Chapter 91: 2.25.3 Burn!!

"Mummy, I don’t like it here." A young girl said, while shivering in the cold, as her mother took her into her bosom, warming her up.

"I know... no one likes the cold. I have asked ..... to light up some woods." Names that the girl didn’t know flowed out of the woman’s mouth, but the young girl didn’t find it odd. All she thought was her fate and why she had to live here."

"Mummy... you know what I mean... I have seen in the books, there are places that stay warm throughout the years... why can’t we go and live there?" The young girl asked, much to her mother’s dismay who wondered if she should say it or not.

"It’s true, there are places that are warmer than our home. But they are dangerous as well."

"Dangerous? Hah! Papa can hunt four wolves on his own, who can even defeat him?" The young girl proudly said to her mother, while waving her hand in the air, but when the cold hit her hand, she hurriedly stuff them back into her blanket.

"Haha! Yes, your papa is very strong, so is your uncle and cousins. But its due to their strength that we have to live here."

"?? What do you mean mummy?"

"You will know soon, your cousin ..... Is going to go through the ceremony during the full moon. I will take you to see it."

Those were the last words Remira recalled, as her eyes opened and she found herself on an operating table.

"You are awake?" The woman in front of her was none other than Number two, a Blue eye who had the job of collecting information while also having some medical skills.

Currently she was the one overlooking Remira’s recovery, which happened a bit faster than before.

"How long was I out for?" Ignoring the dream she just had, the words that the puppeteer told her along with the information he gave to her were fresh in her mind. It was as if it was not an illusion or dream, but reality.

Those memories were much clearer than ever as she looked at Number two before choosing to keep her mouth shut.

"A day at most, the poison was burnt from your blood a few hours ago." Number two explained, as she moved forward to take a look at Remira’s vitals, white she continued. "Though oddly, your injuries from the battle healed at a faster rate than expected. The old Knight Karion is still in coma."

Hearing those words, Remira recalled how she was fed with anti-venom, before being brought away from there by the old Knight. "So Karion was his name?"

"He didn’t speak of his name till the end huh?" Number two smiled, finding the old knight’s action to be a bit childish, but she probably understood why he did it. "Where is he? I should at least see the man that saved my life?"

Remira asked, while Number two removed the saline Solution from Remira’s wrist. "For now, just stay here. We still don’t know in detail about what happened. None of you were in any state to give a report."

With those words, the Captain of the Radiant Knights entered the room with a gloomy face, which caused countless ideas to pop up in Remira’s head, each worse than the other. But she remained in her place. Ready to give a report.

"Sir Clifford!" Remira said, giving a proper Knight’s salute, which she stopped the moment the captain nodded to her.

"Explain to me, who pushed you to such a state and whether this person is dead or not?" The captain was not in a good mood and Remira can see to it easily.

A routine checkup caused the loss of another two knights and if not for the Carrion’s prior preparation for any kind of accidents, they might have already been dead.

So Remira started to tell the story fromt the start, telling what happened and how it all happened. The Captain listened with a calm face before asking once again.

"You speak of Knight Carrion killing a Master level foe, which is improbable. I am not one to downplay the strength of my men, but this is the same person that Killed the Quteel brothers." The captain asked a simple question, which was understandable considering the foe Remira faced before.

But Remira’s instinct still told her that something was wrong, something that was not right.

"The puppeteer came to help us... I only saw him for a while and the next thing I saw was Knight Carion’s sword through that man’s chest."

Reira explained the information in detail, how she was fed the anti-venom and how little she recalls as she came here.

But seeing that there had been no change in the Captain’s expression for a while, she was finally sure of one thing.

’He is suspicious about me.’

She didn’t know how or why it happened, but she knew one thing. Captain Clifford didn’t trust her. Probably the reason why Knight Carrion was not treated right next to her. And was someplace else.

Probably done to protect him. Or there was also a chance he was already dead?

Remira soon removed those thoughts from her head, she thought for a while, before continuing. "There is something else I would like to inform you of. A meeting that I had with the Puppeteer while I was sleeping."

Whether those memories were dreams or reality, or just something her mind dreamed up, she chose to speak of her small meeting along with what happened in that dream. Which finally broke the gloomy face of the captain, who fell into deep thoughts after hearing her words.

"This place, is it in your mind?"

"Two kilometer away from the Durum Train station in a warehouse, as for which one, the information says the warehouse will be marked."

*****

Captain Vance Clifford walked out of the room where Remira was held, while sighing deeply. The information he just received was too much, but considering events that have transpired a day ago, this was the least of their worries.

Not to mention, if Remira’s words were to be believed, they don’t have to search in dark anymore.

"So, did she say anything about it?" An old voice called out which belonged to none other than the old Knight Carrion, who seemed fine and dandy, beside appearing a bit worse for wear as his face was pale, appearing as if someone that just survived a great illness.

"She didn’t hide it, spoek the truth and something more." Clifford explained in detail what happened, which put Carrion in some thought, before shaking his head in approval. "She didn’t betray my expectations then." He said, finally taking a sigh of relieve seeing that Remira had stood was not someone that would hide things from her comrades.

But this still didn’t give her a green chit.

"She is to stay here I presume?" Carrion asked a simple question and Clifford nodded in agreement. "That being is someone my master had hunted for years, and from what my master told me, that thing never does anything good for others. So either he is using her to manipulate us as a whole."

"Or she is with him..."

"The chances of the latter are low though."

"Your words Carrion, the wraith has been protecting her all this time, a bizarre action he hadn’t done before. I believe you understand what this means."

"She is a good seed, much higher potential than you."

"Its why she is dangerous if she falls and we can’t afford that, not again." Clifford was adamant on his decision and the old Knight could speak nothing to change his mind. But this was to be expected as he knew just how personal this whole case was for Vance Clifford.

Vance was not someone that was chosen naturally, he had forced his way into this case after learning who the foe is and came here for one purpose only.

That was to take revenge against the wraith that ruined the life of his master, forcing him to retire while sullying the name of Radiant church a few decades ago.

It was why this was a kind of redemption for him and as a proxy, his master. If he succeeds, he would take revenge for his master and path up the failure of his master.

"Gather the men, we will leave for the warehouse in two hours... also include that numbered blue eye. He has the strength to survive this ordeal."

Whether it was a trap or not, none of that mattered. With absolute strength, nothing would stay in their way. Not to mention, this time, there is no need to hide their hands anymore.

So after convening with Haseem, the weapons of the Knights showed a distinct upgrades, their saggy clothes have turned into heavy armor, while on their back there were two unique weapons.

The great sword that weighed around thirty kilograms in weight and capable of slicing a horse in half with a casual swing, while on their wait were multiple vials of potions protected by a leather belt.

Even Haseem, who was still recovering from his injury, took out a single sniper with him, which didn’t seem to suit the Knights, but the times have changed as well and so did the Knights.

And they did not try hard fools who depended on the glory of their past.

"Sir, everyone is ready."

Vance Cifford looked around, seeing his men up and ready for combat. The five surviving members as well as a new one that was added just now from the Numbers. All exuding a radiant fire from their bodies while their eyes look straight at their captain with a single thought in their mind.

"Burn!"

"Burn Burn Burn!!"
