Chapter 442: 7.14.2 The tooth.
Forcefully enhancing my realm was simple with the boost provided by my ascendance. Although the part of me that ascended was mostly my Wraith form, from the very fact that one of my head was affected by the background of my current body,
A sort of connection between the two which I exploited to forcefully enter the ranks of Master much faster than I would have originally, giving me full access to the blood that my Master had so gracefully bestowed upon me.
"You, are a master?" The mage seemed horrified, even confused as he saw that his spirit wolves couldn’t even scratch my skin which had turned dark after some moment.
"A mage of contract, aren’t you people hiding behind the battlefront? Why is someone of your caliber here?" I asked, which was also a confirmation of my identity.
But the mage was not in the mood to converse with me, the one thing he did feel happy about was finally finding a target. "You should know more than these trashes." He spoke throwing the body of Henkel like a dishrag to the floor.
I could have easily saved them all, I could have saved Henkel if I wanted, but I didn’t due to my own curiosity, which has finally been satisfied.
So in return for all that Henkel let me experience, why should I take revenge for him?
So I jumped, my feet that appeared humane elongated, while my feet grew longer, breaking out of my boots. But that was not all the transformation that I experienced. Considering who my target was and the whole platoon on his back, I needed to be fast. So the legs of the monkey were not enough.
’Greater.’ The blood of Lakram, a shape-shifter who can ingrain the essence of other mortal creatures into itself and mimic them to some extent. But no matter how strong the mortal creatures get, they can never face the strength of transcendent beings or even animals.
So what did Lakram do? Well, I don’t know. What I do know is the combinations that unlock after entering the ranks of Master.
With the bulls’ vitality, I thickened my limbs and muscles, with the fishes, I grew thicker scales over my body and with the monkey’s, I grew a tail and longer limbs.
I appeared as a homunculi monster in the eye of the mage, who appeared confused, wondering what kind of bloodline I possessed and why I had shown signs of such distinct creatures all at once.
But was there a surprise on this mage’s face?
Not at all, instead, after watching me rush over to him, he went through a similar transformation.
Countless wolves from the air jumped from the air and entered his body one by one, causing him to get bigger and taller, growing animalistic features on his face as if he was going through a bloodline transformation.
"This." This mage.
I understood why this man was on the battlefield and I understood that the easy fight I had assumed before would turn very hard if I didn’t hit him hard and cancel whatever he was doing.
But it would assume, I was already too late.
With a booming sound, a bullet rushed past me, striking the ground, and causing an impact that appeared to explode it altogether.
But that was not all, as following the bullet, came a man with a blade pointing towards me. "A rat had entered our land." This woman that appeared easily stropped me with a single slash, which would have divided my arms, if not for the thick skin I currently possess.
"A master ranked Knight." She was not alone, there were multiple Knights, but with much weaker strength than her following from the back, it would seem that they would surround me in no time, and it would be the end of me.
"Haha... this is fun." But there was no need to fear this at all. This is what I wanted to begin with. This is the thrill of the fight I had so lacked all this time.
"You bastard, you think this is fun?" She appeared surprised by my voice, even offended while looking at the corpses of my men. "Your men died and this is all you got to say?" Oh, from her words, it doesn’t seem that she belonged to the military. Probably a genuine Knight who followed some old creed from a Noble family, who had been dragged to the war for the first time.
"Knight Genera, there is no need for you to concern yourself with what trash like this thinks... our job is to end him." Said the beastly man whose eyes were red with bloodlust.
The man was known as Mage Blue Beast and was prone to violence in the Tower of Contracts, which was one of the reasons he had been sent to the border to cool off from time to time. Not to mention, his ability also made him perfect for the battlefield to boot.
’He can still maintain his sanity?’ Both of them didn’t seem just any simple transcended beings. Both should have apt backgrounds.
"Truly perfect." there was no need for conversation with these people anymore, I was going to have some fun with them.
So with such a thought, I rushed ahead, using my claws to swipe at the Mage first and thinking he was the same as me, he did the same, meeting my claws with a bite of his sharp teeth. "Ho..." And all could say was. "How foolish.’ Instead of it being a slash, the movement of my hand changed mid-way, turning into a stand directly into the mouth of my enemy.
"Back off." The woman beside the mage warned, stabbing her black toward my body, which finally forced me to give up giving that old mage a devastating blow. "You..." But there was no time to complain, as the failure of bullets started to rain down on me from the adept-level knights that had approached the point at some time.
"Don’t fire blindly... look for opportunity." The woman ordered her men, warning them against getting closer, as she noticed the Knight who was her enemy seemed a bit too fast for his build, along with strength and defense that were out of this world.
And the more her swords clashed against his skin, the more she understood that she alone would have long been defeated, if not for the support of the Mage Blue Beast, who took the form of a werewolf with a spirit attack that he would shower from his body from time to time.
Keeping their enemy occupied and also giving the Knights behind them the chance to fire at him.
It’s been a minute since the start of the battle, and three minutes since these intruders were exposed, she understood that by this time, the logistics soldiers must have informed the headquarters and there might be others who might be rushing to come here for backup.
So, even if she couldn’t defeat this durable enemy on her own, someone else will.
’Just need to keep him occupied.’ This was her intention from the start, otherwise, she would have used the true talent of her bloodline long ago, which might have turned this whole fight bloody.
"A minute, that’s how long it’s been." But I was in no mood to play in the hands of this Knight, nor that mage, who acted as if he had played all his cards, but I understood from the calm of his face, that he still didn’t consider me a threat.
"I wonder what your names are." I suddenly asked the two, curious about who these people were.
"Names are not important to the dead." She spoke, considering me a loser. Well, not like I can’t understand her.
Looking over my body, although there had been no deep injuries, there were lots of places where the scales of my body had fallen down, exposing the red flesh beneath me.
Mind you, I had the leather off a bull, it should have been harder for them to break through my defenses so easily. But the volley of bullets along with the two master class enemies that fought in a conservative manner to waste my time and prevent me from running away still caused enough damage to me.
’Two bones fractured as well.’ I was well aware of the state of my body as well as my fighting style, which did developed after practical lessons and some real-life experiences, it still can’t compare to the experts who have trained for years.
In a way, I can be considered only a fake Master Rank existence, nothing more.
’So what if I am less skillful than them?’
I smiled at the two, looking at them, along with the people behind them. "Do you know, I had another job besides this one," I spoke to the two, who perked up their ears, giving the signal to their men to not shoot anymore.
"So you are giving up?’ The girl asked, thinking the reason I said those words was due to my loss, but that was not the case.
"I came here to destroy the occult department of the mage institute, along with the bones of a specific prince that dared to not listen to me." All my words did was confuse the two, wondering if I was someone crazy.
Well, they were not wrong. "Come to me," I said, in the air, lifting my arm. Causing my enemies to put up their guard, thinking I was pulling some dangerous move.
Nothing ended up happening, or so it appeared to the two. "Well, enough chit-chat, let’s fight for real." taunting the two, I called them out, requesting a proper battle.
But why should they listen, a lone Master rank was no threat to them.
Maybe, that was the reason the first injury surfaced over the body of the mage. "My... " A giant slash on his stomach, causing a piece of his intestine to fall out hanging from his stomach.
