Chapter 623: 9.16.1 A new God.

While doing such things, Remira finally came across a world, a place where there was no end in sight—a place without a ground or the sky.

It was the void that left her breathless. "What..." And there went the only oxygen left in her lungs.

There was no light to see, no sound to hear, no land to step on, and no air to breathe. It felt like hell for a moment, a hell that might take her life. But it didn’t take long before her breathing stopped, and her eyes adapted to the surrounding nothingness. Being a Grandmaster, her biology had long differed from normal humans, even if she still remained a hint of her mortality, she wouldn’t die so easily in a dead environment like this.

As her metabolism died down her blood started to convert its vitality into nutrients that Remira needed to survive. She woke up from her stupor, her eyes darting around in the dark world which slowly illuminated, as she saw more than just lights at this point. She saw the faint energy exuding from the creatures or things in this place. All floating in the dead of the void.

"What is this place?’ She tried to speak, but no sound came from her mouth.

’What is the goal here?’ This place, if not for her being a Grandmaster, the majority would die in this place just after entering it.

"Oh so foolish, entering the domain of the accursed night... Begone or face the wrath of my nightmares." Spoke a voice directly into Remira’s ears, which caused her to bleed through her nose for a bit. ’What is this?’ This voice alone contained a level of corruption that Remira had never witnessed before. Even her potent blood of Radiance could barely stand up to it, leaving the little stability her body had gained to break down and cough up blood.

"No, you.... You are different, that blood." Spoke the voice again, this time far lower than before as it continued. "Descendant of the First Knight... " The voice meant to continue his sentence, but it slowed down its voice and slowly considered Remira’s situation.

And then as if showing some pity on her, a small space with Remira’s at the center took form, which slowly formed into what one can say to be a small hut with two chairs in the center.

"HAahwa" Which is when Remira started to recover her lost breath while coughing a bit more blood. "I apologize... I didn’t wish to intrude...*Cough." She coughed a bit more, throwing out what appeared to be a black fungus-like substance from her neck." Which reminded her of the small tooth she found stuck in her neck too long ago. ’Something is not right.’ It was at this moment that Remira noticed that unlike before, there were no corpses here. None to speak of. "But... can I know... where am I?"

At such questions, a transparent jellyfish slowly took form over one of the chairs. "A weak form should suffice... I wonder if it still hurts?" It spoke while ignoring Remira’s questioning.

They appeared surprised at first, but seeing that the hostile tone for the being had disappeared, including the pressure, she breathed a sigh of relief before getting up and saying. "I thank thee for kindness, it doesn’t hurt anymore."

"Then sit in front of me, for I hold some simple questions for the chosen." The scene appeared a bit odd to Remira. Not long before, this being’s voice alone had hurt her mind, but now it was asking her to sit across it for a conversation.

What was going on?

But then again, for beings of such high ranks, it was easy for them to know that Remira was not a simple Knight, she was the Chosen of the First Knight, so her ending up here wouldn’t be a coincidence.

"Ignorant of this pace, aren’t you?" The jellyfish spoke.

"Beforehand, I was in the Caves of Wonderment... I don’t know how I ended up here. What is this place?"

"Caves of Wonderment?... I wonder what it is?" The voice asked again, leaving Remira a bit befuddled over the words. This jellyfish appeared well-spoken and from the way it chose to accommodate to her current strength, it can be seen that it didn’t hold any hate towards her.

The earlier warning was probably made out of habit, nothing more.

"It deemed forbidden zone among the mortals... a cave whose entrance travels from place to place..." Remira then spoke of her experiences inside the cave, which still left the jellyfish confused.

"Can’t recall of anything like this... but if it travels the whole world, it can explain why you came to the domain of the accursed night." The jellyfish wriggled its tentacle before summoning what appeared to be some ancient clay pots with tea in them.

"Domain of the accursed night?... What is it?"

"It’s... its not something you should be curious about... you are still too young and weak to worry about such matters. But to answer your one question, the cave you spoke of exists within this domain, floating in it as many other objects do, but few hold the interest in interacting with the material world." The jellyfish spoke before pointing the tentacle towards itself. "As for me, my name is still too much for you... but I can tell you my job title."

"I am the Overseer of this place, the Overseer of the Accursed Night in my Master’s absence..." the being spoke with pride and some tiredness in its voice.

"Accursed Night? Are you speaking about the Night Goddess?" The night goddess, a god that was said to be on the same level as the God of the Sun. Her church which was named "Eternal Night" was the religion of mages, with its ranks filled with mages as well.

But since the rise of the First Knight and the Mages becoming more godless in their own pursuit of power, the belief slowly died down and weakened with time forcing the majority of the congregation to go into seclusion, with barely few of their priest ever coming out to the real world anymore.

As for the Knights of this church? Well, there were the branches that were born from it, but they remained weak and mostly isolated from the world as well. Well, it didn’t help that the majority of the bloodlines from the church were weaker than even common totems, the reason for it? None understood.

Though there were suspicions that the Goddess of Night had fallen since the days of First Knight, and the truth was only recently coming out. Which is why the majority of the mages that believed in her died.

"Night Goddess... the mortals truly have a simple mind. Attributing her greatness to something so little as night." Spoke the Jellyfish as its tendrils danced with annoyance, which did scare Remira a bit. For she felt, that if she was even touched by those tentacles, something bad would happen.

"I apologize... it has been a while since I had a proper conversation with someone here." The Jellyfish stopped wriggling its tentacles after seeing Remira’s expression, before speaking. "Don’t think too much about what I said... But you are correct, this is something that belongs to her... even if it’s in a bit of disrepair." The Jellyfish’s tentacles died down again.

"What do you mean sir?"

"I require help... support of a kind from your God."

"My god?... but I have none."

"Don’t jest child, you are your God’s chosen, the Knight of Radiance... the God of the Burning Zeal." At those words, Remira’s face changed, as if lightning struck her mind, causing her to bleed once again. But the Jellyfish didn’t move much, it just looked at Remira and spoke. "As I feared... they still hide the fact that the Knight became the god, those words must be heavy on you, considering there is no one to share the burden of these words for you."

"What... what do you mean..?... Sir." Remira spoke barely holding any strength in her body as she asked.

"Share these words or forget them... as a Knight of Radiance, you should be aware of what this means, don’t you?" At those words, Remira paused and started to reconsider what she just learned at that moment.

For years, many have wondered if the First Knight can be considered a God or not... but the majority of the Church, although agreeing with the First Knight’s strength had always denied the fact that he was a god. In their own words, The first Knight not only reached the Ranks of the Prime Daemons but opened a new realm after the Daemons, which was still below the true gods.

Some of them had even come to call him a False God due to this very reason.

"Why...?" Remira asked confused and in pain. She didn’t know what this meant and why keep it hidden. But the jellyfish after a bit of contemplation over whether and then thinking it won’t harm his side much, chose to to tell Remira. "What do you think will happen if the Mortals learned that they can become gods?"
