Chapter 503: 8.03.6 The intruders.

With the communications ending, Rosso returned to his normal life.

The same old digging the dirty and opening up the roots, or reinvigorating the land with manure. And when the land was currently during the growth cycle, the work shifted to focus more on packaging stuff that had been brought to the farm.

An illegal farm one might add.

Although the Hamza Family of the Potions owned the farm as well as its operations, their closest partners were still the Chalseem family. The Chalseem family’s main business was in transportation, they brought foreign goods and sold them in the city, and vice versa. Their networks spread far wide apart in the country of Cynark, as well as their control.

Which makes them a kind of necessary evil. Even when exposed to slavery allegations, nothing much can be done to them due to the important part they played in the country. Which gave them the arrogance to operate a farm of such nature so close to the city.

"Remember, the boss can come and check your batch at any moment, so don’t make a mistake while packaging the product." The product in question was a white powder of a highly addictive nature, usually used by nobles or people in the entertainment district. Carefully cultivated by the Hamza’s, they had even made variants that can help Knights to get high if they wanted.

Its name? Blissful Sugar is one of the processed narcotics that has been famous recently in the capital. And there is no law that considers this illegal.

However what is illegal is if any of the packagers were to snort some of the products himself, which might put a dent in the profits even if it’s by a few Dirium. So there had been a need to keep constant vigilance over these farming serfs.

And Rosso was one of these men, forced to wear a mask with barely enough space to breathe, he did as he was told, carefully measuring each portion before packaging it without a single pause. "I prefer the fields," Rosso complained, causing a few eyes to move his way, but no one said a thing.

Yes, the sun can be harsh on them, but at least they can breathe in the open properly. Here, they have to develop an entirely new method of breathing just to adapt to the tight mask bound to their face. ’Hoping this comes to an end soon enough.’ Rosso had such thoughts when his left eye flicked on its own for a bit. "Hmm?"

It was an oddity, someone tried to look at him just now, but his left eye fought it off easily. ’They are still looking.’ Rosso thought. Treating this as nothing more than a small incident.

And it was as on the second day, he received another commission. "The Diavolos family then?" A small family of nobles not on the level of the major four that ruled the Eastern District.

Their focus was virtually nothing in the capital at least, but they held a huge property in the State of Ghorum that was sticking close to the city of Rudrain. Some even considered Diavolos the local tyrant of the state, but the existence of other noble family branches had caused their existence in Ghorum to weaken recently.

"The small empty mansion in the capital. There is virtually no one besides a few caretakers..." Rosso didn’t understand why he was given the job of creating chaos in this place, but he did as was told and created a bloodbath by severing the necks of each individual in the mansion, from butler to maids to the mortal guards. This time, his methods were a bit more traditional, doing the job with his own hands, before wiping any of his traces from the world. "Oh, a mark?" And he noticed it.

By going in personally he had been marked by some hidden magic, if not for his Right eye that could see into the true nature of things, this Mark would have led to his death. Or at least some problems. "Begone." He spoke causing his left eye to turn lustrous for a bit, burning off the mark away and freeing him from the tracking spell that was put on him.

"Another done," he spoke, happily informing the contact and requesting the name of the next target. However, the answer he got in response was somewhat disappointing. "The city is shaken, calm down for now, acting at this moment might expose you."

The constant raids and weird deaths had attracted loads of unwanted attention. This was not uncontrolled chaos caused by a mindless cult, but coordinated attacks which some might have started to take notice off. ’Don’t be a fool." And Rosso also calmed himself down, going back to his little job as a slave. He lived his life without worry for another day.

"Again?" And then he felt in again, this time, the flutter in his eyes felt a bit weird, but he didn’t treat it seriously. To him, nothing would phase him as long as his left eye was there to help him.

Or so he had believed.

The next day, things were going as usual. With no processed product at hand, Rosso was currently on weeding duty, and he did his job without complaint like always, which his owner liked a lot.

There were few as capable as Rosso who never made a mistake. Generally, most slaves that were sent here were of lower birth as well as skill, they regularly made mistakes, and it took a lot of practice as well as punishment before they learned the craft properly.

And in case they don’t, they would generally be sent to the Hamza family for their potion-making. Such was the fate of low-skilled slaves, making it so that only the talented ones survived in this place.

As for the highly talented like Rosso? Nothing much will change, he will never earn his right to live as a free man or reach the level of other enforcers that oversaw that the slaves were working properly.

No matter how much Rosso was appreciated for his hard work, he would forever remain a slave. That’s how the system in this world worked.

"Such a disgusting place, letting these bastards operate so close to the capital. The Royals are getting spineless with time."

"Saying such words about our Master’s family, do you wish to live longer? If you do, shut up." The bickering sounded out in the ears of everyone on the farm, from the enforcers to the slaves. Including Rosso’s master who looked into the sky to find what appeared to be a Knight standing next to a Mage.

"Hmm??"

The Master of this farm appeared normal on the surface but was a Master Rank individual himself. Looking at his men and gesturing them to go back to work, he spoke in a loud voice. "This is the Hamza Property, state your business or face the punishment for intruding upon our land." Said the Master in a strong voice, which brought some assurance to his men as well as slaves.

The ability to fly was not that odd in the eyes of Noble families. Most Master Mages were capable of this feat. Including some Adept mages if their path was focused enough. As for the man next to the mage, it was easy to see that he was only standing in the air under the support of his mage companion. Meaning they were opponents he could face.

And if he can’t, he can still save his own life if he wants. Not to mention, the moment they appeared in the air, a message had already been sent to the main house, and help should be arriving in a while.

So till then, he needs to hold these people back if they are enemies, and if not, he still needs to retain them and ask for their identity and why they intrude upon the land of the Hamza family.

But the two in the sky held no such request, they gave the owner of this farm a deep look. "A fool that doesn’t even understand how serious things are." The man said, before turning to the lady. "My love, let him know why we are here for..." Following those words the woman smiled and lifted her staff in the air.

"You fools." The owner spoke as countless bullets were fired at the two intruders, none of which were ever able to penetrate the shields.

That was until the owner fired his own girl, who easily broke open the shield and it would have hit the mage if not for the timely arrival of a sword. "So just one." Spoke the knight dropping from the sky and directly in front of the owner. "Such a loose security, no wonder someone sneaked in so easily." He spoke without a hint of hiding why he was here.

And his words did tell them what the issue here was. "Someone sneaked in?"

"You don’t have to think too much, your death is inevitable either way, no one that has seen us has ever survived." The man spoke as he rushed toward the Owner, who knowing that things were serious, also took out a Blade from its sheath and tried to hold the intruder back.

But that might have been a big mistake on his part, as the moment the two blades connected, a light aura escaped the intruder’s blade moved past the defenses of the owner, and chopped his neck in a single swing. "One done." The intruder spoke before large clouds gathered in the sky and started to rain down thunder on all those who were still reeling in from the shock of their Owner’s death.
