Chapter 77: 2.21.3 Everyone ready for night market.

"Smoothly?... the army is soon going to enter the sewers and if the news from the morning has anything to go by, they might already be in the sewers, destroying years of work." Pansar sighed, recalling the amount of effort it had taken the group to chisel away at the sewers for years on end and how many generations it took to reach such a point. But all of it was rendered useless. "Not to mention, our movement will stagnate. Which is not good for my work.’

Pansar was stuck here, unable to go out and do his usual work. But in truth, there was no need for him to recruit or manage new members anymore, they have fulfilled their purpose and meeting with them at this moment would only cause problems on both sides. So Pansar chose to remain in one of the safe houses, the very same one where Dantalian, Vanessa’s direct disciple was in control.

Of course, there was another reason why Pansar was annoyed, to which Dantalian said. "Don’t be so grouchy. If you want, I can help you bring that tool closer to Maisel, and even buy you time."

"I don’t need your help, if you get harmed, Vanessa would probably roast me alive." Pansar denied the help. Before continuing "And considering that clown might cause problems when he learns of what happened to that girl. I should push the plans a bit forward... so I will go."

"I am free if you need me."

"Just keep watch over that old Mystic."

Pansar walked deeper into the lodge, before coming across a room and knocking on the door. "It’s time." He called out.

And it didn’t take long before the door was partially opened and its young occupant slowly gawked out of the door, checking on who his visitor was.

"Soros, your target, its time." With those words, the young boy named Soros Bloodheart’s eyes widened for a while, before returning to their muteness. As if belonging to the dead.

Hearing that it’s time for him to hunt his target, the powerful aura of curse around his body started to bubble up, pushing Pansar back a few steps. Before Soros was able to calm himself down.

But this small outburst still annoyed Pansar a bit. "Soros, if you did it outside, there would be people after us before we even reach our target... so be in control, remember what your previous master taught you." From master, he meant Adam. the very man under the army custody whose current status was a mystery. But from what the Blue Lotus cult knew, nothing will happen to Adam as long as he hid his identity.

"Yes Master... I will... keep it in mind." Soros said, with his head down in fear and apprehension, before turning mute once again. An odd habit to those that might not know, but Pansar knew what a foot was.

There was a reason why someone as young as Soros was able to handle such a powerful curse. Side Effect of which was the mood swings, which would be suppressed by the hex imprinted on Soros’s back.

As for Pansar, seeing that he had Soros’ attention, took out a small signet ring and handed it to Soros. "Put this on..." Pansar was thorough in his work and knowing the volatile case that Soros had become the more days went by, he had requested a curse sealing artifact from Vanessa, whose sole purpose of dampening the effect of the curse.

Ofcourse, with everything curse related, the ring uses the user’s lifeforce in exchange of suppressing the curse. Even then with the level of curse power that Soros holds, the ring would only work for another two hours. The reason being the cannibalistic nature of curses would cause the greater curse power in Soros’ to eat away at the ring.

But two hours were enough. As long as this mission succeeds, they would have Maisel into their control.

As for the loss of the lifeforce of Soros?

Pansar didn’t care much about it, because for one, he believed in reincarnation, and even a doomed soul like Soros would be returned to the world of living one day. While the other reason?

Soros was a dead man walking the moment such a strong curse was forced into his body and if not for the dream world of that great god, he would have already turned into a monster by the corruption of the curse.

Which was why Pansar didn’t feel that bad for Soros, no, he never felt bad for anyone he ever killed. So why would he care about someone whose blood was not on his hand.

A child that was so far gone from reality, that he was nothing more than a tool now. Whose sole purpose was to deal with Maisel.

""Let’s go." Seeing that Soros had put the ring on, Pansar led him to the end of the room where the teleportation circle was hidden. As for the exit?

Of course there can only be one place: The Dorian District underground market.

"At least tell me your name..." Remira called out, looking at the staunch old man that walked ahead of her in the streets of Durum. A man that tagged along with her after the Captain of the Knights agreed to Remira’s request, stating that there was a lack of resources at his hand.

So the weird old man tagged along with her. Of course from the looks of it, it would seem it was the other way around, with Remira following behind the old man.

As for why she was so adamant on asking the name?

It was simple, she just didn’t wish to feel another one of her comrades die, while not even knowing their name. A fact that she couldn’t voice out, in fear that her words might come true.

So she kept insisting on the name while the old man kept shushing her whenever he got the chance, while looking around the road to check for any patrols.

"If you don’t want to tell me your name, at least let me lead... My nose is faster than your sight."

At those words, the old man who looked too bulky for his age, turned to her and fell in some thoughts. "Claims don’t work... prove it to me." The old Knight might be stubborn, but it didn’t make him irrational.

He only took this job just to look after Remira as his captain has asked and the very reason he was chosen instead of the younger Knights was because of his long lived experience when handling things.

Because as it stands in a job where your life is constantly in danger, it’s not the stronger one that life long, it’s the smarter ones. And the old knight’s age was proof enough of how experienced he was when dealing with such a situation.

It was why he never held back or acted out of arrogance; if Remira could do a better job of leading, he would gladly let her lead.

But all of it depends on whether Remira can prove her words.

Which didn’t take long before the old Knight confirmed Remira’s claims and then agreed to let her be the leader.

Which decreased the tie for the two to reach the Streets of Dorian district which was as deserted as the rest of Durum. But Remira with her strong senses was able to smell them, but as for finding the entrance?

She was not so good at it.

"I will see to it from this point... The entrances keep changing, you need to know the pattern for the active entrances."

With those words, the old man led this time. His eyes darted around for a bit, before turning to the side of the road with a street light that flickers from time to time.

Which was the very sign he was looking for.

Then after seeing that the streets were empty, he moved to the other side of the road and right into the alley that was next to the street light.

"Flicker of four and then three. That makes it twelve steps. " He spoke slowly, audible enough for Remira to hear.

It was his way of teaching Remira. Letting her know the tricks that those living in the underbelly of the society use. Before reaching the point as it was mentioned, and then looking toward a giant trash pile.

"This?" Remira asked, to which the old man just replied. "This is a normal entrance, the lowest kind." With those words, the old man slowly walked over the trash and then turned to Remira. "Your nose is strong, hold your breath for at least three minutes." He suggested Remira before trying to find the entrance to the underground.

Which he found thirty seconds later after diving into the trash and opening the hatch, below which was even more trash. "..."

"I guess, there is no escape from it." Showing a bit of pity to Remira, he gestured her to follow him, while he disappeared into the hatch.

And at this very moment, a few small rats that were going about their day, eating trash, suddenly stopped what they were doing and followed after Remira.

Which went unregistered by Remira and to most people in the city.

Beside two people that is.

"He is awake?"X2

The old Vanessa that was drinking the tea in her room commented with a sigh. While Adam, whose mood was turning sour as days went by suddenly smiled.

As one of those very rats reached his cell, where he was kept for his safety. A rat that he hated before, but now was his only chance to escape this bars.
