The God of Jesters
Chapter 647 - 10.1.01 Amir’s dilemma.

Chapter 647: 10.1.01 Amir’s dilemma.

Amir sat atop a hill, watching the sunset all alone.

Or so he wished, but there were always certain existences keeping an eye on him. A certain woman who he hated, but can’t take out of his mind.

And there she was, not too far from him, helping her brothers cook some simple dinner. It won’t be long before he is called for dinner as well. ’What has become of my life?’

These were his enemies, the ones who were the antithesis of his bloodline. Their father, or master, was a monstrous spirit who had shown Amir how little he was in this wide world while ruining the life of his cousin and killing a few not too long ago.

While he was here, enjoying a peaceful life, waiting for something to happen. Which never did, for he felt the suppression of the mark on his body that shielded him from the tracking techniques. ’I could have changed so much... done so much.’

The serpent, ruined his life somewhat. And now that he thinks about it, this whole plan was foolish on his end. He was too arrogant to think he could do a thing in front of an opponent like that. But hindsight like that will do him no good. The future is ruined on his end. Even going back there will be suspicions concerning his survival, what had the enemies done to him.

Was Amir the same guy as always?

This was more so when the enemy was infamous for manipulating the mind and memories of its victims. Amir recently learned had been enslaved by a greater entity whose name or title was kept hidden from him, probably for his own protection. But this meant that Jester at the moment was out of the scene. Leaving him pretty much free of any mental influence.

More so when the only defenses he had against such influence were gone from his hand.

"Dinner is ready, come and eat." She spoke that motherly woman that did remind Amir of his own mother... not the one that birthed him, but the one that nurtured him. Being mortal, she was already over seventy by now, and she wouldn’t be alive for long even with the powerful drugs and medicines that are available in this world.

The reason was also something he was well aware of, with all the life-extending medicines and drugs that were in his reach, he couldn’t use any of them for his false parents, for their deaths would mark his freedom from his mortal roots. It will be the moment Amir will truly become a Royal in heart and body, both.

Such was the fate of theirs. ’I need to look at that at least once.’ But with how things were going, that future might be hard to come.

"Still crying about your missing royal undies?" The rascal voice of Scart came, who was also returning from his little hunting trip, bringing what appeared to be some small berries and rock salt in his basket. "Sad to say, they are mine now..." He spoke, throwing a red berry to Amir, who caught it without an issue. "Have this in return."

"This is... poisonous."

"Oh... Just how much do you know man?" Looking at the other red berries in the basket, Scart didn’t know what to do, before stuffing them all in his mouth. "Now no one will accidentally eat it." With those words, he walked toward the small makeshift hut where Amir had been living with this bunch of crazy siblings for a while.

’Hah,’ And it was all so tiresome. None of them were evil besides Gazelle, even Owl, the leader of this small ragtag group seemed to have a few screws loose, paranoid and lazy. Such a bizarre combination of personality traits left Amir tired half the time.

But what can be said, this is his life now, walking toward the hut, he met with the other siblings again, there was Minat the crybaby who seemed to be an eternal victim, currently complaining to Owl about his stolen toy again. And the thief was as always Scart.

Then there was the little Mini, ever so kind and innocent, but she alone had turned this island into an island fortress, not one leave moves without her knowing. Which did seem to affect her by making her mute all the time. Probably because her mind is occupied scanning the whole island so much so that she stumbles and even falls on a regular basis due to her limited attention.

As for Gazelle, she appears normal, acting as the caretaker of this bunch of siblings who seem too stupid to survive on their own. It’s even a miracle how these bastards have survived to this point.

But the answer to that was obvious, there was always a jester overlooking them and their health and with him gone, their weaknesses were for all to see.

Or was it something expertly planned by Owl, all in order to mislead Amir so that he would drop his guard down?

"How is it?" Today’s meal was the regular, some fish cooked with salt and coconut oil. In lucky days when the berries are somewhat ripe, the flavors of the fish would be somewhat enhanced. But that was rare.

"I am getting used to it?" Amir spoke, not complimenting the food, but not disparaging it either. He was not the kind to lie when it came to such things. However it did seem to irk Scart, whose face was currently somewhat blue due to the poisonous berries he consumed before. "You bastard... what kind of man can’t even compliment a girl’s cooking.’

It was another day of drama with nothing productive happening. A mediocre day that was alien to Amir till now.

His hand itched to do something, but on this barren small island, there was little he could do due to no tools or civilization in sight.

As for escaping? That was impossible, Mini was always there, keeping an eye on him, not to mention the amount of restrictions these Exorcist siblings had put inside his body, suppressing his blood and strength to an extreme level till he became somewhat akin to a mortal.

A jail just for him.

"Till when will we stay here... "

"Till the seas calm down... the battle is still going on. Mini, how many ships were destroyed today?"

"Two ships and a single Town... the serpent has grown his second pair of wings." At the mention of the serpent, the face of Amir twisted to the extreme once again.

That monster was released earlier than expected, and then like before, went on a rampage, its target Cynark, his very own country. But due to the timely arrival of certain Totems and even a Daemon, the situation was stabilized and the serpent was killed.

Though only for a little, the serpent started to revive even when its entire body was desecrated beyond belief.

Once it rose the second time, it was stronger than before, but still ended up dying and being suppressed under the might of Totems. But was it really so easy to deal with this serpent named Dragon?

Obviously not, true to its title of being Immortal. The serpent kept reviving and draining the strength of its enemies one by one. Caused the line to be pushed back one day at a time with casualties in the hundreds every day

As for the towns in the way, the good thing was, due to the expected danger, most were already evacuated early on, making it so that most things that were destroyed were just empty homes and industries.

"Freeze him again, if killing is not an option." How was he dealt with in the past Well Amir didn’t know. What he did know was the price that was paid to suppress him was huge enough to make the current leadership still prattle around looking for alternatives. So who knows how long will it be before the trouble is finally dealt with.

"Well, it’s not like the problem is that hard, through eternity the best way to deal with immortals is to find their type of immortality and deal with it. Such is the case for lower-level immortal beings like this, obviously not a Totem, so should not be eternal, but what caused it to gain eternity aspect is something party or item. It might even be a place or a certain dead god." Owl spoke, making up conjectures on his own, which was somewhat on point. "If your army can find the answer to this, then Heroth’s end will be permanent."

"Don’t talk so much about a serious topic during dinner, it’s getting cold," Gazelle spoke from the side, not appreciating the little discussion her brothers and Amir were having.

Though the eyes of Gazelle spoke a different story, the way she looked at Owl for that split second, as if to convey a specific message or a warning. ’These siblings, taking me for a fool.’

He knew that Owl might have spoken a bit too more than was needed, which is why Gazelle came to stop him. ’The only sane one among the insane....’ This is why the little love that Amir had for her in his heart was always kept to the side. With all that lovely facade that made him fall in love with her, there was something dark and disturbing, which she openly hid from him.

Well, that’s to be expected, they were enemies at the end of the day.

But it doesn’t mean he didn’t gain from these interactions.
