Chapter 472: 7.21.4 Old friend.

What was this monstrous thing in front of him?

A being of flesh and bones, that appeared like a tall human, but the countless eyes on its fleshy body and a giant mouth where the face should remind Amir of the legendary Pishacha, a demon from hell famous for being attributed to cannibalism.

No, this thing was much more horrific than the depictions in the religious text, this monster, this thing was far from what his mind could ever conceive. A being of pure carnage, as the countless tentacles on the being’s body, suddenly rushed toward Amir, intending to end him in an instant.

"What are you doing?" Amir asked, taking out the blade while he covered himself in the blood armor and then a gauntlet with talons at the end on the other hand. This was his most optimized battle form that could endure non-stop attacks from an enemy, and he really believed that with his current defenses, he would easily be able to defend himself against his opponent when the backup arrived.

A backup just a few meters away from him.

So all Amir had to do was defend against this single attack and he will be fine.

Sadly, Amir never would have expected the power contained in that single attack of Amir’s.

*Boom

The earth trembled and Amir felt the blade that he held dear all this time fracture into pieces while his body was thrown into the air, breaking countless walls and as well as his own body along the way.

"WHAT?" Surprised, no, he was horrified.

For the first time in his life, he felt such strength.

For the first time in his life, he had experienced such an overpowering defeat in a single exchange.

"No... not possible." He tried to stand up, to get away from the next attack of Farhad, but his body fell back down. ’?? It was only then did he noticed that his legs were twisted in an odd way just like his two arms that faced the brunt of the attack, he could barely move them anymore.

’No... this can’t end like this.’ He looked at the monster that walked with slow steps towards him. A monster with no skin that looked far from anything natural. It was harder for him to think this was the same guy who appeared so simple not too long ago. ’Hunger!’ It was also now that he understood why he had felt fear when he saw Farhad in the camp before.

’Farhad Maisel... just what did you experience to become like this.’ Why he was being attacked, he didn’t know. He didn’t even know if this was truly Farhad or not. No, none of that mattered at this point.

The moment Farhad made his following attack, with the sound of a swing, his body turned into pieces falling to the ground. "Just where did this monster come from?" An old voice that Amir had become used to.

A man who he considered lazy had just saved him.

Putting the battle blade back into his jacket, General Vera looked around before finding the body of Amir in the rubble. "God bless that you are fine," he said, rushing toward Amir and then feeding him some healing drugs as fast as he could, Which finally brought Amir back from the brink of death.

"*Cough... " Coughing some rotten blood out of his body, Amir fell to the ground for a bit. "Don’t rush, he has been taken care of." General Vera spoke words that might have sounded odd to certain someone, but now that certain someone was just a piece of flesh fallen around the scene.

"Genera... *Cough... I thank you for your timely rescue." Amir was truly glad about this. Because never in a million years had he ever considered that the strength of his opponent would be so strong.

Mind you, Amir was someone infinitely close to Grandmaster rank and his strength already rivaled contemporary Grandmasters that exist in the world, it’s only freaks like General Vera that would be able to handle him if the need arises.

But Amir knew, that even General Vera won’t be able to harm him so much in a singular attack. ’Then how did he?’ He looked at General Vera, who didn’t think anything was wrong at the moment.

"There is no need to thank at this time, just take a rest, I will get your answer later... as for that." General Vera looked at the sizzling corpse that had been exposed to the sun after being cut apart. "It seems to be a powerful variant of ghoul, it’s better to completely get rid of it before anything happens." Although General Vera spoke those words, his first priority was to bring Amir to a safe safety.

And he needed to act fast, as the smoking mound of flesh suddenly got covered in dark smoke, shielding the appearance of what was going below.

"We have to move." General Vera, not intending to take any chance, planned to run away.

A choice he made a bit slow, as countless tentacles covered in black smoke burst out of the fleshy mound and attacked him. "Back off!" He said while waving his hand in the direction of the tentacles. Among these some of them did burst apart and spread into the area, causing the smoke to spread in a large area. But one of the tentacles seemed to have endured the attack and suddenly lunged at Amir after a small pause.

"This bastard" General Vera was not so weak though, if the little bit of force didn’t work, then he would use his own body to defend against this shameless attack.

Which did work for a few seconds.

"This... this is not smoke!" Thinking that the tentacle wouldn’t be able to harm him, he grabbed it by the hand, a big mistake on his part, as he felt a burning flame that almost caused him to scream.

"It’s eating my flesh!" Feeling the oddity, another hand grew out of General Vera’s back, which took out of the blade in his pocket and then cleanly cut off the infected part of General Vera’s palm, causing countless bones to be exposed in General’s hand. But instead of crying in pain, he was in relief.

"Ju... just what is this." There was a hint of fear on General Vera’s face as he looked at the dark flames. This is the first time he has felt such pain, a pain that he felt in his soul.

"We have to run," Amir spoke, still finding this whole situation absurd.

’Just how strong is Farhad?’

"You are right, we have to leave... but." General Vera paused... there were still many soldiers who had fallen into sleep in the camp, and not many have been moved till now. Not to mention the men that came along with him.

"Prince Amir, it’s better if you can run away on your own. I will hold this thing back."

"I... Understand." There was no time for discussion, nor can he be selfish at this moment.

With power comes responsibility. And General Vera’s current responsibility was saving Prince Amir along with his men. "Help them evacuate." As General Vera spoke such words, Amir’s broken blood armor recovered at a faster pace, before it started to open up and take its original form.

Which was the wings on the back of Amir.

Although he had lost feeling in his legs and his arms were broken after the impact, the body could still move with these wings.

"Don’t worry, I will make sure they are safe." With those words, Amir flew toward the soldiers and then ordered them to accelerate the evacuation process, while General Vera who seemed to have turned into a war god, fought with the amalgamation of flesh that Farhad had turned into.

But before any true difference can be made. Multiple mouths opened up in the melted flesh of Farhad, who then cried "FOOL" Loudly into the air, almost causing countless low-level soldiers to lose consciousness.

"This bastard... where did you come from?" General Vera spoke as his body turned Golden while from his back multiple golden hands started to take shape one by one.

Each one holding a different weapon then the rest. "You little piece of shit... I will let you experience why I got the name Martial God VERA!!"

*****

While the war was happening between General Vera and his Farhad, Amir tried to look for a way to escape.

Back in the camp, where everyone was sleeping, a singular man opened his eyes. "What is going on?" He wondered while looking around the area. "Why is everyone sleeping?" He thought, before finding that there was a single coin in his hand. "??" A coin he knows very well because it was the coin he used to use to buy some fried fish outside his old school.

And also the old coin which he once used as a weapon due to the bloodline he held.

"? How did this get here?" He looked at the coin, remembering the sad past where everything he built toward went to waste. A past where countless people lost their lives because of his selfish designs. And it brought nothing but misery to everyone involved.

Including a couple of friends whose life was ruined because of his involvement.

"Henry..." A foolish boy but a good friend. "Why did things become like this." Dropping the coin to the ground, he got up and started to look around.

It’s time for him to find some answers as well as help.
