Chapter 682: 10.07.3 Meeting.

With his feeble body unbecoming of the Alahrun bloodline, Ruhan endured the aftermath of the hit, along with his flesh puppets that lay there, barely keeping an intact body. The strings that sometimes glistened in the air were broken and weakened. Showing that Ruhan’s talent was not as good.

"It’s time," Ruhan spoke as his uncle held his thin nephew in his arms and rushed away from the scene. The direction they ran toward was the same one they had been going to since the start. But now, the state of both of their bodies was not that good. Ruhan had felt his life leaving the body when the impact had hit his body, cracking his organs and causing internal bleeding. If not for his ability to transfer damage among his puppets, he would have died.

As for why he protected his uncle instead of the other way around?

"Uncle, keep going." He spoke, as threads from the void formed of cold energy of Ruhan slowly entered his Uncle’s body, empowering and strengthening it from the inside, and dragging all the potential his Uncle had left.

Who, after feeling the boost calmly hastened his pace, dodging what could be dodged and crashing through that couldn’t.

Earlier they were confined in a tight space, not much could be done on his end, and if he were to injure his legs, then this escape would not be possible as well. Which became the reason why Ruhan sacrificed his body to save his uncle. All in order for his uncle to carry him to the quarry at the very end of this abyss, the place where the item they had been looking for remained.

"MY blood won’t be able to sustain for too long." Master Ooeti warned, feeling the Abyss slowly devouring his body bit by bit, and even the combined might of the cold threads in his body matched with his own strength couldn’t do much.

As for his nephew, he was just looking towards the distant fight, kilometers away from them, but each impact caused their bones to tremble in fear. It felt as if the world was ending, and these two were stuck in this situation without a way out.

"I will survive," Ruhan spoke with poise. He knew that he had come too far to abandon it all at a moment’s notice. It was either he survived this ordeal or he died. There was no other way for him.

But, who would have thought, not long after he had left with his uncle, a figure came into their view for they were going in the same direction.

A figure with an exposed brain and organs hanging on his back. A demon of hell? A mutant? What was it? Hatred and fear made Master Ooeti act front eh start, not daring to get close, but also not daring to earn its ire.

It’s every man for themselves, no... it’s every life for itself. There is no need to antagonize and earn an enemy in this journey.

Or so they thought, but the figure turned his head towards them and then hurled a stone directly at Master Ooeti’s knee. Striking it perfectly and causing him to stumble a bit before recovering his strength.

"Such finesse?" Being in front, he was smart and already antagonistic against them. ’Ho.’ but being behind it, they could not do much, any part of their energy is to be used to escape this ordeal. Do not fight randos. A rando that did appear familiar.

Although Ruhan’s memory was not that great when it came to uninteresting folks, his uncle Ooeti understood who it was from the visage alone. "It’s that Mercenary king Wajih." Spoke the uncle, his face turning ugly before his mind opened up and said. "It’s good that he is dead." That was the conclusion that they came to.

If it was really Wajih, the stone that hit them would have been a metal bullet, and it might have pierced his Knee at the very least. Which showed that the one ahead might no longer be alive.

But whether this was a piece of good news or not, one can’t say.

However, what they can do is destroy that exposed brain and the rest.

Of course, before they could do a thing, the body of Wajih started to grow branches, slowly encasing the exposed organs within it, leaving not much exposed. "A parasite demon." This was dangerous.

"Uncle, I will be going in deeper," Ruhan spoke, looking ahead. The attacks from behind had never stopped the only reason they survived till now was that the attention of those two titans was never on them. And as long as they earn a few distance, it would become easier to dodge the aftermath of their combat.

This did happen, and things got easier, if not for the arrival of new trouble.

But that was not all. Even before they could do a thing in response to this being, small critters started to appear on the edge.

Imps they were called, little demons that appeared panicked and running around. Generally born from the corrupted souls of children that had been fractured into pieces. These things were more of an annoyance than a danger.

And they showed this by hurling small stones and even poison pins on their bodies.

Which they did even while being covered under the impact of the attack of those titans. They didn’t mind dying as long as they could impede the advance of these two weird intruders.

"Wanna die?" Ruhan shouted, his body exploding into countless needles that traveled in the air striking the imps in the way. "Ruhan, don’t get agitated. They are weak, save some for later." his uncle shouted at him, forcing Ruhan who looked thinner and lankier, with his clothes slowly sliding from his body like rags.

He looked more like a tall hound than a human. This might scare many, but this is the true appearance of the Totem the Alahrun family worshipped. The Cannibalistic Wendigo, a monster of old legends was said to have devoured its own family due to hunger and earned the curse of undeath and hunger.

Curses that the beast turned into its own strength, reaching the level of Totem and becoming a protector deity of an ancient Clan.

A clan that now only comprises the Alahrun Family, for the rest were devoured among each other in order to gain better strength and potential.

That’s the curse, that’s why Ruhan hates and feels frustrated with his family so much.

For in his heart, he understands one thing.

’There will come a time for me.’ There were many sons before him, and the 2nd son of the family, but all of them are dead one way or another.

There are only four that remain permanent in the family, his two older brothers and two older sisters, the rest are food for the family, existing for the sole purpose of being sacrificed for the true members.

"Uncle... I will dig in deeper." And in his madness, Ruhan never thought much as his threads kept digging into his Uncle’s flesh, enhancing his strength, but also cutting away at his life faster.

No, there was not much left in his head besides reaching the goal and the wall that his father had always spoken about.

"I will get there." The demon’s strength increased, there were beasts of various forms and numbers, each carrying a hint of madness in their eyes as they rushed to the two fools that had dared venture in so deep.

Call it bad luck, but all these monsters only ever attacked after reaching that point were Ruhan and his uncle, Leaving the man called Wajih alone.

But they didn’t feel unfair, for, in their mind, the brain and organs they saw before were already a sign that Wajih had been claimed by a creature of the Abyss. So it’s no wonder they are not being attacked.

Which was false, you already knew what the reason was.

"Hah... I am close." The body below me was being claimed by that foolish child, treated as manure for its rebirth. For it to be born anew.

But that birth will be followed by weakness, and that is a birth in body alone, the injuries on the soul will remain.

And if we are to be left in such a state surrounding the abyss of Corruption.

We would fall.

I can’t allow that. I won’t allow it.

I will live.

I will see.

I will enjoy it.

There is so much left to witness in this world. And I am going to enjoy the hell out of it.

So run, this body, this soul, the one who lives deep inside the mind of Wajih. The boy who lost all hope. Run and fight off the influence. You are strong. You want to win. You will win.

You will be more.

So Run and fight for your body.

"I SAID FIGHT YOU FOOL!!"

*****

The shouts, they were enough.

My eyes opened and all I found was darkness. But more than darkness, what I felt at the moment was the cold grasp of death as things thinner than hair slowly wrapped around my body, my flesh, my verse cells.

And then, they started to drain. "NOOOO!" I shouted with all the strength I could muster.

"I won’t die like this."

"No you won’t... but we will die if you don’t fight off the other me." This Lakram was nothing more than a twisted part of me getting influenced by the dead god.

"You."
