Chapter 578: 9.06.5 Exploited became the exploiter.

You must be wondering what just transpired. How can an enemy like Kairut suddenly turn into a friend? Why would he choose to go against his own master for helping the little old me from such a predicament?

Well, the answer was that he never denied the will of his master. This was her intention from the start.

Well, to understand the situation, we have to go back a bit, a few years or a decade at most when this very wonderful woman met me for the first time after the incident with Remirca came to a close with her capture.

"I apologize for what I did to you, but you should understand, that a sacrifice worthy of your rebirth is not so easily found." I had bowed to her that day, apologizing for the little trick I pulled on her. Not like that was part of my will, it’s not something I wished to do but was forced to.

She did understand on the surface, though I understood that if not for the protection of Lord Emotion at that time, the state in which I would have found myself would be way worse than death.

It’s one of her abilities, a talent where death is more desirable.

Of course, It’s never ok to have an enemy eying you from the side, who knows when they might betray you, just take Lord Emotion for example, he did it the moment he got the chance to end me.

Though at that time, I never knew when he would strike, nor did I expect his betrayal. But I had kept my guard up since day one under my own reasoning as well as Malidi’s warning.

But unlike in the case of Emotion where whatever I did won’t ever be enough. This woman who had suffered a fate worse than death herself. Well, she knows when to appreciate a good gesture. A trait too rare in this cursed world.

As for proof of that? Well, Henry her "nephew" of sorts is proof enough. Which is why I did my best to please her. Giving her information and help where she asked.

Even helping her cultivate a force of her own, a new and better Blue Lotus cult with some old members and new ones that joined later.

And unlike the zealot nature of their group from before, the new one was far Orthodox in nature and far from both Yethel and Cynark.

Though their stories, we can talk about later. Not to mention, how my little trick had forced her to take that Joyful Madness’s hand. Such small help won’t be much due to the fact that she still served a god that she didn’t want to.

This is where I gave her an idea, and we both had since come to a simple agreement. Although it isn’t possible for now. She had a way out and for that to happen, she needed my help because It’s something only I was capable of doing.

Making it so, my survival meant her freedom, and although she might act one way in Yethel, her intentions since the start had only been one. My comeback.

Truth be told, when I initially sent out a signal putting a mark on my head. The one I wanted to attract was none other than her, my precious children just happened to be lucky enough to meet me earlier.

The explosion rang, turning and sending pieces of Kairut’s body all over the place, which did free some of the insects that hid in his body, though under the might of a powerful domain and Wrath, some of these insects drowned, while others were crushed under the weight of the Legendary aura.

However, when all was said and done, there was no trace of Kairut left alive. He died just like how he appeared, instantly.

Leaving some befuddled over what happened, until the thrill of the battle took over their reasoning, treating this small incident as nothing more than just that, a small little fun accident.

Though, what these people might be unaware, far away from their position where the battle took place, in a small community of Islanders that looked to the sky, worshiping the odd happenings far into the horizon as a divine advent, there was a small little cricket that eyed the very same divine apocalypse in the distance with some envy.

"You have long reached the ranks of Legendary, still envious of those people?" I asked Kairut, who paused for a bit before speaking. "I don’t wish to stop, not anymore."

Kairut had struggled to live longer for a long time. He had gone so far as to give up his Family’s Legacy, which was the School of Occult under the Mage Institute by the name of Lucien’s Abode.

Though that was not all he sacrificed for a longer life. Though such details were kept deeply hidden in Kairut’s heart.

"Pushing the goal post now that you have a longer life?... Hah, and imagine, you were wishing to turn out like me." I spoke with a hint of sarcasm.

"You helped, so it’s not all bad." He spoke, taking a flight with his little wings.

The current Kairut was a Legendary being who had mastery over the insect spells belonging to the occult, a Legendary Entomancer. But even for such a being as him, he can’t escape the attack of such strong beings who each had "realized" domains.

So how did he survive?

The answer remained in the hands of Blue Rose. She was not the master of reincarnation for nothing, and it didn’t take much effort on her part to hand one of her new servants some extra help on the side.

Which was the True Mark Incarnation Technique. A simple spell that can add an extra life to the one who cast it.

Just like how I do it in a long way, storing backups all over the world, the spell did pretty much the same. But it was not as weak as my method. I was still a slave to a core soul, which when harmed in any way would mean my doom.

While the True Mark Incarnation Technique just left a mark on any creature. And once you die in every aspect possible. You would reincarnate in the body that carries your mark once again while carrying all strength from your previous life.

Though there were restrictions on the kind of bodies in which you can leave the mark. Specifically, the target should never exceed the intelligence of a 5-month-old child. Otherwise, the influence of the soul you took over might cause some mental corruption.

This is why it’s generally recommended to leave the mark on animals before reconstructing a new body with any method you have in your hand.

However, for Kairut, this was not much of an issue. He had long abandoned his true body since long ago, what remains is just a skeleton and pieces of flesh held together by countless insects that make up his body.

As for me? I just latched onto his soul when the magic became active after his death, which reincarnated me alongside him, though I was more of a parasite in this case.

"Where to now?" He asked, and I said without a shame on my face. "To my children, they must be worried about me."

There is no reason to abandon those kids. Not when I needed them to lead some of the strays to where I wanted them to go.

The world was cruel to the kind. It’s a conclusion that Remira had come to recently enough. Being kind in this world can be treated as a sin on the same level as Weakness. Where those wrong people can exploit one’s kindness just like they abuse the weak.

And in Remira’s mind, the woman ahead of her was pretty much the same.

Sheva a soldier who had tried to kill herself in the past but was then saved by an old friend, who ended up exploiting her. However, the bigger joke was that the man himself was exploited by a bigger villain.

Though from what Remira understood, that man was not always bad, nor was he bad by his end. Kindness remained in his heart till the end, but even with such kindness, he ended up doing wrong things after he suffered from such things on his own.

Which taught Remira another thing.

Once a Kind person suffers enough, where the bad people keep chipping away at the kindness. The Kind person themselves turns into another kind of exploiter. They end up doing the very thing they suffered from.

Just like Sheva at this moment. Appearing kind on the surface, silently drinking tea in a coffee shop while waiting for Remira to speak. Though Remira had long understood that the kind and weak Sheva was no more. She is just another part of Jester’s giant Machinations.

"Speak of it, I wonder why you would come to me while being aware of all the dangers?"
