Chapter 531: 8.10.3 Entrapment.
Obviously a mistake on her end, but something Sheva gladly played along with. "Blame it all on your growing influence." She spoke as if one of the zealots, ignoring the captured Heroth, she acted as if she was a plant all along. Striking the closest Knight to her, who matched her might with his sword without much struggle.
The golden centipede clashed against the dark sword of Knight Bright Leaf, the very man that brought Heroth to the court. Creating sparks followed by a snap, as the sword was broken in half in an instant under the impact.
Startling the surrounding knights who picked up their own weapons intending to join the battle, but Bright Leaf warned them to back off, while his body suddenly started to turn misty, followed by the words. "I feel rejuvenated." Self Delusion, the special skill of Knights of the church of truthful Deceit, also widely knows as Knights of Delusion.
All their lies said about themselves come true to some extent. If they said that they don’t feel injured, their injuries might heal, if they feel they don’t feel tired, they might regain their energy. Even if they said that they can see in darkness, that will end up happening.
Though this ability might seem underwhelming to some, but the true extent of this ability far surpass what one can imagine, and few were aware of the monsters that had lied themselves to be immortal, waiting for their time to be used again.
But such a day won’t come today, because Bright Leaf was enough, his talent as a Knight might not compare to the perverts capable of harnessing Aura, but he alone was enough to deal with the likes of greenhorn like Sheva, who had only recently entered the ranks of Grandmaster. And that weakness he can feel it through his eyes alone.
So there was no need for him to worry about the broken weapon, to the strong among knights, its their body as well as bloodline which are the true threat to the enemies.
So with the first Delusion, Bright leaf turned from a middle-aged man to a Young handsome man without a change in his demeanor. Then he made another lie. "I feel my fight can hold a mountain." And with those words, he punched Sheva, who already being aware of the Knight’s ability braced herself.
If there is one weakness to be spoken about this absurd ability, it would be that the knights still need to speak words before their power becomes active. Making it easier for her to predict what kind of delusion he will bring to reality, but it didn’t mean she could deal with it or react to the absurdity it can carry.
"And it will break your chains." And just like this lie, Sheva was forced to back off from the attack, considering that her chains might break with such a lie.
"Your delusion had nothing to do with me." Or so Bright leaf thought might happen.
In Sheva’s perspective, she could see things that others’ can’t. Even things that the Karma Tarazu, a Holy Relic of the Church can’t compare to. Her eyes can directly look at the Karma of an individual and then punish those that were deemed sinful.
And look at this, the Knight named Bright Leaf carried a dark Karma, meaning that his actions had caused the deaths of countless innocents, whether he did it knowing or not. Meaning that the Chains, which originally would have only possessed the strength of a normal Grand Knight suddenly gained an extra boost when fighting Bright Leaf.
They stabbed directly, crushing Bright Leaf’s arms in an instant, completely nullifying all the lies that he told himself. "I feel fine." He spoke before backing off, healing himself in an instant while showing a surprised expression.
Never did he expect that those chains will be capable of such strength. Nor did he ever expect that his delusion will be broken so easily. Well it does make sense if one thinks hard about it.
She can nullify the suppression in the court, so maybe its something same.
Well whatever the case, if Bright Leaf wished to deal with the issue fast, he needs to borrow some help. "Suppression, nothing more." He spoke to his men, as he along with the remaining men who were not hounding Heroth jumped Sheva, whose chains started to flail around like ribbons. But each touch of these ribbons was breaking the delusion of the Knights who sometimes lit up with fire, or tried to freeze Sheva’s feet.
Each ability born out of delusion and a level of self harm. But Sheva withstood it all.
In a minute, to the horrifying look of some remaining nobles as well as the Knights of Delusion most of the Knights fighting against Sheva were injured. There was a limit to their ability and when facing an absurd enemy that directly broke all their bloodline talents.
"Your feet are bound." Then came the words of Lady Lies, who speak words that caused many nobles to fall to the ground as they found their legs being devoured by the floor they stood on themselves, including Sheva’s feet.
But Unlike the Nobles, with a bit of push an the strikes of her Chains, Sheva jumped out of the floor, turning to look at the woman who was her target all along.
"You finally join?" She asked, holding a smile that looked crazy.
"I had to, considering our opponent is a Chosen." What others might not see, Lady Lies can easily notice.
The opponent was not a simple Dusk Knight, she is like that woman from the Radiant Order, the one who was deemed criminal in Yethel not too long ago and was considered a Renegade until her identity as a Chosen was announced by the Radiant Order along with the fact that she had ascended to the ranks of Grand Knight.
"Chosen, me?" Sheva asked with some embarrassment, before shaking her head. "Well whatever flats your boat my lady." Then she changed her posture turned more aggressive in her fight.
And this time, the Grand Priestess herself did her best to deal with Sheva, but found that the more she tried to deal with her, the stronger Sheva turned. Finally making her frustrated.
But what can be done? The holy wars have been fought for smaller reasons before, and now since the world had turned modern, the way the war has been fought between churches had turned more complicated as well.
And it’s not like the Grand Priestess didn’t know why the Church of Red Sun Target her church.
As unlike other churches who usually keep away from the civilian matters and hold next to zero influence in Cynark’s administration. Where the most they would do is collaborate towards a specific goal.
The church of truthful Deceit had a huge influence in the country through not due to how many people worshiped them, but due to the administrative force they can conjure. And it’s not like there hadn’t been come clashes before due to this, but none that could compare to the danger that Sheva brought to the Court.
"You are making a big mistake... I believe you know what might happen if you spill blood in the court? Your church won’t be able to save you."
"Such words, are you scared of me?" Sheva understood the problems that her actions might cause.
It was true, if she were to be belonged to the Church of Red Sun, and the fact that she attacked the head of another church got out, she would be excommunicated, and in the worst case scenario, hunted by her own church.
But Sheva never belonged to that accursed church where her father stayed, no, she had no faith in any of the gods.
And besides, she would only be exposed in case anyone among these people survived to tell the tale, Which Sheva believes won’t happen, as none would remain alive in a little while.
’Accumulate, get stronger.’
It’s been around six minutes since the swarm of insects shook the Southern District, and some powerful figures were already moving in to deal with the problem. But the sounds haven’t stopped as of yet, the battle still continued on to no end, and from the looks of it, the screams were lowering as time went by.
But what happened outside was of no concern to Sheva. Because once the enemies had thought they were finally gaining an edge against her. She moved like wind.
Weaving through their bodies and then slashing their bodies with the blades she had stolen from them.
Which surprised the rest, as none would have expected her to be capable of such speeds and momentum.
And her target? Bright Leaf who tried to be held on his own lying non-stop to himself gaining strength, though this was a good sign, the girl had walked right into an encirclement. It was the end as all the Knight’s eyes were focused on her at last.
But it was also the moment when everyone’s guard was done.
Which is why they didn’t notice when a small retractable pistol sprang out from her arm and then shot at the Grand Priestess.
