Chapter 625: 3.16.3 A bleak future.
Only certain figures were aware of how chaotic the world was. And to them, the plight of mortals was too little to care about. Let them fight, let them die, as through such kind of weeding, the strong will eventually rise to lead the world.
And the First Knight also carried similar beliefs at this point. The long life has a habit of cutting away at a being’s emotions, with few capable of holding on to it and the first Knight had long abandoned them for efficiency.
Remira, unaware of the future that was planned ahead for her, looked blankly at the Jellyfish. She felt apologetic and wondered if something was lacking in her, or of she was truly chosen, because she had heard such words countless times from different people, but barely felt any different besides the merger of the two bloodlines that existed in her.
Was that alone the reason enough? Won’t it be an accident? The kind that Knight Alabasta had once spoken about. "Anomaly is born when two conflicting aspects co-exited with each other." Was the definition she had learned from him. And how he considered Jester to be one of those anomalous beings that have a habit of creating chaos and disasters.
Though the two bloodlines can be considered conflicting due to the nature of the Knight bloodline, it’s not like they can’t coexist with each other, what happens is that the strong blood devours the weaker one. Which is why she can never be one of those accursed beings. But Remira, in her own thoughts blamed herself, wondering if she was similar to that monster or not.
Of course, the Jellyfish didn’t care about her thoughts, knowing the future was set, and it couldn’t do a thing to prevent it, the Jellyfish looked at Remira and asked. "Come with me, let me send you out of this place."
This accursed domain was not something that Remira could exist in naturally. Even with her immunity and as well as self-sufficiency due to her realm, the chances of her surviving here on her own is no more than a mere minute. This place, too much danger exists here, things that Remira can’t even imagine.
If not for the Jellyfish’s timely arrival, Remira might have long fallen into one of those bizarre existences.
"Can I refuse?" Remira wondered after a bit of contemplation.
"Refuse... why refuse? Don’t you wish to leave this place?"
"I do... but not back to the mortal plane."
"You wish to return from where you came?" The Jellyfish looked in a certain direction, before saying. "Your God sent you out for a reason, are you sure about this?" The Jellyfish didn’t know what kind of place that was, to it, everything was just ruins that needed to be cleaned up, but among those certain things, there were always some scary existences that would cause the Jellyfish some trouble, which is why it left them to float around.
As for the giant thing in the void not far from it? That was one of the dangers. And although unaware of its origins and what existed inside it, the Jellyfish knew one thing.
’The broken domain of a sleeping god.’ If an existence like him were to step into it without the protection of the Night goddess, he might suffer. So touching it was not in its priority.
But if it wanted to send Remira back to the place? Well, that can be done. ’Too many holes.’ This whole place was breaking down, and along with the Accursed Night’s deterioration, so did the things that existed in it suffered the same, causing this piece of God’s domain to show some cracks, and if the Jellyfish wanted, it could send Remira in.
"I can do it, it’s easy... but I wonder if your god would be angry with me." There were few who didn’t fear the First Knight. A god that rose to the heights so fast that none among the gods could even react or understand the reason.
And by the time they did, it was already too late. Although not on the level of the Three Supremes, his strength can never be looked down upon.
So the Jellyfish feared him, for it was not even a god, just a Primal Totem that has existed since time immemorial, which just went to show the absurd the First Knight’s strength is if even a being like this had to consider him so much.
"No, the first knight won’t do, for if he truly held an interest in the matters, he would have listened to my prayers from before." Remira was somewhat disappointed. She had complicated emotions since learning that the First Knight was actually a God. But those emotions also made her proud and somewhat confused. It felt good to be so high on the totem pole and confused over what difference would it make.
Which let Remira be aware of one thing. "Nothing changes, I still need to find Malidi." Was her thoughts. Nothing changes, nor will she speak about her realizations to others in her Order. There is a reason why it’s hidden, and she won’t become the whistleblower, no matter what happens.
"I can send you... but not to the same place, for I don’t even know which part of that broken realm you came from." The Jellyfish chose to follow Remira on this. As long as it wasn’t impacted in any way, it would do its job without any shame.
Not to mention, this girl, although the First Knight didn’t listen to her, the fact that she was picked as a Chosen, which had happened only a couple of times through history goes to show her importance in the First Knight’s eyes.
That is to say, being in the good grace of her will bring many advantages in the future, even if it doesn’t help it for now.
"What does it look like to you? The insides? The outsides?" Remira asked with some curiosity. Not being able to go to the same place, but still able to enter it? Which meant there were options, more than one exit.
"Many holes abound, I see them, the cracks big enough to send you into them... as for what happens later, I remain uncertain." The Jellyfish spoke, though what it didn’t say was that it believed that the First Knight wouldn’t let Remira throw herself to death. Which would leave him with two choices.
Come here and stop Remira through possession or an avatar which is exactly what the Jellyfish is looking forward to, but he didn’t dare threaten Remira in any way or form nor did it attempt to put any ideas in her mind, which was far easier for a being of his nature.
Playing with minds is its domain, but it never read her mind.
"Can... can I get to the center?"
*******
"It didn’t work."
"Goes to show how special my creator is."
Farhad walked without stopping with Rosso following behind him while talking to the little rat from time to time.
It was a bit absurd to learn that the fake Jester from the dream world merged with one of his clones, which made Farhad wonder just what kind of world was this.
His vault of Knowledge was not on the level of Rosso’s, but even then he knew that even Rosso might not have the answer to it. One can only blame it all on this bizarre place, this heaven or hell, whatever one calls it.
’But it’s understandable why a Scholar like Malidi would come here.’ In this place, you can see the history of the world, and even gain knowledge.
Farhad had even experimented for a bit and learned that everything he picked in these worlds, with the exception of the living things—that is, the little coins and gold, or even dead spirits—he could carry to the other world.
’Why him?’ Which was all the more bizarre in Farhad’s eyes, through small experiments he had learned the rules that dictate this place, and even souls couldn’t be brought to the next world, which is what he just experimented with.
’Jester is not a living soul.... Not anymore.’ These words sounded odd, but what else can he say? How can he explain why the souls of two beings merge?
Something was odd, something that the Jester had kept hidden all this while.
"Are you going to follow us again?" Farhad turned to look at the Dwarves that have followed him for the last four worlds, much to the embarrassment of the other party. Farhad could see that the frustration of these dwarves was increasing by the minute, with them even wondering why the compass kept pointing in the direction of Farhad and no one else.
Yes, the Compass for a while only points to Farhad, and no new bodies or anything else, which made Arbood frustrated.
He didn’t like this feeling, being forced together with his enemy’s son, the enemy that had killed his own son.
It was a dirty feeling. But if the Compass shows this path, he has to follow it. ’Don’t deny it... if it shows you the path, keep following it.’
"We.... it’s the same direction as you... believe me, I don’t wish to follow you if not for these circumstances." Arbood wanted to know how Farhad kept finding the right path.
The compass in his hand, was not a simple tool, made by ancient dwarves using the scales of a Divine Dragon. To use it, one needs to feed it the true blood of a Dragon, something that a dragon only produces twice a year. So each drop is as precious as the highest class potion.
