Chapter 81: 2.23.1 Time to die.

Pansar’s body was held up by Kairut’s mandible, and it would seem that he was dead. But soon his body suddenly turned thin and melted into a smudge of rotten blood on the ground. A skill that Remira was familiar with.

But she was still surprised over how she had been fooled again, this was the same body that was with the boy since the start and hence she had treated it as real. But now, this doesn’t seem to be the case.

As for Kairut, there was no hint of surprise on his face. He had known that this was a clone from the start, hence the reason why he was so uncaring about his future with Blue Lotus.

"You..." Remira said, looking at the sudden change of events before focusing on Kairut, who just turned towards her and smiled in return. "Go capture that boy, the real body will come out on its own to protect him."

His words made Remira twist her head to the side, finding that the boy had disappeared along with the clone that was on his side. Which frustrated her.

In truth, she wanted to fight this insect-like bastard, who was obviously Kairut, as the young man’s face matched the beggar bastard form of Kairut IN Vaisel’s Potion shop. But she still chose to give priority to Pansar at the moment.

Now, she is sure that the boy she had been looking for had close relations with Blue Lotus. And the man that brutally killed the other knights in the sewer was protecting or leading such a boy.

It would be a lie to say Remira didn’t treat it as personal vendetta. So ignoring Kairut who slowly recovered his previous appearance, she rushed to the side, following her nose as now, she has caught the scent of the boy.

While the old Knight, after giving one look toward Kairut, also did the same.

For one, Kairut was too strong, he had fought him before and that was when Kairut was old and frail and if not for the overlapping succession of strength that brought the whole teams individual power to Master level, it would be impossible to recreate the same situation. Not to mention, there were only two of the and from Remira’s words, the other enemy held way more priority.

So they rushed, ignoring the fearful guards who chose to stay silent on the sides and the pedestrians that gave way to the two people who were holding weapons in their hands. Remira hunted her escaped targets like a dog while a ferocious expression covered her face.

And it didn’t take long for her to see the boy being held in the killer’s hand, while he rushed away at a fast rate.

"Remira, that man is too strong. The only chance we have against him is to attack his only weakness." The old Knight suggested to Remira something she didn’t want to do. But knowing that this might be the only chance, she nodded.

As for what the old man meant?

It was simple.

When Remira got closer to Pansar. She threw her knife with all the strength in her right arm, flunging it directly toward the head of the young boy. And like the Old knight expected, Pansar took the blow of the knife, which stabbed him in the abdomen.

Which broke the clone into a spray of rotten blood, while the body of the boy was flung into air and then caught by another figure of Pansar that appeared out of the wall.

Following which, two more clones materialized from the walls next to the Old Knight and Remira, directly charging for a sneak attack.

But as if the two expected it, the old knight moved closer to Remira and faced the brunt of the two clones, while Remira herself, ignoring the state of old Knight rushed towards the third clone that was just picking up pace again, towards an exit she didn’t know about.

"Remira... you are one annoying woman." Pansar was annoyed. This whole series of events were getting chaotic by the minute. The only thing he can be gad for is that Kairut didn’t join in on the rat race and helped Remira.

Because if he did, Pansar would already be either dead or under Remira’s foot.

As for his plan, Pansar looked toward the boy who remained emotionless and unaffected by the whole series of events. His eyes were hollow as they had always been, a boy without any will to live anymore and hence being the only person that survived the accursed ritual that had been going on in this city for years on end.

Which made this boy very important to the plan. He was a rare commodity that can only be created out of chance.

It was then that Pansar made up his mind.

His clones rushed ahead and dealt with the guards at the gate, while he kept attacking Remira that was chasing him. All in an attempt to hold her back and buy himself some time.

And it was five seconds later that he moved past the entrance to the surface where two of his clones were waiting for him. And when he used the gate to escape to the surface. He heard the sounds of fighting from below, showing that his clones were fighting Remira and probably that old man, as he had lost his connection with his previous two clones.

"Soros, do you know what your job is?"

This was a small bar that had been closed due to curfew, making it empty at the moment.

"Unload the curse on the Marshall."

"Good. Listen clearly, the marshall is currently at the Mayor’s Office, go to any soldier outside and claim that you know where Kairut is. This will earn you a meeting with him."

"Refuse to answer until you reach the Mayor’s office and if they still prevent a meeting, kill those around you, kill until the marshall is out to stop you. And that will be your chance." With that done, he sent Soros out on his own, hoping that he would reach the Mayor’s office soon on his own.

While he made up his mind about something else.

’Remira would be problematic.’

He didn’t know why the Jester did it, or why he modified the contract for Remira. But what he knew was that Remira was an annoying woman. And if not dealt early, she might pose danger to their plans.

However, Jester’s contract also made it harder for them to harm her. But it didn’t mean there was no way. Someone of equal level had to be sacrificed on both sides to tilt the balance again. It was the reason when Pansar had originally escaped the blast radius in the sewers, he was still unscathed.

But he chose to cut his own palm after he noticed that Remira lost it while he went to check up on her.

This was his way to balance the scale of the contract and the time limit to balance these scales were very little. So it was either he went back and killed countless of his own lower level companions or just cut his own hand in response.

Meaning, if he cuts Remira’s throat here, and followed up by slitting his own throat, the power of contract won’t take effect.

"Guess, I can try it next time." Being directly below Cadre, he had read the texts of reincarnation before, the hex for ink permanence was stamped on his back and there was a slight chance he would be able to recover some of his memories in the next life.

And after meeting Adam, the little suspicion he had for the mark also disappeared. Hence the reason why he turned very calm, the moment he made up his mind.

He was a mere master level figure, a fallen blood knight.

"Just how many clones?" Remira said, as she crawled out of the hole herself, followed by the old man. Who seemed tired on the surface, but Pansar won’t look down on someone for just that.

While for Remira, she was surprised to find just how many clones her enemy can create and each of these clones also possessing the strength of an adept knight. And if not for the overbearing strength of a Radiant knight, he would be a very hard enemy to face.

But, at the end of the day, it was still a clone. So Remira rushed toward him, intending to fell him down in a single slash of her knife, before tracking the boy once again.

It was then that Pansar smiled and rushed towards her as well. And when their blades collide with each other, Remira overpowers him easily, like she had done multiple times before.

But then felt a prick on her thigh, then she heard a clang, as a thin body was thrown to the side as the Old knight came to the rescue.

His hands shaking with collision while his sword was chipped. "This one is real." The old Knight said, while Remira eliminated the clone of Pansar, before turning toward what the Old Knight claimed to be the real body.

A body that looked different from that of the clones she had seen, which looked healthy and normal adults. While the true body in front of her looked like a feeble skeleton, with barely any flesh on his body.

His eyes burned red, while there were various cuts on his arms, barely bandaged with white cloth with a strong smell of medicine wafting from his body.

Then Remira turned to the side, and saw the splotch of the rotten blood left by the dead clone and then it suddenly made sense.
