Chapter 505: 8.04.2 Regret it.
Which worked wonders, as they found their target not too long after.
And once he is found, his death is inevitable. Or so the two believed. "I feel something is wrong." The Knight’s instinct warned him that something odd was going on in their opponent.
Although covered in mud, his body exuded a faint smell of blood, while his right eye turned red under an odd kind of awakening. "We have to make a move, now." So the two didn’t dally any further and attacked Rosso with all their might.
The Knight used his Aura Blade infused with his bloodline technique, causing his blade to turn in the hue of blue, while the mage poured down lightening from the sky.
Being awarded the title of Black Lightening, the mage was infamous in her organization for her overbearing firepower that few could survive against. And this lightning that poured down from the sky contained the full firepower she was capable of.
But Rosso just looked at it and said nothing. To him, everything besides the Knight was slow, including the lightning.
"Isolate." He spoke before the attacks fell that rendered the whole ground with craters, including the blade attacks that created claw marks on the ground.
This attack only continued for a second before the Knight backed off, asking in confusion. "How?" he looked at his opponent, still unharmed, still covered in gunk and mud. He still appeared like a hairless buffoon, but there was no mockery in his eyes, only apprehension.
But this a fight with life on the line, no one will ever give their opponents the time to think, which is what Rosso did. One moment he was in front of the Knight, the next moment he appeared next to him casually. And if not for the timely attack of a thunderbolt from the sky, the Knight wouldn’t have even felt when death came to him.
"Beware, this man is using some odd tricks." She said, before losing sense of his existence right in front of her eyes. "What?" She wondered along with the Knight who with his guard up looked around, ready for another attack.
But none such attack came to him, instead there was only a scream. "Why are you crying?" Asked Rosso with his finger inside the Woman’s eyes, which he gently took out and played with while the mage backed off in fear. Still not understanding what was going on.
"RAIN! SAVE ME!" She cried, but Rain who appeared next to her still found no one around her. "This is an illusion, a powerful one." How was his enemy attacking him, he couldn’t ascertain it at a fast rate. Not when their life was on the line. But it didn’t mean he was completely hampered by such an odd method of attack.
With his experience and training, he understood what to do in such a specific situation. With a flip of his finger, a small scroll appeared in his hand. "I will break it." He spoke while activating the magic scroll, but nothing happened, instead, he felt a finger inserted in his stomach. "What was that scroll?" This echo of his voice was the only thing that was left by the time the Knight was able to react to the pain. "This bastard."
It was a scroll that could break the master ranked illusion, and if it was greater, it would generate certain effects to inform the caster that they were in an illusion, but none of such effects appeared, and the scroll turned into ash.
"What is going on? Wasn’t he hiding from us till now?" The mage asked, confused for a bit. Generally, the one to lead the operations is Knight Rain, and her job is mostly as a support, so she was not so involved when learning to deal with such odd matters herself. Which is coming to bite her in the back as she was not able to react as well as the Knight did in this situation.
"I heard his words, he spoke of isolation before our attacks fell on him. A curse, or a spell... the latter of which doesn’t make sense." The opponent was a curse master, that he was sure of. It’s also a well-known fact that curse masters can’t become mages, as most metaphysical forces in the world are mutually exclusive, meaning they don’t meld with each other that well.
Exceptions do exist, and in their mind, one such exception had already happened before when the experts in their organization came to the conclusion that the opponent was capable of mixing Knight techniques with Curse on the side of using a disease. But including a spell? Now that is going too far.
"Isolate? What kind of curse is this?"
"No, we can’t be sure it’s a curse. It should be a relic, a relic of legendary nature." Nothing made sense in her eyes, so she came to her own conclusion to make sense of things, but the Knight was not so sure.
Through their little dialog, the enemy had already poked holes in his body multiple times, while leaving the mage alone.
Holes through which blood still flew out non-stop.
"Curious, you should have died by now. My blood is capable of that. Why are you alive?" Came Rosso’s voice again, and this time, it felt as if these words were directly whispered into Rain’s ears.
"You, I have noticed it... you didn’t use it from the start, it must mean that you can’t handle this state of yours for long, don’t you?" Rain was disturbed by this odd enemy. The feeling of facing an enemy that can play with your life, while you remain incapable of fighting back felt horrible. But after a bit of trial and error, he also came to a simple conclusion. "So all we had to do is defend against you, and you will eventually tire..."
But before his words can end, a finger stabs him in the neck and then moves to tear each and every blood vessel of Rain’s neck as if it were a hot knife going through butter. "You speak too much." With those words, the sword on Rain’s neck fell to the floor, while he hurriedly took out a potion from somewhere once again and tried to pour it in his injury.
"I will take it." But it failed again and the potion disappeared from his hands, followed by the cry of the mage who hurriedly moved to Rain’s side, trying to help him. "You..., you monster." She appeared weak at this moment. The playfulness of before was gone, instead, there was a hint of hatred, which Rosso didn’t understand that well.
"This is the first," he spoke as he stabbed the eyes of the Knight who was trying to hold out his hand for the mage. Stealing from him the gift of sight and making it impossible to see the worried face of the mage, his lover "You were so cruel before..." Rosso spoke again, as a finger stabbed the Mage’s knees, causing her to fall. "Are you guys not professionals?" Rosso was really confused at this moment.
The Knight was not going to die so easily, he was a Master ranked Knight capable of Aura, Rosso could see that he had already sewn his wound shut using his blood and aura as a primer, but the nerves once cut were not so easily healed, and considering how important they are for body control, it was impossible for the Knight to put up a fight even if he used the Aura to puppeteer his body.
As for the little mage?
The only thing Rosso did was Infuse a higher quantity of his blood inside her body, causing her to suddenly blow up bit by bit as small pustules started to form in her body. "So not completely immune, are we?"
Then after being sure that these two were incapable of fighting back, Rosso’s body rematerialized into reality, though he appeared "fainter" than before. His steps were a bit wobbly as he walked. But this was the result of using that accursed power only for two minutes at most. In those two minutes, he took out a group of annoying enemies and also learned a bit about their capabilities.
"You, you won’t survive." Spoke to Rain after his neck was partially recovered. But Rosso just ignored him and went to the girl. "You, stop." Although blind, he can still the state of the mage.
Bloated under the infected blood, she seemed in a state much worse than Rain, who was still capable of speaking a few words. "You are not professionals... there is a reason why people ban interpersonal relationships in jobs like this." Rosso spoke as he touched a piece of the mage’s skin, causing small blood flowers to blossom throwing puss and blood in the air, along with the screams of the mage.
"You BASTARD! STOP!!"
"Her physique is weaker than you. Whatever method to obtain your immunity, has its own limit. You are still weak." With those words, Rosso’s fingers brushed past the remaining eye of the girl, which also burst into puss. Causing more cursing to be thrown his way from Rain.
"I won’t stop, I want you to regret it for pushing me this far, regret ever coming to ruin my peace, regret ever bringing your lover with you... you should regret ever receiving this contract."
"Though if you fear I wish to end her life, don’t bother. I am not cruel like you lot. I kill out of necessity, and her death gives me no advantage in the current situation." Rain listened to each of the words, he saw all the actions of Rosso using his Aura as the medium, including the pain he inflicted on the mage. And this is why he understood how defenseless they were against this monster.
"Then let her go... She knows nothing generally."
"I said I won’t kill her, I never said anything about letting her go." Rosso appeared a bit offended by Rain’s words. "But I see your misunderstanding, don’t worry, anything will have false hope in this situation."
Rosso nodded in some pity before explaining. "What I meant to say before... I am not going to kill her but torture her until you speak. I don’t care if you are under any sort of binding contract or not... well you are an Aura user, they won’t ruin your future by using something like that on you. Which is why I have high hopes for your answers."
"And don’t worry, take as much time as you want, I can keep her alive for days... and considering you guys had made sure no one arrived it his place for a long time, there is no need to hurry."
