The God of Jesters -
Chapter 89 - 2.25.1 Meeting
Chapter 89: 2.25.1 Meeting
A curse unlike any other, a curse that is fielded by negative emotions and remains in one’s heart as long as one can’t love oneself. It’s a curse that grows on self-doubt and isolates you by killing everyone around you.
All of it is done to make the victim beg for death, but after that death, there is only more misery, for there is no end to this curse.
I didn’t know how many victims of this curse exist in this world, their memories have been removed from the world, their souls isolated from the cycle of reincarnation and their will had turned into a hopeless husk that desires an end to such an isolation.
But that would never come to them, there would be no one to help them ever. Their fate was set the moment they died with the curse on their body.
And Maisel was going to face the same fate.
Even the flames he was so proud of, capable of burning the curse seemed incapable of stopping it. The guilt he had carried over the years fueled the curse to no end, as long as his mind was alive, the curse would never stop and even in death, the curse would not leave him.
Hence, when he read the note that was on Soros’ now cold body, he understood what he had to do.
Ignoring the paper that burned on its own, turning to ashes, Maisel started to walk before finding the place where the jeeps of some soldiers appeared not long ago.
A total of 12 dead bodies, all of them at a distance of 64 meters from his original position when they had shot themselves. Giving Maisel an idea of the range of the curse.
Of course, this range might exceed if he speaks to someone, meaning his voice holds the power to kill someone. But was there a limit to it?
Wouldn’t he become the greatest weapon with this power?
No, Maisel was not such a fool to think in that way. A plague god he was not, he can feel the dark emotions that bubbled up in his heart since the death of Soros and how lonely he started to feel.
All he needs to do is understand what the curse is, he might be able to find a way to save himself or others from it. But that is hard to do, only the Blue Lotus had an answer and for some reason, they wished to use him, instead of killing him.
’Why did I send him here?’ But in between his thoughts, the faces of the dead, his child, as well as the many people he killed, would come in front of his eyes. Which even included the face of the unfortunate Ikuras Yehtel, who died at his hands and what soon followed after.
If he had thought and used his brain, then the tragedy that soon followed might not have happened.
"Control your thoughts! Strengthen the fire... I need to move before the people start to wake up." Maisel said, pushing away his dark thoughts while he left the scene while leaving some breadcrumbs on his own way.
He was not sure if he could directly message others about him, but leaving purposeful clues might not attract the power of a curse.
Or so he hoped, for now, Maisel can only hide in the only place that would accept him. The very place is currently crawling with his men who might turn into victims of his curse.
But there was no other option, living on the surface would only bring misery to those that might accidentally step closer to him. He didn’t even know what caused the curse to act and why such a curse got into the hands of Blue Lotus.
All he could do currently was prevent any further tragedies. So keeping his mind calm with a curse his fires can’t extinguish, the only thing he can do is hide in the sewers, somewhere deep and away from the public, while moving toward the location which was still in his memory, which also just happened to be in the sewers.

Remira got up from her bed before she took a look to the side./
"What is happening?" Looking at her left hand, which was still intact, she lifted it up and start to confirm if what she was seeing was an illusion or reality.
Before walking in front of the mirror and then finding that all the scars and injuries on her face were also healed. "A powerful healer?" She wondered, before shaking her head.
Something in her heart told her that things were not as simple as she thought. No, the palpitation in her heart told her that nothing around her was as simple as it appeared. So picking up the sword that was set to the side, she got up and opened the door, ready to get some answers.
"And answers you will get Remira."
With the face of Farhad, I waited for her in the place that was my domain, my hell where I lost my old friend.
"You... It’s you!!" She said, pointing at me the same way many before her have done. But what can I do, but smile at her words? "Of course it’s me, do you expect it to be someone else?"
She was not fooled by my appearance, no she was not fooled by my word at all, she just blasted off the ground as the fire burned all over her body, all in an attempt to cut me down. But that was all she could do.
This was not the mind of her friend, no, this was the world of dreams, where I was the king.
So I accepted Remira’s attack without flinching an eye and easily ignored the damage done to my body, which was slowly stitched back together in a gruesome way, much to Remira’s disappointment.
But that was enough for her to stop, she understood her circumstance and the fact that nothing can touch me in this place. Neither her blades nor the flames of the bastard that had hunted me down for years and failed.
Of course, that bastard is someone I can never match. But it still is satisfying when playing with his dogs.
"This is a mind palace... Why and how did you bring me here?’ A knight’s mind is different from common people, all of it under the protection of the blood they carry and the totem or god they worship.
But all kinds of blood have their own weakness and strength. And Remira’s totem was someone on the same level as a god. So her question was not that odd.
And hence I understood her confusion.
But I just smiled at her. "The blood of that totem is too busy fighting with the corruption of poison in your blood brought by another totem. Of course, the defenses of your mind would weaken during that time."
With my words, Remira seemed to recall what happened and the scene she had witnessed before losing consciousness. "That man is dead... you, I remember you appearing there."
But I just shook my hands, there was no time for that. Her totem was far stronger than the Noble Nocturnal’s, it won’t be long before her blood burns away my influence over her.
Meaning this was the only time to push her.
But instead of me saying anything, she directly continued with her questions. "He said that you are the reason why he didn’t kill me before... Why?"
She asked an obvious question, to which I can only remain silent. I can’t ruin the joke so early. So I remained silent over her question, before asking her a question of my own.
"Do you know why I brought you over here?"
"Answer me." She said, aiming her sword at me, as her eyes lit up in anger. Which was scary if I was alive and understood what pain was. But that was already years ago, As for how many decades, I can’t even recall. All I know is that pain used to be something to be enjoyed.
Because through pain one knew that they were alive.
"There is no need for me to answer you...I brought you here to help you, they broke the contract and dared to harm you, so I am just returning them the favor through you."
At those words, Remira fell silent. She didn’t know why this bizarre puppeteer was saving her all this time. But she knew that what he might say after this was very important to her as well as to the future. But it didn’t mean she dropped her guard down.
She was not such a fool to believe the very man that was the center of so many tragedies would actively save her for no reason.
And from what she understood, the next thing this man or being is going to say might be the reason he was doing all of this.
"Speak, what is it you want?"
"Nothing, all I want to give you is the place where they will appear in two days. And if you succeed in destroying their ritual, I will give you the reason why I did that for you."
Remira turned silent for a while, the search for Blue Lotus had been tough and grueling and now she was even close to death. There was a high chance if things kept going the way they are, the efforts of Radiant Knights would go to waste.
Hence, she asked. "And if we couldn’t?"
"This whole city will fall into deep sleep... a sleep you are familiar with, don’t you?"
