The God of Jesters
Chapter 530 - 8.10.2 She found out.

Chapter 530: 8.10.2 She found out.

It all began four years ago when something huge happened in Yethel.

Since awakening to her bloodline, Sheva has taken the position that was always meant for her: leader of Team Two of Jester’s Church, a group whose entire existence focused on subterfuge and information gathering from the enemies.

For a soldier like her, it took a bit before she adapted to a leadership position, but once she did, it all felt so natural to her. She felt like she was back in her element.

And while she was back from the frontline after creating some chaos behind enemy lines by sabotaging their supplies, she received a message from her second in command, Kanha. Who requested that she return as soon as possible.

"What happened?" The war was losing steam and the winner was already established, but it didn’t mean her job was over. No, for her, this was the perfect chance to plant some spies among enemies while they were still reeling from the loss. So being called back to the capital of Yethel was not good in her eyes. Precious time here was wasted, as for what? She didn’t understand completely.

"What is it that you can’t directly tell me through a messenger?" She asked Kanha, who appeared to act a bit paranoid while he looked around the room for a bit, before explaining. "Some things have happened in the capital, few know of it and I had been given an order to inform you of the matter as well."

At those words, she smelled the gunpowder in the air. Now that she thinks about it, the little bastard who played the dirty game with her and Jara, which in retrospect was not so cruel if one were to think about it.

She had come to accept her fate with time, and for some reason, she also knows that if not for the certain choices that Jester made, neither she nor Jara would have made it out of the war alive all those years ago.

Leaving her with some conflicting emotions as the years went by. But it didn’t mean that she never hated that fella, Jara was still stuck in an ominous place, she didn’t even know if he lived after so long or not. But she put up hope of one day meeting him whence she fulfills her promise.

A promise that still feels like a lie sometimes. But from what she had learned till now, she understood that reality was weirder than fiction.

"Speak of it, what’s the matter?" Her eyes lit in a golden hue, finding oddly enough that Kanha still remained as clear as ever, he didn’t seem to incur any bad karma even now, which was something that still surprised Sheva. But at least this told that nothing too serious had happened that would force Kanha to make some drastic choices.

At least not till now.

"The Clown had been compromised, the promises can’t be fulfilled on his end." He spoke words that sounded odd only for the first second before Sheva creased her brows. "What do you mean?"

"That’s the complete message... " He spoke, not intending to speak in detail about what might have transpired before handing her another letter. "And this is followed up by the message, a change in our mission."

That was the very day she had left Yethel along with some of her compatriots and for the next few years, she did as was asked, making a name for herself in the seas before being poached by the Bartender’s Guild, who liked what they saw in Sheva and with some simple push on her own hand, she found herself in the city of Rudrain, where her father resided.

A torturer for the Church of Red Sun, though among the church, he holds the identity of a Heretics Inquisitor. But when she had come to the city, the man was never her target.

As it was said before, her mission had changed, the target had changed, and the goal had changed as well.

"Mess up the church of Truthful Deceit." Was the order that was given to her, the reason, she didn’t know nor did she care about it at all.

She was here for one purpose and one purpose alone. To create chaos and destabilize the church that holds some important position in the governance of Cynark.

But until a year ago, there was virtually no success on her end at all. The outsiders were heavily monitored and none in her control held enough force to make the church bow down like she wanted to do.

No one until Rosso and Heroth appeared.

Both men she didn’t know much about. But if there was one thing she did know was that she couldn’t look down on these men, at least on Rosso, who she considered was from Team One of Jester, a group that hadn’t shown its head for the last five years, reasons still remained unknown, but Sheva thinks it has something to do with the changes in the mission.

Which is why when the light lit up in her pager, she was so interested in this new guy who might just help her mess things up a bit.

Although Team One also didn’t have any high-ranked individuals, their talents and abilities were considered too bizarre for one to handle. Case in point Jara, who appeared to be a simple man but held powers too weird for some to pinpoint even.

Exorcists are weird that way, capable of manipulating the dangerous curse energy without harming themselves.

But that’s where she was wrong. And she was happy about being wrong.

If there was something she didn’t like was the fact that the uninvolved victims left in this new individual’s wake.

’Don’t worry, once I am done with the church, I will take your revenge.’ Sheva had such thoughts when the mosquitoes rose into the air.

"Apprehend both of them." She ordered, as the Knights zoned in on Sheva and Heroth the old man that lay there suppressed under the force of Grand Knights.

But their actions mattered naught for her. "I am JUST!!" She spoke words that would usually get ignored, but no one could have ignored her as the light that shone from her body startled the remaining people in the church.

"What?" the Grand Priestess Lady Lies was the first to react, swaying her hand and increasing the suppressing force of the Court on Sheva, but none of that worked on her. "That power has o sway on me anymore." Chains appeared from her body, binding her arms and legs, turning into a golden armor while two extra centipedes broke out of her spine, eyeing the Knights as well as the Priestess with some hunger. "So much sin... so much corruption. It was so hard to hold back."

The bone of Judgement was her patron, the totem that she borrowed power from. And the being whose Knights have a bad habit of self-immolating due to the restrictions the Bone of Judgement had placed on his blood.

Making that few among his blood have survived, and among those majority remain incapable of harnessing their blood. Of course, there are some perverts like Sheva’s father who had found a new method. But it’s not about him.

The church was closed at the moment and most of the force was outside, dealing with the issues that Rosso created and something Sheva was unaware of. But what she did know was that she had forced the church to isolate itself with her inside.

"Don’t worry mister Heroth, I will make sure you get out of this place alive." She promised the old man who had been cursing a lot not so long ago, but now his neck had been grabbed tightly by a Knight who looked at Sheva as if looking at a dead woman.

Of course, the Grand Priestess didn’t think as such. Her intuition was much stronger. She could see that the centipedes from Sheva were eyeing her as well as most people in this church like food. ’Blessed.’ She said these words, knowing full well what this entailed.

’First that girl from Radiant Order and now this... the time is really here.’

"Don’t fight her, back off." She ordered her men, who acted as they were ordered. But it didn’t mean that they would let Heroth go.

It didn’t mean that the Grand Priestess was scared of her, no. In her eyes, it won’t be hard to take out Sheva. But the issue was the aura that she was exuding at this very moment. A familiar aura that could counter the suppression of the court?

Few things in the world were capable of this. One requirement being the truest person to ever live, or if the person was the personification of Justice by nature alone. If one were to consider Sheva’s identity, she was far from it.

Leaving with only one thing, that made the most sense. Her blood.

It was something carrying the essence of Justice, which when mixed with the words she spoke during her awakening before would make much sense.

As for who or what? She didn’t know, but from the little knowledge she had, she could come to a particular church in mind.

And yes, it was definitely church. "Red Sun, you belonged to them... why play this ruse? Are you intending to go to war with us?" The Dusk Knights, ’ bloodline had always remained a mystery along with what their talents were. Those who got to witness it never lived, even if they were innocents who found this secret.

And the Grand Priestess thought of Sheva as such, A Dusk Knight from the Church of Red Sun.
