Chapter 624: 9.16.2 The empty throne.
Mortals becoming gods?
It appeared odd to ask such questions for mortals have had such dreams since they started to have thoughts.
Everyone wishes to become something greater than they were, they strive for the peak of reality and many still do in the mortal world. Each looking for a path toward eternity, toward godhood.
There are even some mages who outright strive to be a god. Which is why Remira found this question so odd.
"Haven’t they always strived for such since the beginning?"
"Yes, they have." Spoke the jellyfish. "But most remain blind to the path, they lack the methods, the knowledge as well as the creed to be one. In their eyes, there is no one to look up to, no example that they can follow... unless it turned out that mortals can become gods."
"The First Knight?... How?" Remira didn’t know what to say at this point. If the fact that the First Knight had entered the realm of gods was found out, there would be some problems that might arise with time. Some of which she can already imagine.
’The Radiant Order will be targeted.’ That knowledge in the hands of the Radiant order will be envied by certain parties, they would do all in their power to dig through the history and learn as much as they could have the First Knight. And then go even further to mimic it.
"How is the question... but you shouldn’t look for its answer, your patron, he chose to abandon his title and be deemed just a Knight for a Reason." The jellyfish spoke before pushing the cup toward Remira. "Your soul... the more I talk, the more damaged it would be, better to soothe it with some warm tea." It spoke pushing Remira’s a translucent tea with small fishes floating in it.
Which did intrigue her as well as turned her guarded. But considering the goodwill this being had shown her till now, there was no need to act so rudely, so she picked it up with the little strength she had at the time and drank it.
Which did help her at that right moment, sending a cool sensation through her soul which calmed the burning blood in her and pushed out some more corruption out of her pores, which appeared as a speck of black dust from her skin.
"Thank you for this." She spoke before looking at the Jellyfish. "I believe, you telling me all this. There is a purpose for it."
"Yes, there is... I sensed the arrival of that being close by not too long ago, which did help me pinpoint the location of the place you might have come from. And considering how the timing of the two matches, I believe that your patron has sent you out to save you from that place."
"Save me?" Remira wondered. ’Was there really a need for me to be saved?’ She asked, somewhat curious over why the First Knight helped her. Also, what did this Jellyfish mean by the First Knight arrived in that place?
"He... he appeared in the cave?"
"For a while, I did sense him, scaring me awake from my sleep." The jellyfish spoke wriggling its tentacles at the mention of the First Knight. "But that’s all he did... he must have seen the state of the accursed night... so many pieces unstable, so many malformed creatures invading it from time to time.... There is even a hole." The jellyfish complained about the Domain of which he was overseer.
The broken spaces, the open covers, and the "insects", everything appeared as if a person was complaining to Remira about their old broken home. But she knew this wouldn’t be so simple. The words this jellyfish spoke, appeared simple for a reason. For the truth might hurt her more than one might think, the ignorance over the subject and lack of context provided by the jellyfish was sort of a defense mechanism.
"Which is why I come to the main point... help me connect with your Patron, ask him to support me, to support this space, for the longer it goes with my Mistress absence, the weaker this realm will become... and when it breaks." The rest, the Jellyfish didn’t speak, but Remira knew that it wouldn’t be a good thing.
"How... I don’t know."
"You are his saint, his messenger. You are capable of talking to him, so I beseech you. Bring him here... I beseech you."
"I..." Remira looked at the Jellyfish, although she didn’t understand any emotion this jellyfish might have been feeling, she still understood that this thing was pleading for her help. Which made this all the more random.
’Why...’ She wondered. "How do I do it?" She asked.
"Close your eyes, and pray to him... I don’t know more than this." For the Jellyfish, it barely understood how this praying even worked, so all it spoke of was the things he had heard from others, which Remira after a bit of contemplation and as a favor for saving her life, did as was asked of her.
However after ten minutes went by, nothing happened.
"This was noticeable to the jellyfish once he noticed nothing happening around Remira. "Sigh... it would seem he chose to ignore it still." The Jellyfish spoke, feeling disappointed.
Considering the First Knight sent Remira out of that place, it can be seen that he should be aware of the current state of the Accursed Night at the moment. So why didn’t he come to help him?
Well, truth be told, the Jellyfish knew why it might be.
"I apologize, but I don’t feel any different."
"... Then be ready... if he refuses to acknowledge the state of things, then it must mean it’s outside his capability. The fall of this space is inevitable, and once that happens." The Jellyfish spoke finding the whole situation a bit dreadful.
"Ready for the fall?... what would happen once this place breaks?"
"What happens to everything that breaks, it returns to earth."
"...."
******
"The servant of the night still remains hopeful... hah, but not much can be done at this point."
The world never remains static, the old will eventually replaced by the new.
"A god will rise again... one to bring forth a new age, a new path for humanity. Struggling against the inevitable will only cause you more pain." Spoke the figure with a hollow chest, looking toward the blood pool that displayed the figure of Remira as well as the small Jellyfish.
"Lord Knight, are you sure about it?... securing the accursed night can extend the peace for a while longer. And with such peace and the speed of progress since the arrival of that Mortal, the common folks will have the strength to fight back."
"It doesn’t matter what the common mortals wish for, they will endure, as they have done since the very inception of this reality. Delaying it further and leaving the Throne of Night empty will only cause more maleficent beings to invade our realm. You should be aware of what that means."
"... I understand Lord.’
This world, was far more fragile than one might imagine, and its peace was only an illusion tightly held by sacrifices of countless great heroes whose names won’t even be remembered in history.
And the First Knight didn’t fish to let this go on for so long. They need to stop this stalemate somehow. "You shouldn’t worry too much, I woke up early, so I am going to make sure that the Radiant order has an edge in the incoming conflict. Even if this world comes to its knees, we will endure."
The danger the First Knight spoke of was only known among those who had touched the realm of Gods in one way or another. Even common totems that remained on the material plane were unaware of the fight that had been going on in the dark for centuries.
"For now, leaving Brihma alone for now, the remaining sects of Radiant Order are to recruit new blood from now on, the derivative branches of my blood are also allowed."
"Sir... that will probably cause the other divine beings some trouble."
"There is no need to care about what they think. My saint already knows the truth, lowering her burden should suffice for the while."
