Chapter 444: 7.14.4 Time to get rid of him.

"Did a grandmaster break through here?" By the time the backup had arrived, nothing was left in the scene, besides a bunch of ghouls that seemed to be attracted here with the smell of death. But as not much time had gone by, the backup finished them up and built up defenses before more of the ghouls were attracted to the scene.

Which is what made the expression of the leader even more confusing. The ghouls were not here for so long, so how did this all happen?

Looking around the camp, brutally crushed corpses were spread all around the place, some so badly mangled, that it was harder to even think if this was the work of the humans or some beast.

Humans at least killed their enemies cleanly, and depending on the current circumstances, a normal person would have done the job and rushed away as fast as possible. But all the signs showed that the perpetrator seemed to have enjoyed the massacre.

The faces that remained unharmed told the tale of immense misery and fear.

"Inform the headquarters, that a Potential Grandmaster might have entered our border and might be looking to cause chaos." He ordered his men, holding in his disgust.

"Captain, can’t it be the work of a group?" On the side, his second in command asked. Because in his eyes, no grandmaster would lower himself to do such things. Instead, he believes that it might be a grandmaster who led the operation, followed by multiple others, who might have done such a cruel thing.

But the Captain of the platoon just shook his head while pointing toward what seemed to be an Adept-level Knight with a broken sniper next to his corpse. "He was ripped apart alive."

However, before he could explain further, a sound came. "Sir, there is a survivor." At those words, the ears of the captain perked up, looking in the direction of a corpse pile, then below, he noticed the figure of what seemed to be a woman in the Elite Uniform that depicted her rank as that of a Master.

"??" Finally some answers to his question, there was finally someone who could explain what happened here. So he rushed toward the woman who seemed to be receiving treatment from the soldiers, but she didn’t speak a word, nor did the soldiers, they just looked a bit speechless while doing their work.

And the captain of the platoon also understood why this was, by the time he reached there.

"Monster." Her eyes were slit apart, there were only stumps left at the end of her arm and even her nose as well as mouth seemed to have bled. "Tortured?" No, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

"A monster... a cruel monster had entered our land." This kind of brutality was unheard of even on the battlefield. "Inform the state of things here to the headquarters, one by one." While he was making such an order, something lit up in the sky.

"??" It would seem to be a flair, a bright flair that should be visible from miles away.

But this flair was not alone, one by one, similar flairs lit up all over the border one by one. Causing mass hysteria among the soldiers. "Silence." the captain ordered, before with a single step, he flew over the scene and arrived at the place where the flairs were launched from. "No one here?"

This was a dangerous move on his end, he might be Master Ranked Knight, but considering the massacre before, there was a high chance this move of his might have cost him his life. But to learn what was going on, he had to do this.

"The minefield?" Of course, it didn’t take long for him to notice an oddity here.

Right next to the object that shot the flair-up, there was a minefield. "No." With a kick, he jumped over multiple kilometers in a matter of minutes, before arriving at another one of the flair points. "A minefield again." he thought, finding some other Master Rank Officers looking over the situation. "Did you notice something the same on your end?"

The two nodded, before giving the order to their own men to inform the headquarters about what was going in on the border.

As for the captain of the Support platoon, he rushed towards his men before asking all of them to evacuate the area. "Something bad is going to happen, so back off, there will be Grandmasters coming here soon enough."

The enemy knew the location of their minefields, and considering how easy it was to change the places of the mine, if their enemies were to attack, it would be soon.

And they were right, after witnessing the flairs, the army of Yethel had already dispatched scores of their vehicles under the protection of multiple grandmasters towards the border.

But that was not all.

"Madam, the experts at the Tower are against using their creation for war. Some have even put out their resignation in the face of your decisions."

"Do they really think I funded their research for no reason? I had explained to them before what I intended to do with their creation, they shouldn’t cry about it anymore when all I am doing is what I was meant to." Orvillia looked over the report that Gangu gave her while smiling from eye to eye.

She didn’t care about what those greedy bunches who didn’t even dare to take part in the war wanted. All she cared for was her revenge.

An act of revenge that was 20 years into the making.

Many have thought that Yethel had been fighting with their all in the last twenty years. They were barely able to maintain their sovereignty as Cynark never considered them a true threat when compared to the countries of Sumire and Langfurt.

But the truth is not always as one might think on the surface.

What Yethel had been doing all this time is accumulating strength which they will burst out all at once tonight.

The missiles that had been used had been in development for the last twenty years, and it was only until recently, under the insight of Vegal Lugren that their creation finally took form, making all that accumulation of years long finally shine.

Of course, their main purpose was never to cause any actual harm to the enemies, as, after the first time, their enemies would obviously develop some countermeasures against them. Instead, the Missiles acted more as a deterrent, as well as cover for the action killer, moves that had been hiding in the dark all this time.

The creation of Tower of Storm was one of them... no, it was an even older research subject built for one purpose alone. Controlling the sky itself.

The goal of Tower of Storm was no secret, they were the bunch that wished to control and modify their environment and hence researched spells and formations capable of just that. With the primary goal of theirs to control the very sky itself.

"You can have rain when you want or cold when you want." Even for a Mage of Legendary Caliber, the more they can do is affect a city through the mixture of their domains as well as spells. But the machine they created was capable of much more space than just a city.

"This is the time of war. Tell them, if they don’t want to keep working in the Tower, they will be sent to the frontline." On the other hand, considering the project was out of the trial phase, there was no need for active development on it anymore.

So instead of letting these mages cry about their creation used for killing, it’s better to use them on the battlefield, if they would act so moody.

"Yes, madam." With those words, Gangu left, and a figure suddenly materialized in front of Orvillia’s seat. "Lord emotion, I had thought you would be overlooking the battlefield."

"Well I am, I am enjoying the scenery a lot and can’t wait for your little toy to show its might.’ The man spoke with a big smile on his face while taking a small parcel wrapped in banana leaves. "Would you have some?" he asked Orvillia who after some thought, nodded. "I don’t mind." This might be the last peaceful meal she would have, so Orvillia accepted it gleefully from the hands of Lord Emotion, who conjured up another one of the food parcels which held some roasted spiced-up fish and rice.

"Lord, if you are here, then something happened I presume?" Orvillia asked, enjoying the food of mortals with not much emotion on her face. What she held interest in was why this man would come here at this time.

"Well, something did..." Enjoying his food, Lord Emotion continued. " I wonder if you know, but the little rat had rushed through the border."

Hearing such words, Orvillia was not much surprised, she never understood what was going on in that head of his, nor did she want to. All she cared about was him completing his duties and would give him full freedom for the remainder of the time.

"I understand, this might not seem noteworthy to you." Lord’s emotion spoke. "But what if I told you, he created a rift in reality with the realm of dreams?" This was long before Jester’s massacre in the enemy camp, long before he started setting up flairs to expose minefield locations.

Lord Emotion was talking about when Jester had saved his team from their demise by the attack of Mage Black Sun. "He is growing too fast, and if I don’t get it wrong. The time to get rid of him is getting closer."
