Chapter 577: 9.06.4 Finally saved.
"It’s because it is a disaster, among the records we found about him, he is noted as a natural disaster that strikes every millennium. There is no stopping something so absurd, something that has existed since the days of the First Radiant Knight." Magistar Jasper spoke, opening the file and pinpointing toward a serpent as well as the Knight that fought it.
A picture that also attracted Remira’s gloomy eyes. Because for some reason, she felt attracted to the figure of the small human in it. "As is noted, around the year 875 of the Knight age, which was considered the golden time due to the many knight bloodlines being born after the Curse calamity was ended. A serpent rose from the seas"
"A serpent that was thought to be a simple Imoogi, which many of the legendary Knights hoped to defeat and make a name for themselves, but the truth was far worse. It’s not a simple Imoogi as many thought at that time, but a Fallen or one should say, it was the first Fallen Knight."
Fallen Knight, is a term pretty alien to Remira even at this point, because what does the fall even mean here? And how can a Knight fall?
"The bloodlines of Knights generally belong to a God or Totems under them, the majority of whom still exist or remain ’Alive’ in their own realm too high for the mortal eyes to see. And the Knights of such bloodline can never fall, for they can never walk the wrong path as their totem would never allow it."
"But Fallen Knights, as rare as they are, can only exist if the source of their blood is not alive anymore." It doesn’t mean that a Knight of a fallen God or Totem would be a fallen one, but it only means that they have a certain chance to go astray and hence turn into Fallen.
"He was the first one, though at that time, no one had a name for it and many ignorant of his true strength walked into the fire and faced an end themselves."
"How many died?"
"Such details were not noted here, but what is noted is the response from the Radiant order after some of our own Knights fell in his hand, which finally caused the First Knight to move." At those words, Remira’s eyes turned bright. For some reason, she feels that this kind of information shouldn’t be shared so easily.
Not with herself or anyone else. Every information from the First Knight would bring a weight on the soul, which would be dangerous and Remira can already feel a dense suppression on her body as words left Jasper’s mouth, which forced her to get up and put her hand on Jasper’s lips. "Stop, it’s dangerous." She spoke, before suddenly noticing that her hands were touching Jasper’s lips making her embarrassed and taking it off at the instant.
"Well, you are getting shameful with time," Jasper spoke with a laugh before pausing. "Remira, I won’t say more than this, but you should understand that what you faced was eventually going to happen... this thing, this man comes every millennium, undying and unstoppable until being sealed."
"What happens after he is sealed or why is there no better way than this? No one knows. It’s why he is deemed as a natural disaster." At those words, Remira finally calmed down before speaking.
"The man, before he went mad... although not innocent, he was not a bad person. He just seemed to wish for peace and nothing more."
"I have read the reports, so I know to some extent what you mean. However, I also noticed some odd things he did... singing songs when angry, running away from fights when he had enough strength to fight back in conflicts when his life was in danger, and getting angry at even smaller things that one of his stature and strength should ignore."
"From what I saw, I would diagnose that man with schizophrenic disorder. He was unstable from the moment he came here. Getting angry at little things that don’t matter, while ignoring and treating the things that should matter lightly."
"A sign that he was already far gone by the time he came here, all your action did was bright forward his outburst by a few years at most and who knows what might have happened if such an outburst happened outside Rudrain without the protection of powerful beings." Jasper was a magistar that specifically dealt with the mental issues of the Knights, whether they be small or big.
And from the information he had obtained from the noble families and the spies that were put around Heroth, the story he learned of was enough to diagnose Heroth with.
"He was a volcano on the cusp of an explosion, no one could have prevented that. Though what your actions did is make him explode earlier, exposing him to the world." Jasper spoke, consoling Remira. "So don’t think too hard. Focus on the future what you can do now and not what you should have done before."
This was a conversation that happened about a week ago, and although still suffering from immense Guilt Remira was back in action, or so it was said on paper, but all Remira did at this time was read reports and manage the subset of the Radiant Eyes for the reimbursement towards the victims of Rudrain attack.
However, it was at such a time that she noticed some odd movements in the city once again. Though it was so subtle that only a few among the higher nobles would have noticed.
As for the signs?
It was the lack of security around the streets, followed by an increase in taxes, which is such a bad thing to do just after the disaster that the people of Rudrain experienced. But this just went to show the seriousness of the situation. ’They are getting ready?’ she thought, looking forward to a war that was far from her reach at this point.
No matter what happens next, she chooses not to act for the time being. She needs to take a rest and stabilize her emotions before taking any further steps. This is the best thing to do for someone in her situation.
Any rushed actions might end up causing another disaster. Or so she had come to believe at this point. Constant failures had a habit of deflating the ego of even kings.
Well, that was until around the evening, she saw a face she never thought she would see again. "You haven’t left?"
"I was going to, but I though to say hi to an old friend before doing so," Sheva spoke, lacking the weak will that she carried while working for Remira all those years ago.
Long gone was the mortal who only ever knew to follow orders. Now in her place was a confident woman who dared to face Remira even knowing what her opponent was capable of.
Was it arrogance, or her belief in Remira that she won’t do anything to her?
Well whatever it was, she was here now.
’She is here.’ Recalling how she had tried to pursue her but lost track after that monster appeared, Remira really didn’t know what to say at this point. "A cup of Coffee?"
"I prefer Tea."
The two friends that were turned enemies were going to a coffee shop calmly without any facade or ulterior motives.
It was like going to an outing with an old friend.
At this point, Remira might be unaware of how this meeting will change her entire life.
******
The war was devastating. Though I was not talking about myself.
The domain of that totem, opened an entirely new world, a real world that was cut off from the material plane, which is how it was able to seal Wrath’s teleportation from acting out.
Making it also that monkey’s home field that had its own unique aspect. Like entirely new natural laws where any sound one makes turns into water. Which was dangerous for mortals as they could drown the moment they opened their mouths.
But for these massive entities, even when the pressure of water caused by the sound they generated during their battle kept increasing. There was no stopping them.
Utter annihilation, this was a destruction on a scale unheard of.
Of course, the one to suffer most was Wrath, her body currently breaking and bleeding profusely which floated up and became part of the blood orb above Drinker’s head.
"Such youthful blood was wasted on you. But I would thank thee for elevating its flavor to the next level." Drinker spoke with a capricious laughter.
This was so enjoyable for him that he wanted to thank the foolish prince who fell here. If not for him, he wouldn’t come to find such a wonderful target for himself.
A target that can barely fight due to the unstable state she came here in.
As for the monkey? He didn’t care about such Totems, there were hundreds of them here. Bound in their place due to the realized domain. It’s the only way this one without the protection of a God or the support of believers can exist on the material plane.
Not like him who can wander wherever he wants.
"I would relish your blood to no end." Spoke Drinker, turning the orb of blood above him into countless words that flew to Wrath, intending to end her life then and there.
It was an attack that she couldn’t ignore. Even if her domain can be unfurled here and she teleported, even then she won’t be able to escape such a unique attack born of her own blood.
Which was finally the thing that pushed her to the limits, turning her calm eyes red with anger.
Red with wrath. "I will turn your spine into a child’s rattle." Were her words as her small body grew in size and girth, turning uglier and monstrous under the surprised eyes of Drinker.
A transformation that turned her from a normal human girl into a monster made of pure muscles and fiery hair that danced like fire.
A transformation that ended up tearing away her clothes as well as everything on her body.
Including the little ring on her finger in which I was sealed.
And it was at this point, that a certain figure who had been waiting all this time from the side appeared right below the hulking figure of Wrath and grabbed the broken ring. "I really thought you left me to die."
"Believe me, old friend, I really wanted to do it." Spoke Kairut, before using the little tool he had been gifted by Blue Rose to kill himself the next moment.
