Chapter 72: 2.20.1 The wraith
An Exorcist is a curse user as well, though unlike common curse users who use their body as the vessel for curses and focus on a single curse and enhancing its ability. The Exorcist instead seals the curses in their tools or talisman, molding them and changing them to their needs.
Which in turn makes them very weak in direct firepower, but when it comes to sealing and exorcizing evil, they are at the forefront. Making it so that Remira didn’t know if she would stand a chance against an Exorcist.
So running away with a limp and broken body, her face bleeding and she could barely hear from her right ear, but staying there was close to a suicide. The only path to survival was escape, which was proven by the fact that she still got shot even after the Exorcist had ordered to stop the shooting.
’I need to find Maisel.’ She should, wondering where everyone from Maisel’s team were. They should have become aware of her existence and came to her rescue at earliest, but they didn’t cause her to turn into a bleeding dog.
"Look... isn’t she bleeding?"
There were countless people that were pointing toward her on the road, some even seemed to approach her to help her. But Remira just kept running away, this was no time to rest or show any weakness.
But she didn’t mind giving these people a light look, making her understand one thing. ’The leader’s might be corrupted, but the citizens still remain kind.’ A thought that drove her to fulfill her mission even more.
Though, there was one problem, with the trail of blood as well as eyewitnesses that were formed in her wake, it would be easy to track her.
So Remira turned to the next best thing, rushing to an alleyway, filled with trash and dirty. She searched for a sewer entrance.
The very place where she escaped from might just be the only place she can feel safe, which was ironic to say the least.
Though, before she can do as such. A man walked in the alleyway as well.
Covered in a dark coat with his head hunched a bit down, he stopped a few steps away from Remira who still hadn’t recovered the hearing of her right ear and shouted. "Sir Remira!" His voice was loud enough for Remira to turn and look at him, while she backed off with fire in her eyes.
The seal that the Exorcist imparted in her body was already burned through her flames in her blood. What remained was the injuries that she sustained during the blast as well as the fall from before.
Not to mention her mouth, broken and unable to even open properly due to the bullet that ruptured her cheek muscles of her right cheek, as well as her ear. Though, it didn’t mean it was dangerous.
The physique of a Knight and their metabolism made it so that their healing factor was far advanced than the common humans. If she got the time, her wounds might heal, leaving only scars.
But that is, if she got the time to heal.
"Staph!!" Remira cried, as her eyes flared up with white fire while the place where the man stood suddenly lit up, causing him to back off, as it turns out, the stood close to the blood trail that Remira left before.
"Please Sir Remira, I don’t mean no harm..." Though backed up a bit, there was no fear in his voice or panic. He didn’t even bother to take out the weapon as his waist that Remira could clearly see.
He just lifted his arm and then lowered his sleeve, exposing his bare skin.
"You should be able to tell who I am." Remira was confused for a bit, before her eyes caught a blue outline on the skin that took the shape of an open eye.
It was the mark of the Blue eye, the group of common people that worked directly under the Purple eyes of the Radiant society and was responsible for information collection in the city.
A purple eye that died not so long ago.
"You worked for her?"
The mark can’t be faked. Those with the Radiant bloodline can see it, meaning the mark in front of her was the real one.
"Yes and I was sad to learn about her death. But Sir Remira, this is no time to talk. We have to take you out of here... the others are trying to hold the police for a while, but it won’t take long." The Blue eye walked out of the shadows, exposing his old gruff face.
He looked more like a beggar than a spy. But due to his position, he could sit on the roadside for the whole day, without anyone asking any questions.
As for Remira, if her body was still intact, she might have chosen to ignore the offer. With how much corruption she had experienced in the police force, there was no telling what would happen if she fell for the Blue eye’s words.
But that was, if her body was fine. WIth a weak body, she was an easy target and if this Blue eye wanted to cause her any harm, it would have been easy for her.
So she nodded, knowing her position, she had no strength to struggle anymore.
And in the queue of her nod, on the other side of the alley, an old horse drawn coach appeared at the end.
"If you please." The Blue eye pointed at the fire which acted as the barrier between Remira and him. And with a thought, the fire turned silent, leaving only faint traces of Remira’s blood in its place.
But the Blue eye ignored all of these details, his goal was saving Remira from here. So putting her hand over his shoulders, the old man carried Remira to the carriage. Which left the scene soon after.
And it didn’t take long before another man entered the alleyway, looking at the burned blood traces and the warmth, he understood that it hadn’t been long before she left.
Though the question remained, why would Remira activate her blood like this again? Did she meet someone?
Following those thought, he walked for a bit further and found blood trail end
"Or help I suppose." Looking like the sun had gone down, the man took out a small metal canister and opened its top, from which a white smoke started to leak out at an unprecedented rate.
Bringing down the temperature of the whole alleyway and suppressing all the noises around Levon. It was as if a new domain opened up in this alley, making this place a new world of its own.
And when the smoke was all released from the canister, a sinister face of an old woman slowly materialized from the smoke.
A misty visage, which can also be considered a wraith by some.
"Hunt the owner of this blood."
But the old wraith didn’t listen, it just twirled around the man with some amusement, which Levon was not so fond of.
With a flick of his finger, the ring on his finger lit up with golden runes, the same runes that appeared on the neck of the Wraith, burning its neck and causing the Wraith to release a shriek of pain.
A shriek that would have sent common people to fall into delirium easily. But with the runes that shone in her neck, the voice of the wraith never left the alley.
"Find the owner of this blood... and I might free you from this world." The wraith’s were mindless creatures with only belief and that was the hate for the living, they wished to live again so they drain the living of their vitality, those wraiths that absorb more turn stronger and more powerful, gaining a physical body of their own.
But it was not the only desire they held, if they were still a new wraith, their desire to return to the reincarnation cycle was stronger, they wished for the fog of death to claim their spirit. But for different reasons, they couldn’t find that relief anymore.
So Levon’s promise of the fate that never claimed her, finally made the wraith listen to his words.
"Don’t drink the vitality from that blood, or you might get purified." Levon stopped the Wraith that finally started to move while showing fear in his eyes.
"Just follow her. Nothing else."

"Her injuries are serious, give me some alcohol first." In the carriage a young woman said to the old man, who took the position of the nurse and handed things down to the young woman who was treating Remira.
As for Remira, she kept her mind awake during this whole process, curious over who these elusive Blue eyes were and how they found her.
So while the woman was sewing up Remira’s face. Remira asked as such.
"We kept an eye on you from the start, it was the Purple Eye’s order." Hearing such words, Remira went silent.
While the old man continued explaining how they found her in the alleyway.
It turns out, they kept their eyes on the hospital from the start and by paying a few nurses, learned the special shift that happened in the fifth floor, the very place Remira was kept.
And knowing the danger this might face, the group had planned to save Remira when she would be taken to her cell. But as it turns out, Remira was a step ahead of them. Ruining their plan and causing the current situation.
