Chapter 675: 10.06.2 Descent into abyss.
Ignorance of the youth aside, under the pope’s order, the people returned to the topic, though some did show some disappointment over this archbishop, who was one in name only. But what can they do, for one to be chosen by the god, it’s not a simple matter.
For his strength even as a Master had exceeded their rationale, reaching an extent that they had only seen among the grandmasters. And this man was still growing, becoming greater, sharper, and more resolute.
Though his brain, that is something one can’t hone in a training room. During this conversation gave the rest of the people an Idea. ’he won’t die.’ That was their thought.
For one to carry the bloodline of the Sun, their bodies itself was immortal, more so for the chosen who was capable of harnessing the strength of both the Branches of the Knights of Red Sun.
Though sending him alone would be dangerous. He can’t hunt that monster on his own. So a simpler target would be needed. An easier one that won’t pose a danger to him at all.
As they wandered over this issue, the room lit up for a brief second leaving the Bishops in a trance. The only ones immune to it were the Pope and the youngster named Farncois Jon Demeter, also known as Frank among his equals during his youth, but there existed no one that could call him by his nickname anymore.
And Frank for the first time heard a voice that caused his brain to hurt a bit. But he did hear it.
Intelligible words pertaining to a language so old that awaken a primal fear in his memory. He felt little, he felt even the words held the power to take his life. But Frank held on, for he had been made aware of what these things can be. ’A Revelation.’
Which came and went in a second or so, returning the mind of the Bishops who were just ignorant of what had transpired. They just acted like usual talking about topics on how to deal with the issue while adding what to do with this ignorant Chosen of theirs.
It was then that the pope turned to look at the young man, who in his stupor showed a knowing look. He understood what was going to happen.
"The supreme god had sent me a Revelation, another escapee had appeared." The Pope spoke, causing everyone to turn silent. "A high-ranked Angel will go there to hunt and generally the idea was to provide the body of one of our followers to act as his vessel. But I had a different suggestion."
With those words, the pope looked toward Frank. "Sir Francois, you are to be the vessel and experience the world through the eyes of one of the holiest angels Emberheart." No one knew the Angel’s true name, none had the right, all they knew was a title. A title that signified his nature.
Emberheart is the one who leads the souls through lightening up the path. It’s his blaze that lights up the archway of the afterlife.
He is also one of the strongest enforcers of the God of Red Sun, responsible for hunting down the runners, as none can escape his pathfinding abilities.
"Sir... but if I were to be a vessel, it would end my will." Frank had seen what happens to others who become vessels, their souls will be claimed to the afterlife, promising great riches in the next life and greater riches for those that remain in the family. All in return for a Godly being borrowing their body.
But there is no return, no revival even though the church of Red Sun dabbled with death, they still can’t break certain rules that make up this world.
Which is why Frank didn’t understand what this meant, why, and how.
"Archbishop Frank, it’s time you learn what is the true purpose of a Chosen... and don’t worry, you won’t die, you can return to your normal life once the possession is over."
With those words, the Bishops slowly started to leave the place, readying themselves for the mission that took priority over Malidi at that moment. But part of them were still focused on hunting and annihilating Malidi no matter what.
As for asking the Angel of Emberheart to deal with Malidi? That was not possible. Although Emberheart can track him down and even end him, the reasons and desires of Mortals have little to do with angels like Emberheart. They come here with one purpose in mind and won’t move too far away from it.
Moreover, it’s also a question of Emberheart, while being constrained by the laws of the material plane can even harm Malidi in any real sense. His body was truly immortal, only the soul could be harmed, that is if one could find it, because from what they had learned of the matter, Malidi’s true body never entered the realm of Spirits, but someplace else. Some places are equally dangerous but far more confusing.
A place that they can’t speak of in the holy grounds.
"Not much to think about, ignore him for now, He is harmless as long as nothing is done to him." They speak, but recalling the warnings of the Prophet that they so detested, the Bishops couldn’t help but wonder, if this was the right call.
Though limited by resources and countless rules imposed on them by an alliance of different powers, they could do nothing to that man who was growing in strength every second. God knows when he will strike, and how much damage he will cause once he does.

I went into the abyss, a short climb like usual, with my eyesight weak and even the realm of nightmares that exists all around started to break apart in this space, I knew that I ave come to the right place.
"There are no dreams in hell.’ So there was no existence of nightmares as well, turning this place where I was truly blind. But this is for the good.
As for the guy beside me, his way of covering his senses was far different than I expected.
Instead of using some eye-type ability through the metal he had collected, he summoned a dust of iron and let it float around him at a particular radius, and then using the vibrations caused when those things collide with anything, a particular scene must have formed up in his head.
Hah, so much to do on our end just to mimic the fraction of a Legend power. I was even blind compared to my friend.
The Path ahead was easy to trek, for there was no life around us, nor were there any obstacles, the abyss had made sure of that.
"We are here," I say, walking to the edge and standing at the very edge that overlooked the abyss. "Be prepared for it." There were some ropes and nails stuck to the side, probably foolish adventurers who didn’t understand the gravity of the situation and the danger this place possessed. Even bringing these tools showed that their strength had limits, as people at the grandmaster rank could easily jump down into the abyss. Though they can’t fly out of it, they need to climb this wall like regular human beings, which is not that hard if one thinks about it.
"Take me," I ordered the man. Hiding the shaking of my legs. The burn of those godly bastards had brought me to my knees, it won’t be long before my end. And I believe that Wajih must have noticed this as well. "Don’t think too hard, you can’t earn without taking a few risks, and I am your risk this time. I promise to stand by my words and help you." I say this again, which finally made Wajih make his move.
Although I was ignorant of his background and the reasons for appearing here, one thing was certain, he was not as much of a coward as he showed to me.
It was with such reasons, that Wajih held me by his hand. A me that appeared as a young boy, and then jumped down into the abyss.
What I was off at that time was the ropes that were dropped into the abyss, they were freshly knotted.
And what hung on one of those ropes was a bomb that exploded the moment it felt the movement of our bodies.
*BOOM.
With which, I was flung over along with Wajih who protected his body with an iron shield.
But that was not the worst part. "There are enemies above." A shout came from below, but no attack came.
’Haha... so they are here.’ Once inside, you never look up even if you are blind. That’s the core rule to live by once you enter the abyss.
As for who these friends were. "Wajih, I said you won’t regret it, didn’t I?" I spoke while pointing below. "The third son that you wanted to hunt, he is down below."
