Chapter 471: 7.21.2 Time to die!
"A cruel thing like you can cry? That’s a first." Amir said, poking the crying little dwarf with his arm before shaking his head. "I don’t think there is an end game here. You said it yourself, he uses sacrifices to cast hexes, but he can’t touch us at all unless he gives up this little dwarf."
"It’s a stalemate I guess." Farhad thought, finding that nothing really did happen. Which was the oddest thing of all. He can’t help but wonder that things can’t go so easy for him. This is Jester we are talking about. He is not someone that goes in recklessly and flaunts his strength for all to see.
But the results were right in front of him. They were really at a Stalemate.
"No, not a stalemate, it’s our win." Amir lifted the item that had fallen next to Crow, looking at it with some curiosity and wonder. "Seems like an item from Mage Institute." He had seen it before during the noble gathering not so long ago.
Though not all, some of the mages carried a similar stone talisman on their robes. Which he originally treated as nothing more than a traditional way of depicting the individual’s rank in the Institute.
But now, he had some other thoughts.
"You are sharp," Farhad said, walking close to him as he looked at the fallen Crow. "Although it’s a distant memory, I remember hearing that those talismans are the only way to enter or exit the shield that protects the institute during times of crisis. The rest, you can imagine."
’No wonder.’ Considering that war was on the corner, it was no wonder that some mages wore the talisman during the gathering.
"He intends to use it to enter the Institute?..." Amir thought before looking toward the crying young man. Who seemed to have opened his eyes at a point and was looking around. "Don’t worry, I am not interested in what your plan originally was as I can imagine it to some extent... so I will talk about something else considering you have come to your senses."
"You. What do you want? Want?" Crow spoke in an injured tone while lacking any energy.
"Break this hex." Said Amir. "Wake my men up... or not..." As Amir said those words, he grabbed Crow’s leg and then dragged him out of the prison with Farhad following him. "What... Where are you taking me?" Cried Crow, but no one said a thing.
That was until he came to the surface of the camp and found a few individuals standing in front of him.
"General Vera, you came a bit late." Prince Amir spoke, showing some disappointment.
But General Vera just smiled. "Considering the scene here, it seems that my being here was a waste, to begin with, you dealt with the problems on your own." Currently in the Camp, there were a couple of Knights as well as Mages that were checking on the fainted Soldier, before sighing in relief that they were just sleeping at most.
"A grand hex was cast here." One of the Mages explained, before requesting the help of an occult mage or an Exorcist. But General Vera cared for none of that, he just turned to look at Farhad and then the broken body of Crow below.
"I presume this was the perpetrator? Was he alone?" He asked, looking toward Farhad who was in a broken and burned soldier uniform, which when added to the fact that the clothes he wore barely fit his body, it was easy to see what the issue here was.
But he didn’t speak much, only sent a curious gaze toward Farhad, whose face turned even more confused for a bit.
"Yes, he is alone. But don’t look down on him, he is the one that took out Lucius, with his next target being me." Again Ludwig’s little plan was somewhat of a success, Amir really played along with the game and then blamed the attack as a kind of assassination on him.
But Amir made up his mind to give his precious cousin a beating once he is out of scrutiny and can come back to the battlefield, which won’t be long considering there was a war going on and Cynark can use all the help they can get.
Or so the reasoning will be used on the lawyer’s side of things as they try to protect their client in any way possible.
But who knows how the proceedings get going when the royals are involved?
"A killer of such caliber is hard to find, seems like Yethel paid their due to hire someone so capable... sadly he met you." General Vera spoke for a bit, before asking. "But no matter how strong he might be, he is still a Knight and someone used a Grand Hex in this place, there might be others in here, so it’s better if the Prince doesn’t lower his guard."
"About that General, we have to talk about the one that use this Hex, he is still here..." General Vera was not ignorant of the existence of Jester, what he was surprised by was the fact that Jester was currently watching him, and he couldn’t do a thing about it.
But Farhad remained silent all this time, he looked at the soldiers working, who sent him some curious glances from time to time, and then he saw the bodies that were sleeping soundly. ’This..."
Something odd was going on and the main reason why he thought as such was the leader of these men.
"The rat that Mage Black Sun hated, I have heard of his deeds... "Before he turned to look around for any signs of birds or rats, then he turned to look at Farhad once more. "But from what I know, he can’t even get out in the sun, nor can he see on his own, he needs people or eyes and from what I can tell, there are none of those critters around."
"So suffice to say, he is not here anymore."
"What about this one?" Amir said, kicking Crow in the stomach, causing him to cringe in pain once again. "Hi, I will run some tests and make sure that something weird is not attached to him before I bring him to the Barracks... Can’t just take any chances."
Hearing General Vera’s words, Amir couldn’t help but make a comment. "It’s better to keep him away from the Barracks, it’s safer to keep him elsewhere... who knows if you bringing him to the barracks is his plan all along." Hearing those words, Amir’s eyes turned widened. "You seem a bit paranoid." Before he nodded. "And it’s that kind of Paranoia that will work with the kind of opponent we are facing."
"Ho, this boy seems used to the tactics of the Rat king... I wonder who you are and what regiment you belong to?" General Vera asked a question that he had been keeping to himself for a long time.
But all that question did was make the face of Farhad turn sour for a bit. "Farhad Maisel, son of Varkus Maisel. I came here with Priest Boman and Knight of Radiance, but got lost after the fight in the caves." Farhad Calmly explains his situation, causing General Vera’s eyes to light up. "Ho, you are the young man mentioned in the report... I am glad you are safe... well somewhat safe." General Vera laughed a bit seeing Farhad’s clothes.
He could already guess why he wore those clothes at this point. Before he said. "You don’t know boy, since you left, a small fight had broken out between Church of Dawn and the Radiant Knights. But with you being safe, I hope those two can fix their differences."
General Vera laughed a bit before informing the headquarters that Farhad had been found. Which seemed to be going on course as things should be.
While Amir on the side appeared a bit surprised, looking at Amir with a different light. ’He is that man’s son?’ Farhad, he recalls of this boy.
A boy considered dead with a father who was at the center of Durum Dream Tragedy.
And the boy whose sister met with Hemant when he went on the mission to uncover the truth about Jester on his own.
Which obviously led to some new accidents, but that was all for alteration. ’He was alive all along?’
Ignoring the storm that was happening in Amir’s mind, Farhad on the other hand turned completely mute after General Vera’s words. He just looked around for a bit, looking at things without ever giving away his intentions.
"For now, the two of you should rest, things have been a bit hectic and there is an Archmage on the way with an exorcist... once they are here, I will be leaving the matters to them." General Vera spoke these words to both of them.
Due to the involvement of Jester, he can’t just trust the two, even if there is a Prince involved. So unless the exorcist or mystic comes to confirm their state, he can’t bring Prince Amir back to the barracks.
But protecting the Royal was also part of his duty, so until they came, he chose to remain here.
And it was due to this free time, that Amir who had just learned of Farhad’s identity went to him for a bit and said, "The world thinks you are dead..." He tried to speak some words but found that Farhad was already lost in his own world with his eyes closed.
He found it odd at first, and thinking that something bad had happened, he tried to close in on Farhad but found the air around Farhad started to turn hot and the closer he got, the hotter the air became.
"You...?" Amir wonders what happened at this point? Was this an attack of Jester?
No, no it was not.
"We have really been fooled," Farhad spoke after opening his eyes and then looking around the area.
"Fooled? What do you mean?"
"There is no time to explain... and I am sorry for doing this." Amir still remains confused, wondering what he meant.
But before he can think any further, Farhad right in front of his eyes turned into an amalgam of flesh and bones.
He turned into a skinless monster whose appearance alone shook Amir to the core. "DON" T WORRY... YOUR DEATH WILL BE INSTANT!"
