Chapter 681: 10.07.2 Mutant bloodline.
The body blew, thrown around as the corruption of the abyss seeped into the boy of my perfect friend. His body connected to mine, my nerves stabbing into his spine, sending false information into his body and mind, so that I can maintain some control.
But there was a limit and friction. I can feel the mental chaos this friend of mine suffered from, his body was weak, close to dying, and filled with what I can say was regret and hatred for me. Even when his mind was not straight, a part of him knew his misery was caused by me. But, that is the price of coming to unexpected places.
’It’s better.’ I rushed to the scene while behind me a godly battle took place.
There was no creation of Divine Domains from either of these figures, through the grit of their body and the power of their energy, they broke the very sky itself, causing the ghost that always hid there to howl in pain, trying to attack the two monsters that were refusing to falter or show mercy.
The ground cracked, causing more of the Abyss to seep out, which was followed by anomalous growth of plants and creatures in the area becoming far greater, far more dangerous for someone of my motor skills.
But the Light-bearer, the one that shows the dead the path to reincarnation, remained unaffected. For even in this Abyss where the sun’s light never shined, the halo he carried itself was the source of the Sun, burning all those shadowy beings born of the Devil’s will.
The Light Bringer’s arrival was a timely one, his hatred for the Devil’s distracted him from hunting me, which in turn saved me from certain oblivion. Truly a sign that the world wishes for me to live, it wishes to see me flourish.
"NO... DON’T’ GO THERE!!" The child struggled, growing wild branches around Wajih’s body, tearing into his flesh with his roots and then forming faces under his skin.
What a cruel creature, it was seeding the body of Wajih to germinate itself back to full health. "Don’t do this." But that was suicide considering the current situation, we needed to reach our target before anything could happen, and we didn’t have time to stay and recover. But the children barely listen, and with it causing me constant harm in order to recover things that can’t be recovered, it was becoming frustrating.
’More...’ I dodged, tackled, and even urged the branches that poked out my skin to bind themselves around Wajih’s body, forming a small armor of sorts.
But it barely did a thing as the destructive aura from behind and the Abyss corruption kept cutting away at our remaining life. ’Bastards.’ I cursed. This luck was truly heavenly and horrendous. Things would have been so easy if there were no more of those images messing with the ecology of this wonderful place.
’Haha.’ Though, I couldn’t help but recall some things I read in the notes. Due to a certain Son of mine who walked the false path, I have had a curiosity about the place of Abyss, from where his Bloodline belonged. And to study that, I had come to this place countless times, though if I were to speak about the first, it had to be with my teacher.
’A great demon came to this place in order to escape, but before it could do so, it failed halfway through. Causing both the God and the Demon to fall. Their fight affected the cracks to the other realm so bad, that it’s impossible to close anymore.’
A devil represents a fear of humanity, which they use to cause a human’s fall and turn them into a demon. But it doesn’t mean that Demons are weaker than the Devil. Although the devil is always superior to the fallen Demons, when it comes to destructive powers, there are certain demons that exceed even Gods.
And for a Nature God to fall here, when this place was not as corrupted, on a material plane.
It would mean the Demon, whoever it used to be in life was horrendously powerful. Which when matched with the actions of the mages and that Devil. ’I am starting to understand more and more.’
Not far from us, in a distant place that was deemed a sanctuary. The Third Son of the Alahrun family watched the things unfold, from a sealed cage of his own.
"WHY WHY WHY!!!" He cursed, looking at his men who had fallen down beside few who could endure the onslaught of monsters miles away from them. But their body was breaking even while awake. And this jail that should have been their doom had only become their silver lining, enduring the impacts from further away and saving them from complete annihilation.
"Ruhan, they can’t harm us, they can’t harm me according to our contract. So I will be making an opportunity for you, to escape while you can." Master Ooeti spoke, his voice low and heavy, feeling the weight of the air around him turning greater the longer they stayed in this "heaven on hell" called sanctuary.
The magic circles here, were not here to harm them, but in a way, they were here to protect them from Abyss, which meant that it also stopped them from walking out, this is how the mages were able to subvert the contract. And considering only one person signed it, the rest were easy pickings.
Though it was hard to say if there was anyone left alive to pick anymore, for the immense pressure for a godly fight that the people here didn’t even understand had killed the majority of followers, and if not for the protective treasures and his own strength being in the realm of Grandmaster, Ruhan, the Third Son would have long lost his life.
The old master, who taught Ruhan from his youth, knew from experience alone that this fight was not one to struggle against, but one where you have to escape with your life on the line and hope you are lucky enough not to get caught in it.
When the Titans fight, the ants suffer—that was the case here. For the Third Son, this was the worst-case scenario ever.
He didn’t even know what happened and how it all transpired. He even regretted his greed, the moment that mage appeared, he should have known that things were not correct. A contract can easily be manipulated, more so in the hands of the mages.
’That was the one and only sign.’ Ruhan thought, completely forgetting the first signs were the demons at the entrance, he should have made his escape early on, but greed overtook his reasoning and a hope of a future that was greater than being bound in his family. This, this was his curse, so close to greatness, but yet so far from it.
WHY!! He couldn’t help but question why this was happening. Why him and no one else? The world seems to hate him in all directions, messing with all his plans no matter how much care he put into the planning.
"Fuck!!" His body flared, turning leaner and taller, as dark smog started to leak out of his body. "Ruhan, this is not the time to fight, I will open a path, and escape from there." Mutant bloodlines were hated in the family for more than just looks and the oddities they brought.
More so in a family whose bloodline already brought deformities when they ignited their blood, Ruhan was a tad bit different in that instead of becoming completely incorporeal like a ghost, his body just turned lankier, weaker, and pale, but like a ghost, he still kept releasing cold energy from his body.
But that was not the worst part. "Arise." He spoke, causing the cold to seep into the death before looking at his uncle... the man who was the brother of his real mother, also his master. "Uncle... let’s drop the formal tone. We both know survival is not possible for either of us unless we fight for our survival." The leaked cold energy showed a hint of red, a sign of abyss corruption. But his uncle, even knowing this also understood that escaping from this unscathed was a fool’s dream.
"Death comes to those who fear it the most," Ooeti spoke, his eyes turning a bit serious as he looked at their trap, it won’t be long before it explodes and this whole sanctuary gets annihilated along with everyone in it.
Though, things are different now.
Although Ruhan’s own bloodline was a bit twisted and it didn’t possess the same kind of abilities as his own Father’s. But it didn’t make him weak in the slightest sense.
The Bloodline’s name was Soul Puppet, besides gaining a ghostly form, it also gives manipulative powers like that of a puppeteer. Puppets that if they share one’s blood can endure damage from the real controller.
This was not the case for Ruhan completely, as his puppets can endure only a fracture of damage done to him. And considering his body was material, the damage he suffered was far greater. But in return for such weakness, Ruhan gained the ability to send such injuries to all. Even those that didn’t carry his blood.
This is why he came with such a giant entourage, this is why he didn’t mind their death as much, and how he had the audacity to stand up even when death was in front of him.
Call it foolishness or arrogance, although his family had looked down on and hated him for countless reasons, Ruhan never did the same. He never considered himself weaker than his family.
No, he was stronger in his belief.
This is how, the moment the sanctuary exploded, Ruhan did his best to cover for his uncle and endured the hit.
