Chapter 64: 2.17.2 Ploy after ploy!!
"You?... You... Master?" on his heaving chest was the feet of a dead young man. WIth gray flesh and covered in sewage water. The young man maintained a smile on his face, while pushing Kairut down, making it harder for him to get the remainder of the nutrient liquid which would have originally been injected in his sealed cylinder.
But a few swipes of the young man’s hand, the pipe connecting to the nutrient solution came off. Causing the current scene where Kairut was aging up without any nutrients in his body. Making him grow into a twisted self, as nutrients were absorbed from his flesh to support his growth.
"Enough.. Enough." he shouted, trying to drag away the young man’s feet with his hand. But as he didn’t have any energy, it became nigh impossible. There was no strength in his muscles.
Now appearing like a twenty year old, his height only reached that of a teen.
And seeing that Kairut might actually die if he didn’t let Kairut go. The young man dropped a glass full of nutrient solution over Kairut’s body.
Which was red like blood.
"Don’t get worked up so easily. We still have some work to do." Lifting his leg up, the young man walked up to a cell where the experiments were kept and willfully entered it, under the confused gaze of Kairut.
As for Kairut who felt relieved over the fact that the young man had left him alone. Licked the nutrient solution over the floor, before gaining enough energy to go to the original canister, and drinking bulk of it to recover his body.
Whilst, the young man kept watching him with a bizarre smile on his face, while his eyes held contempt for his slave that tried to act out against his master.
And when his stomach bloated up like that of a pregnant woman. Kairut stopped before looking toward the walking dead with fearful eyes. His guard was up and his body had started to awaken its magical potential, which was a sign of him recovering his strength.
"It would seem you are fine, though shorter than before and emaciated, but I dig this new look of yours. The gods would be appreciative of such a glow up."
The way of speech and the method one conducts oneself. Kairut understood that this was none other than his master. The very man he had dared to betray.
And when his magical potential awakened, he was able to confirm this fact easily due to the highly active state of his contract, stamped on his soul.
Though this might not confirm whether the walking corpse in front of him was Jester or not, it still proved one thing. His master was awake and the oppressive air in the city would soon set back to its original state.
It was a fool’s dream to reach the state of control as strong as before, my eyes had been shut off by the brainless men I chose to work with. And I didn’t even know the reason for it.
But that mattered not, for there was a servant of mine who would fill me up with all the information needed.
"Speak of your story my wonderful servant. You should already be aware, but I was sleeping not too long ago."
"You really are him?"
"In the flesh..." I say with grandeur that it matched my current meat body.
Hearing such words, Kairut was left speechless.
WIth the amount of knowledge he had collected through his life of seeking immortality. There was a part where he also explored the possibilities of stealing a body. But soon came to learn how impossible it is to accomplish.
The problem is not the process of stealing someone else’s body. But once you do, whether the body is living or dead, it will start to rot at a fast rate, which is caused by the incompatibility of a soul, mind and body.
There are other methods to slow this rate by giving up the control of the body to the original owner, which in turn would appear as their moments of clarity, before taking over once again. Hence extending the life limit of said body.
Though, it only slows down the rot, and it’s impossible to recover from it unless the invading spirit is purged from said body.
Hence, the path of possession is not that well liked among those seeking a longer life. Even if many have developed a method to find a way to create a compatible possession, there is still no perfect method established yet.
Meaning the body in front of him, which was now under the Jester’s control, would rot in the coming future.
The same body which Jester has shown some care of.
The same body, which would soon turn into mush, as long as Jester kept in the pilot seat.
No, it would rot eventually. Even with all the chemical treatments to extend its life. For a human body, it won’t take long for it to melt on its own in the next ten days.
But here, the Jester was controlling such a body with a gleeful smile.
The same body which Kairut previously assumed held some secret.
The very thing he used to exchange with the Blue Lotus cult.
"You, you knew?"
He feels like he has been played. The previous emotions that Jester had shown concerning Farhad were all false. A ruse to let a fool like him think he found out something about Jester.
’No, this can’t be.’
At this point, he didn’t know what he was doing. Jester had known he would betray him eventually. And hence treated him like a false information dispenser.
And with Farhad’s body disappearing from the morgue and appearing here, also means that thi belief of Blue Lotus was deepened and they would further fall for whatever Jester had in his mind.
"Little servant of mine, currently. I know nothing beside the fact that you betrayed me. Which I liked in truth." Jester spoke with a bright smile, before continuing. "But I would prefer if you tell me the rest of the story, for I can’t help it. I want to know what happened to this great city, while I was away."
In his new body, Jester couldn’t feel much, smell much or even taste much, for he was in a dead body. But one thing he could do was enjoy a good story, told through the lips of none other than his servant.
And knowing that he won’t get any proper answers from Jester, Kairut silently relented to his fate, while explaining his experience since Jester left.
Though, not the whole story. Which Jester understood to some extent. As for why he didn’t dig further and ask for what he earned in exchange for selling away his secrets?
Of course he believed in Kairut to tell him better stories in the future. Leaving him with something to look forward to would drive him to write something much better than his current story.
So it won’t be a lie, but Jester was looking forward to another one of Kairut’s betrayal.
"Good, no, great stories." Jester clapped his hands, appreciating the enjoyable story that Kairut told him, before turning silent and then saying.
"Guess, my time is up."
Jester spoke as his body started to twist and lose control a bit. "Kairut, would you kindly keep this body of mine safe? I wish to be there in person, when it happens..."
"Please?... "
"Yes master... this time, I won’t disappoint!"
"Great, I look forward to it then." With those words, the body of Farhad fell to the floor, like a puppet without a string, causing Kairut, who was struggling to breath, to calm down a bit.
It was also then that he noticed where the body of his master was.
The small cell where he used to keep experimental subjects and its door was closed as well.
Of course, if he wished to, he can open the door. But this simple action of his master confused him further.
The Jester he knew would never make any obvious mistakes, all his actions had a purpose and even the previous worry he showed to Farhad was all a ploy to fool Kairut.
But what now?
What was his master thinking now?
Why seal himself in a cell?
Wouldn’t this be the opposite of his true desires? The need to witness the "great experiment" of his in person?
"Let’s leave it as it is." This was the conclusion that Kairut came up with. Everything had a price and all he was going through was the result of his choices, so Kairut was not someone weak enough to regret it.
There was no regret in his tone, even though he feared his master. Though, it was not a lie that he would have joined the Blue Lotus cult, if he ever got another chance.
For theirs is the immortality he seeked so much.
Hence, with the plan to leave a bug in this room, to monitor the situation of Jester’s body. Kairut was ready to leave and visit another one of his hidden safe houses, built specifically for the moment he abandons his past life in pursuit of a new and better one.
Though before he could, his spiritual sense noticed a change in Jester’s body.
Which slowly rose up from the floor, like an animal and looked around the room curiously. "Meena... kill!" The body of Farhad spoke, calling a new name that Kairut hadn’t heard of before.
Which caused his feet to stop.
"Another one of your ploys?" then ignoring the blabbering corpse, he left the scene.
