Chapter 504: 8.04.1 You should have run.

"NOO" They ran for the cover, they ran to hide from the might of heaven, but nothing could save them.

The thunder that fell ignored all buildings, and all kinds of defenses and burned the mortals in a single strike.

As for those with apprentice or Adept level strength, their death was slower, but it came to them all the same.

The plantation was turned into a graveyard, there was little to no life left besides the scorching remains or the pitiful serfs and their masters.

Even the one at the head of the plantation had only his head intact, as the rest was already burned until the shower of lightning.

Devastation was all that was left in the area. "You always go a bit overboard." The Knight spoke looking at the burnt corpses before complaining to his mage partner who just had a "Dunno" expression before saying. "Our target, he should be among them playing dead."

With their information on their target, they understood that the one they were after couldn’t die so easily. He was strong, strong enough for the two of them to be sent here together. "Don’t you worry, he won’t be hiding for a long time." The Knight spoke, as simple water swords materialized in the air.

And this time the amount of swords had far exceeded the capacity of what he was originally capable of, which can be attributed to the lady in the air. As her little action of summoning the clouds in the air had caused a high increase in humidity in the environment, which in turn boosted the strength of her companion.

"Go." He spoke as the water swords flew into the air, stabbing each and every corpse in his visibility once again. And still no response. "Are you sure he is here?" He asked his companion, who only nodded after a bit of contemplation. "The compass points to this place, and rarely does it point to a wrong direction."

"Hah, the lady might have made a mistake this time. Or was our target really a fool who underestimated us and died during the first volley of attacks."

"Like the time with the Sircons?"

"That old fool, I still remember his stupid face before his death. So arrogant." The two took their guard down and treated the whole event as completed. And why shouldn’t they be? There were no spiritual, elemental, or even vitality fluctuations. Even if their enemy remained acting dead, he might as well die if he doesn’t use his transcendent strength to fix his body.

"Rain, how about doing the waterfall? Even if he is not dead, that will ensure that he won’t ever get up again."

"That, or I just decapitate each and every one of these people? It would be more efficient." With those words said, the body of the Knight named Rain moved in a flash, going from one body to the other and decapitating all the burnt corpses that he came across, leaving none spared. "Like Master, like a servant." He spoke in a funny tone.

Which his companion can only shake her head at. "I wanted to do the Waterfall, it’s so rare to get an opportunity like this."

"You, you do know how tired I get after it? Do you seriously want to pull this here? On these dead people? I decapitated them and that’s enough."

"Hey, you got to do what you love, I also want to do what I love, can’t you just listen to me once?" The Woman spoke showing a pitiful side of hers, making the face of the Knight drop down in some frustration. "Hell, you win." There was not enough time for them anyway, the family behind this plantation the Hamza’s will be coming here soon enough, so they can’t dally any longer than needed.

"It’s your wish." Under his agreement, the woman helped the Knight reach her level through a simple flight spell before holding his hand. "Let’s do it."

And so began their little spell called Waterfall. A spell made with a mixture of Knight’s bloodline and magic. A fusion attack of sorts that these two were famous for, but only among their colleagues, as they didn’t exist on paper in any capacity. "I always feel so tired after this." He spoke with a complaint as the Rain started to pour down drop by drop.

Each drop of which caused the ground to sing and caused the burnt bodies to collapse.

"What a beauty." She spoke, watching the carnage from a distance as each drop containing the weight of hundreds of kilometers turned the whole land riddled with scars. But in a way, it also removed all the works of the Knight in the process.

"I don’t know why you don’t like this."

She complained, but her fellow Knight didn’t speak a word, just looking at the effort he put into going down in drains. In this specific case, it literally went down the drains as the heavy water droplets put out a kind of purge, destroying virtually everything, as if it was some acid.

"Enough, let’s go back. The reinforcements should be arriving here soon enough." The Knight named Rain spoke and the mage agreed. Taking her friend away from the scene as soon as she was satisfied with her work.

And it was only with their departure that the rain stopped.

Leaving in its wake, nothing. The buildings, the machines, the vehicles, even the walls, none of them remained anymore. Everything had returned to the mud.

Mud from which a hand burst forth. "What a bunch of comedians." there was some frustration on Rosso’s face at being found out. "I need to change how I operate." Complained Rosso, feeling a bit defeated.

His greatest assurance while going wild in this world was his Left eye. It protected him from virtually everything till now, including the multiple churches that have tried their hands at him. But today, his dependency on his own eye led to a major mistake.

He was found out by a bunch of strong bastards who came for his life.

"I need to leave." Naked and hairless, the current look of Rosso made him appear as an ascetic monk who fell into a bunch. But that’s what happens when the heavy water from the rainwater spell flows into the earth. Most of his body hair and clothes were also washed away into the waterfall, leaving him completely hairless and naked.

But it was good, this was the best case of scenario for him. Well for now at least.

"As I thought, our target was really hiding underground." Came the sound of the Mage, who appeared proud over her discovery.

As for the Knight, he acted as if this didn’t phase him a lot. It’s as if he knew this from the start as well. "Even I knew something was wrong, but now I am tired, who is going to fight him now? I said before that using that spell will only bring us trouble."

The Two started to fight again, showing that the bickering part of them was not a lie, even if they were capable of some level of subterfuge against their enemy.

Which finally made Rosso in question. "You two, you are tired, and I am not."

"But you are two, and I am one, I can’t say that I can take you two down easily, but what I can assure you is that I will do my best to waste your time. A time in which the friends from Hamza might arrive." It was a reasonable warning. None wanted to be found out, which can be seen from how they annihilated the whole plantation I am singular day.

"Further conflict will only be detrimental for both of us. So how about we back off?" In truth, killing these two is easy. But that will make him use means that he was not ready to show off so early.

The prior means although reaching the grandmaster level, was only good for the weaker individuals and his opponents might know it, hence they only sent these two after him. Two masters that might appear Master ranked, but their strength rivaled some Grandmasters.

Specifically the Knight, ’An aura master.’ Rosso remembers his Creator’s words.

All those who master Aura before entering Grandmaster have the potential for Legendary. Such a man can’t be partnered with just anyone, meaning that the girl is not normal as well. ’I would need to use thirty percent... it will be too much, they will be guarded.’

So he wished to end it right here, there is no need to get too far with these people, specifically when he can’t ascertain how they tracked him.

But sadly, his words fell on deaf ears. "No shame at all, see, he is still not treating us seriously." The Knight spoke, shaking his head with some annoyance. While the girl said in a kinder tone. "He just might be mistaken, he still thinks anyone come for help."

"Oh yes, the guy might still think there is reinforcement."

"..." Rosso knew at this point, the dialog was unnecessary. "I warned you."

*****

The two of them had never treated this assassination with any seriousness. Their opponent was said to have the strength of a grandmaster, a Curse master to be exact.

And as it’s the case most curse masters are weak physically and rarely fight at the forefront unless they have some annoying curses at hand. Which to the two of them was virtually nothing.

With their background, they were covered in Curse-deflecting items, so killing the opponent was never an issue for them. What was a problem was pinpointing his location, which they did under the order of their master and his friend.
