Chapter 568: 9.04.4 Husband material.

In anger, he punched the snake that was sealed in the sky, but nothing happened. There was no response from either the beast or his master. "WHY DID HE DO IT?... I SHOULD HAVE GONE IN WITH THE RELIC!!" Shouted Hemant.

There is nothing more shameful for a Knight to have his Lord die in battle.

It’s a Knight’s Job to protect its lord, not the other way around.

"Sir, nothing works on this beast..." Spoke one of the commanders that led the Armada. Which further angered Hemant. "Ignore it, this thing is sealed here for a month at the minimum, focus on searching for remnants for our LORD.

No matter how much Hemant struggled or tried to look for his lost lord, nothing came up. Not even a single piece of information.

The only thing he was left with was hatred, hatred toward his incompetency as well as the giant beast that appeared as a statue hovering over the seas.

There were even some scouts from the close by island nations that were part of the alliance. Their intent was pretty clear, though from the way they maintained their distance, without doing anything else did worry some of the commanders among the Armada, as long as the Alliance didn’t come asking for questions or even ask the Cynark Empire for taking responsibility. Everything will be fine.

"Sir, the communications have been established, and the Grand General is calling for you." Whether it be strength, position, or even experience, the commanders as well as the two generals that came on this ship were on a higher level than Hemant in all aspects. But once the communications were established, the one to get called for a talk with the Grand General turned out to be Hemant.

Which did make the Two leading the charge here a bit apprehensive at first. Then considering that Hemant had failed his job as a Knight, things might not be as what they expected them to be.

Their Grand General had just lost his beloved Grandson, it’s better if none of them be at the ear end of his communications. So they easily let Hemant go.

They let him become the sacrifice for the Grand General to take out his frustrations on.

And Hemant, while being aware of it all, still chose to face the Grandfather who lost his only hope head-on.

He was ready for it all, whether it be cruel words or even crueler punishment. He was ready to handle it all on his shoulders. This is the least Hemant can do for his mistake.’Sorry Lord..." He spoke in his heart, then he recalled his wife, his kids, and the rest of his family. Making the mood of Hemant drop down further.

But on the surface, he didn’t dare to show any of it. He needs to be steadfast, he needs to be in his best state to explain to Deimos what happened.

So with some shame and sadness on his face, he picked up the receiver and spoke. "The failed Knight Hemant is reporting for duty." Spoke

What happened here, or at least the important details were already sent to the mainland which did cause the dispatch of certain powerful individuals along the coastline of Cynark. Though the fact that one of their most precious gems, a beloved prince had died was hidden for the most part. Only a small level of higher-ups had been made aware of the matter.

Among which Deimos was at the top.

Hemant can only imagine the pain that the Grand General must be feeling at the moment. And considering the first thing he heard from the other side of the comms was a deep sigh, Hemant was ready to accept whatever was coming his way.

However, instead of hateful words, Deimos in a calm tone asked. "Explain in detail, from start to finish, what happened."

The details haven’t been talked about as of yet, huge part of the royals still remain in the dark over the matters. The main part of the reason was, they were not too involved with Amir to begin with. And among the certain branches of the family, they were instead happy of Amir’s demise. Specifically, the families that were born out of Deimos.

To them, Amir alone had attracted the love and focus of the greatest member of their family, which they couldn’t allow, but forced by the circumstances and pressure from Deimos, they were feeling happy, or at least those in the know.

On the other hand, as Hemant reaches the part of the story where Amir gives up his life, Deimos asks. "Why didn’t you take the locket from him?" It was a question that Hemant had expected since long ago.

But what can he say?

The most he remembers is suffering from a huge pressure that injured his very being. He was incapable of movement, and if not for Amir throwing him on the ship, he would have died by drowning instead.

So how can he, in that state ever hope to achieve what Amir did? But he also understood that this was just an excuse. It was his own weakness that forced Amir to act in the place.

Which is why the answer Hemant came to at the end was. "I was weak." It was his weakness that turned him into a burden instead of a shield.

"Grand General, my weakness is all on me. I don’t wish to run from the responsibility of failing at my job. So punish me for my insolence." Spoke Hemant dropping to his knees, though Deimos couldn’t see it, he could still feel the reverence and shame in Hemant’s voice.

However, like before, the tone of Deimos didn’t change as much, there was no anger, no hatred, and there was no emotion whatsoever as he spoke. "You have been insolent, that part is true."

"But, you are not insolent for failing to protect your lord. You are insolent to look down on him." Deimos spoke with a certain tone that Hemant hadn’t heard before.

He appeared more familiar, which was odd considering the situation. "Grand General, what do you mean."

"There is a limit to your foolishness. Your lord is far too capable to die such an easy death." At those words, something lit up in Hemant’s eyes, before it soon disappeared. "I, I have looked for him everywhere, if he was well, as I hope my lord to be. Then I should have found him."

"Then the answer is obvious, isn’t it?" Deimos spoke from the other end of the comms. "Someone took him away before you can respond..."

******

"You really intend to bring him with us? That is dangerous." On the side, an injured Owl spoke. Showing that most if not all of his injuries from before were not a lie or acts that Amir had expected.

Part of it remains true, it’s just the opponents he faced were used to adapting to situations at a faster rate than Amir could have expected.

"Sis, you’re really falling for this one?... All the great men we have seen till now, and you fall for this?" Skart spoke, also as injured, showing some dissatisfaction with Gazelle’s choice.

"Sister..., but... but he tried to kill us... why..." On the other side, Minat appeared with some red eyes as before. The scare he got after seeing that Owl was put in so much danger made his eyes a bit runny. But that much, he could handle.

What he couldn’t handle was the betrayal he felt when Gazelle asked him to save the very man who tried to kill Owl not too long ago.

"I don’t deny that I do have some feelings for this fool of a man, but there are some other reasons I chose to save him." Gazelle, on the other hand, in her true face spoke while looking at the partially cooked man, who barely hung on to his life. "Our Lord intended to recruit him, but as a fool he is, he denied it. Part of it is probably his misconception about us... imagine if we can turn him to our side, how much better it would be."

"Hah, you are just doing a husband Hunting, if our Lord was still awake, he would have given you an earful." Spoke with Skart from the side. Which did go ignored by the rest, as Owl, the most injured of the group spoke,

"Not every day we can come across a Royal, this is a good opportunity to learn about them and their bloodline..." Owl was far more pragmatic than he appeared.

Although the blood ban was set up for the majority of Knight families in fear of their blood being abused by a third party. It didn’t mean there was no way. His master had succeeded in doing so before, and Owl expects he can do the same, and then use it to cultivate Amir as a blood jar for some specific Exorcist spells.

It would be a wondrous development if he succeeds.
