Chapter 443: 7.14.3 An eye for an eye.

Surprised as well as horrified, that was the look I was looking forward to.

Like an injured east, the mage backed off while trying to stuff his intestine back in his body, while the Knight, who was taking it easy till now suddenly activated her bloodline, turning into mist, and slashing at my throat.

With a clang, her strike was deflected easily by me, but the most I could protect was my neck, the rest of the body still ended up gaining multiple slash marks, which bled profusely. "Wonderful," I say to the woman who had turned into a mist, surrounding me in her grasp. And in truth, none of my attacks would have worked on her, in such a misty state, if not for the transparent blade that had appeared in my hand at some time.

And as I expected, not too far from me, her figure materialized again, causing her to fall to her feet. There was a similar gash on her shoulder, just like the one the mage suffered from. "What kind of weapon is that." It appeared invisible to the naked eyes as well as a spiritual one. It was one of those blades that was virtually impossible to find unless you carried the bloodline of Lakram.

It was an indestructible tooth that lacked any flashy ability, but its invisibility was its strength. And I had wanted to boast about this evil tooth to this lady, but the bullets rained down by the knights at the back won’t give me that opportunity.

Which was a big mistake on their part. "Go." With those words, I threw the blade toward one of the gun-wielding knights, who didn’t even notice his death until drips of blood flowed out of his forehead, and the same was true for the rest, who were surprised by the death of one of them so easily.

’When?’ The woman understood at this point. "Back off, his weapon is invisible." She said, looking toward the fallen soldier, wondering if the weapon was still lodged in his skull, but considering the confusion among the soldiers, it was easy to see that even they hadn’t found anything on his forehead.

"You." She seemed angered by the death, rushing towards me after sealing her wound. She used the same tactics as before, turning into a mist that surrounded me, but she never attacked at this point. "Beware of his hands, the blade is invisible and sharp." She instead warned her companion the mage.

Followed by her warning, what did attack me were multiple wolves, along with a giant wolf that used the cover of the mist to attack and disappear from time to time.

Such a tactic could really drain my stamina pretty fast and might just end me. That’s the issue in war, the moment your opponent learns of your methods, they can easily develop a way to deal with it.

It can be seen that these two never dared to face my hands at all, the mist would fly away at the swipe of my arms and the wolves would come to defend their master whenever I tried to attack him.

A conundrum to say the least, how to solve it? I must wonder.

On the other hand, Knight Genera, in her mist form where a single slash of her blades can turn into multiple was confused by one thing.

’Why is he still smiling.’ Due to Mage Blue Beast’s fighting style, he might not have time to notice the oddity, but she can see it all too well. She can see a hint of arrogance as if everything was under his control.

’Something is wrong.’ Call it a Knight’s sixth sense, but she knew that something odd was going on.

’So what if you are hiding something.’ She belonged to the lineage of Storm Hawks, a bird of legends that could merge itself with the very winds and cause havoc on the land.

It was a bird that was completely immune to most physical attacks and if that had been the case in this fight, the fight would have long ended. Sadly, her opponent’s strange weapon could harm her, which put her at passive.

But it didn’t mean she had no way to fight, if she wanted, she could burst out with her full strength and easily take this man down. But that smile of his creeped her out for some reason. The instinct she had cultivated all these years made it impossible for her to take that next step. That’s why she waited on the side, using Mage Blue beast as a pawn to force her opponent to show all his cards.

Or so was her plan originally.

"Huh?’ Suddenly, out of nowhere, even without any direct movement of her opponent’s hand, she found something lodged in her neck. ’Whhh..grr." The mist disappeared and her body appeared with a hole in her neck.

A hole which bled profusely. If she was a normal human, she would have long died, but with some concentration, the muscles around her neck contorted and closed up, preventing any further bloodless.

But this was merely a temporary measure.

"This bastard." Of course, seeing the situation going bad, Mage Blue Beast’s fur suddenly turned red, as multiple arms and heads of spirit wolves grew out of his nape.

A pure monster was born right in front of me. A perfect monster whose head I cut multiple times, but each time, a new head will take its place.

Which is why, I focused on his stomach. But this bizarre spirit monster sacrificed its multiple arms to defend against my attacks. Finally pushing me back and earning some time for his companion to deal with her injury.

"Sadly, you are just a mindless beast now." This was a berserk state of the Blue Beast. The only reason he could replace his heads multiple times was proof that he had reached a high level of spiritualization, where his physical self didn’t matter much to him anymore.

So even if my blade can cut his head, he can grow them out instantly.

Such a troublesome fella. But entertaining nonetheless.

It had been a while since I saw someone fight so menacingly with the vigor of an animal. And the one who did was not a Knight who are slave to their blood, but a Mage.

"Wonderful... you are far ahead of that woman," I spoke to this old man, that has lost himself in his transformation, before stabbing straight at his heart. "So I will give you a quick death." I was prone to showing mercy from time to time even against enemies that harmed the people that I liked.

And this mage just earned some of that mercy from me.

*Puchhi

With such a sound, his actions which have come to a halt didn’t see any chance of stopping. All that did change was a flow of blood that turned into mist as it touched the air, which made my smile bigger.

For a spiritual being, they still have a thing called a core which is the source of all their spiritual strength. Generally, most mages who can enter the spirit form would put it on their head, which was all they needed to cast spells.

Butt this mage ahead of me, was one of the rare melee mages, his body was his strength, so he didn’t hide the core after his transformation into his head, instead, he hid it in a place much more "secure" than his head, considering he was a mage with a powerful body.

Big mistake, as everything was clear to me easily.

"Die fast," I said to the beast that had turned lethargic, before moving a step back and then turning midair toward the other target, who seemed to have recovered and was aiming to help her dying companion.

"You monster." She sourced at me, her Blade shined with blue light as multiple wind blades flew out of her blade. But I easily deflected each of them, before turning my body midair like a ballet dancer, and then using my tail to swipe at the woman’s face, turning her blind in a single attack.

"Hah... aren’t I graceful?" I asked, before sighing. "Seems like I cut your eyes apart."

But it would seem I don’t have to remain so sad, as it would seem, she saw what I did. "You were holding the weapon with your tail." She asked in surprise and I nodded, of course, she couldn’t see it, nor could hear it probably as a wolf was dying behind me, crying in the air in pain.

So spoke, a bit loudly at that. "Good insight... and just for this. I will spare you." I say gleefully while severing her wrist before she can make any stupid moves, while ignoring her miserable cry filled with pain, I turned to look at the men she was protecting. "But I won’t leave them alone... an eye for an eye, you see."
