Chapter 89: Chapter 89- Posing as an Alchemist
Yang Chen’s eyes stared intently at the last process which was also the most important process in alchemy, the formation of the pill.
This process was by far the most complex and difficult process that many alchemists in this world find themselves getting stuck at. If this process was not performed well, the entire pill runs the risk of exploding and turning into dust.
And even by some mistake it does form, the pill wouldn’t even have one tenth of the effect it should originally have. Thus the last process needed the most concentration and effort from the alchemists.
However, Yang Chen did not have to worry about such things since he had the Divine Skill doing everything for him.
Finally, after what took him more than three hours, a small pill the size of a pea, levitated inside the cauldron. The process was a success and the pill had formed.
Yang Chen motioned with his finger and the pill immediately flew towards him. The moment it came out of the cauldron, it filled the room with its bountiful smell and refreshing feeling.
The pill that he had formed, was called the Energy Gathering pill, the very same tier 1 pill that he used to purchase from the shop. It increases the rate at which one gathers battle energy from their surroundings.
Looking at the shiny, clear glim of the pill, Yang Chen nodded his head in satisfaction. This was a perfectly made pill with no flaws and no different than the ones he was used to seeing in the shop.
It not only retained all of the medicinal power from the ingredients he used, but also the energy from the core stone.
The pill he created was better than most of the pills of its tier in the market. This said that he was already better than most of the entry level alchemists out there already.
This was Yang Chen’s first time trying his hand at alchemy and he had successfully refined a pill on his first try. An accomplishment that listed him among the small number of people in this entire world who had actually achieved it themselves.
That being said, refining a tier 1 pill took him more than three hours. The reason for that was because Yang Chen had only learned a fraction of the skill of the [Great Sage Emperor’s Pill Vision].
There were still more volumes left inside the space ring for him to read. Plus his flame attribute battle skill, the [Great Napalm Command] was also in its beginner completion stage. It was no wonder that it took him so long.
As his skills upgraded further, naturally it would take him a shorter time in the future.
"It looks like refining that pill raised the completion rate of the Battle Skill by quite a bit" To back his words, Yang Chen could already see some progress in his Great Napalm Command that he just learned recently.
Although there was still a lot of progress to be made before the completion rate went up to the intermediate stage, he could definitely see the bar filling up.
"Alright, time to practice more, one cannot claim themselves as an alchemist just because they have successfully managed to refine one pill. One needs to refine at least ten pills successfully in a row and only then can they say they are an alchemist".
With a determination to become an Alchemist, Yang Chen started refining more pills. He already had the necessary ingredients in his ring. As such, he did not have to worry about running out of ingredients in the short term.
Of course, whatever he knew about alchemy was from the book and the Divine Skill from the the Great Sage Emperor whose knowledge and proficiency in alchemy had reached the level of divine.
Everything that was recorded in that book was how the Great Sage Emperor viewed the alchemy, his understanding and the beliefs that he held for it.
And so, Yang Chen with his limited knowledge about the world was unaware that whatever he spouted was extremely nonsensical and out of the reach of almost all alchemists. One needs to refine at least ten pills successfully in a row and only then can they say they are alchemists?
Not mentioning how there was a chance of failure associated with refining a pill every time, even the top tier alchemists in the world wouldn’t claim that they can refine pills successfully ten times in a row.
However, Yang Chen had no way of knowing that right now. He believed everything that the book recorded was correct and thus it shaped his perverse way of thinking. In the future as he further hones his skill in alchemy, his thinking and beliefs would further deviate from the norm and common sense of the world.
But for now, like a child who got his favourite toy, Yang Chen became so engrossed with alchemy that he forgot about the passage of time completely.
Success... Success... Success... Success... Only after finishing refining the tenth pill, did he keep the cauldron down.
"Argh!!" Yang Chen stretched his body and stood up. When he looked outside the window, the sun had already set and it was evening now. He was so engrossed that an entire day had passed by and he didn’t even realise it.
Though that may be the case, it was not like he wasted the day without any gains. As Yang Chen opened his palm, ten marble sized pills with an ambient medicinal aura around them, appeared.
There were three types of pills in his hand, one was the Energy Gathering pill, and the other two were the Snow Heart pill and the Foundation Strengthening pill.
All of them were tier 1 pill and of course, the usage of all three pills was different with their own applications. If one was used to gather battle energy faster, the other was used to strengthen one’s base which was their body.
As for the the Snow Heart pill, it was used during training.
Looking at all the pills with a smile, Yang Chen put them in bottles and only then did he get out of his room. He had been cooped up in his room for so long that his stomach was starting to grumble.
