinary Elder

Yang Chen walked out of the inn and wandered the streets of the Cloud city. Filling out his stomach with all the various food, he stopped in front of the notice board, grabbed the notice that was pinned there and started walking.

Soon his path led him to a familiar road and before long he was standing in front of an imposing gate whose plaque read the words Zhang Clan.

Why was he here? Hehe... that was because it was time for him to carry out his plan, the initial phase of the destruction of the Zhang clan.

Seeing a man donned in a black robe from head to toe approach their gates, the guards stationed there hurriedly straightened their weapons and shouted.

"Stop there. This is the residence of the Zhang clan, outsiders unless invited aren’t allowed". Yang Chen stopped a few meters away from them and explained his reason for coming here.

"You see, I have a business with your Zhang clan" He showed them the notice they put up on the notice board a few days ago and said. "It seems you guys are looking for an alchemist who can treat your first elder".

Alchemist? The two guards looked at Yang Chen from head to toe with a sceptical light before scoffing.

"Tch... it looks like yet another fool walked up to our doorstep without knowing what is good for them" one of the guards spoke dismissively.

"You there, if you know what’s best for you, get lost. I will give you three breaths of time, if you are still there, don’t blame me for not being polite".

He waved his hand as if shooing away a dog. He had seen many people like Yang chen coming to their doorstep blinded by the reward promised in the notice. However, all of them turned out to be quacks pretending to be Alchemists.

The guard thought that the man in front of him was another con. It was not the guard’s fault for that fact, that was just how shady Yang Chen looked.

Even though his features had completely changed and his appearance was nothing like before, he still covered his face with a hood.

That being said, the brash attitude of the guard rubbed Yang Chen the wrong way. Who was he shooing away like that? If nothing else, he had to at least teach the other some respect.

And so Yang Chen stood his ground and stared at the guards defiantly. He wanted to see what a mere Seven Star Battle Apprentice could do to him.

Seeing that the man refused to listen and did not walk away even after three breaths of time, the guard became impatient and released his battle energy. He thought that with his Seven Star strength, Yang Chen who did not even emit any battle energy, would be cowered and immediately run away.

However, contrary to his expectation the other party stood his ground all unfazed.

"Since you refuse the toast, don’t blame me if you end up suffering a loss" The guard grit his teeth and came rushing at Yang Chen. His fist which carried the strength of a Seven Star Battle Apprentice came swinging at him.

However, before the guard’s fist could even connect, it was casually caught by Yang Chen who gave it a slight twist as if it was a twig.

Crack...

a cracking noise of bones being crushed sounded out followed by the agonising cry of the guard who had been acting all high and mighty since the start.

"Get lost" Yang Chen snorted and kicked the grovelling guard sending him flying back to the gates of the Zhang clan where he crashed there with a loud bang.

The other guard who was standing near the gate, opened and closed their mouth a couple of times gawking in surprise. Everything happened so fast that the guard couldn’t even see anything.

He saw his friend rushing towards the intruder and then come flying back the next second. Although he did not know what happened, he could tell that the person in the black robe wasn’t an ordinary person.

"What’s going on? What is with all the commotion?" Just when the guard was wondering how he should handle the situation, a powerful aged voice sounded out from inside the gates. A second later, a middle aged man walked out.

"T-Third Elder" looking at the man, the guard hurriedly cupped his hands.

The former nodded his head, and looked at the other guard who was knocked unconscious by Yang Chen before asking "What happened here?".

The guard immediately recounted the events that transpired here a few moments ago. Of course, he made sure to recount it in a way that showed him and his friend in a better light.

After listening to the guard, the third elder who was also the disciplinary elder of the Zhang clan, turned his attention towards Yang Chen. Given his strength, he could instantly see that the other party was a young man.

Although he couldn’t see their strength because of the robe and the system, given that they were able to effortlessly defeat a guard who was a Seven Star Battle Apprentice, it at least said that they were Eight Star or above.

"This friend here, what business do you have with my Zhang clan?" Of course the guard had told him everything, but he wanted to hear it from the person in question himself.

Just like the elder wanted, Yang Chen told him the reason. Although he sounded firm and unfazed on the outside, in truth Yang Chen was panicking inwardly.

He thought that if he revealed his identity as an alchemist, his plans would go swimmingly. He would be able to sneak inside the Zhang clan and scout the enemy’s strength from within.

However, contrary to his expectation, not only the guards stopped him in front of the gates, he was forced to even engage in a fight. Not to mention, the situation escalated further and now the disciplinary elder stood in front of him.

In a situation where he did not know how powerful his enemies were, it was extremely foolish to pick a fight with them. Yang Chen who learned the laws of the jungle understood this very well.
