Chapter 417: 7.08.1 Burn him.

The language of the man appeared gibberish to Selene, but she could barely make out some words in it that meant nothing in her mind. It felt more like a dead language.

But Selene could understand it all the same. And with the lack of magic in the air, she knew that this was not due to some magic at play. And being a scholar of dark arts, Selene was well aware of what this all signified.

’A being much higher than Blue Rose.’ Blue Rose was the Daemon of Incarnation. The words she spoke were bearable, while her existence noticeable by strong individuals. And of course, this all was due to Blue Rose only using a puppet to interact with the mortal realm, while the true self hides in a plane that is harder for Selene or even Jester to fathom.

But for this man, doing the very same things that Blue Rose did? He still can’t hide the oddity that was his whole existence. ’A god.’

"This is Lord Emotion, the patron of our nation." Orvillia introduced the man, never speaking his name nor did she speak of what kind of patron he was. But with her intelligence, it was easy for Selene to understand what this man’s purpose was.

’It makes sense now.’ Their nation of Yethel was a weak nation controlled by countless warlords who exploited this land and provided other nations a platform for discussions.

And besides some family and their totems, there was never a god that would ever validate any single individual to rule over this chaotic land. No god or church bothered with such land due to the effort it might take to bring it all to peace.

But when the nation was built with Ikaros at the center, many churches suddenly showed interest, all of which were denied by Selene’s father. The result, one can already see what happened after it.

’We need a patron so that no one dares to do a thing.’ That was what her uncle used to say. To find a backing capable of suppressing the stronger forces in Cynark at bay. And it would seem her uncle had succeeded.

And only due to Lord Emotions protection, did Orvillia green-lit the Ballistic Project, whose results were easy to notice.

’No wonder those arrogant bastards didn’t dare to fight us and only brought their War Fortress as a deterrent.’

Selene thought of her as a fool to not see it straight before. Why would the War Fortress be brought to the border of Yethel instead of acting as a deterrent against Sumire, which was a direct pawn of the Land of Azad?

This explains it all. Only a country with the backing of a god would force Cynark to make such a move.

"I am not so small-minded to care about such a thing Orvillia." The man replied, before turning to Selene and explaining. "As for your uncle. Don’t worry, nothing happened to him... Instead, it’s time for celebration." Lord Words sounded rash and offensive to the ears of Selene.

’What does he mean by celebration?’ Her uncle disappeared out of nowhere and this being is saying that it is time for celebrations?’ But Selene held her thoughts in. She was not impulsive and only had one life, unlike her uncle. So she can’t afford to make mistakes. "I wonder what is the reason for departure?" So She asked an obvious question, trying to understand the reason why her uncle departed or whether there was truly something worthwhile to celebrate.

And Lord Emotion didn’t hide, he directly spoke with big words. "Your uncle is not a Totem."

Remira came to the place as was asked and found Majdar not too far away from her.

This was the apprentice training hall where Remira first began her training after Pierta had brought her to this place. A woman that is long dead, just like the rest of her family.

’At least mother survived.’ She sighed, looking around this place with some nostalgia before turning to look at her old instructor, who seemed to be happy to see her here on time. "You haven’t forgotten your manners." The time was 11:55 of night, meaning that Remira came a bit earlier than the established time.

Which was a habit she had adapted due to this old instructor of hers.

"It’s something you instilled in me with constant beating, making it almost a habit for me." There was no time for much pleasantries or the need to talk about the old days.

What needed to be discussed was the issue of Remira’s curiosity.

"Osana, listen well and listen carefully. For the things I am going to discuss are not known to the public" Calling out her false name, Majdar attracted Remira’s full attention, before he spoke about the forbidden cave System that went by the name of Cave of Truth or Apotheia’s Cave of wonders.

Apotheia the goddess of truth and lies. She was the god of merchants and thieves. The patron of the majority of banks as well as even holding a level of influence in the judiciary due to her domain.

Her own followers called her with kinder names as the Truthful Deceit. The church used lies for the betterment of mankind. Or so they claim.

"But this cave system had nothing to do with the goddess. The cave earned its name due to the things one experiences once they enter it."

To which Remira recalled what the man said and wondered. "Sounds and visions of your inner self?"

"Yes, and you might think it’s not harmful. But there are loads of cases where many went mad just being on the periphery of the caves due to the simple fact that they couldn’t come to terms with their inner truth."

"But those with strong will, like us Radiant Knights could easily explore it and reach even deeper and see what was the source of all this corruption." At this point, Majdar turned silent. "I was one of them and the man you met today, your senior found a journal I kept during my exploration days, and he dared to venture inside, hoping to find some riches."

The Journal he spoke about had many secrets, but due to the very fact that what he witnessed was not made for mortal appreciation, most of the warnings he wrote in the journal disappeared with time. A sign that all that knowledge and information was not to be exposed to the world outside.

And considering that most important things were already dealt with. And due to his old memories and desire to keep the memories who lost their lives during those days alive. Majdar never turned in the journal and kept reading the little parts that remained, all in an effort to reminisce about the past.

Of course, this habit might have been the reason why Rota found the book and stole it. "I thought it was lost, and I never bothered looking for it."

But now, one thing can be confirmed it was Rota that stole it. And due to the same ignorance as he had all those years ago, he caused some irreparable damage to himself. "I was not on patrol that day when it all transpired, my seniors were the first to reach the bottom and came across a simple black slate. After which they started to see some weird things." The Things in the sky as Rota had cried before.

Which Remira couldn’t understand completely, but if what she heard from Rota was correct. Those things, they always there, just hoping for someone to notice them.

"What are these things, I believe the teacher must have explored it all to learn of the reason?" She asked, but Majdar could only shake his head in denial. "3 of our seniors died crying about the weird things in the sky, the remaining ones turned blind in order to escape those things and retired."

"It’s why the place was considered forbidden to speak about." Majdar planned to speak about how the seniors died, all in an effort to scare Remira. But no words came out of his mouth. "Is it a vow?"

Remira asked, but Majdar just shook his head. "I remember nothing of their deaths, just before and after."

Too odd, Remira knew that something was odd. But all these warnings let her understand one thing.

Whatever was in that ruin was too dangerous for her to explore. It’s good that her teacher came and stopped her before she fell for the words of that old senior of hers.

So Remira bowed to Majdar, knowing how much it must have hurt him to recall all those painful memories and the horror he had experienced. How he was putting himself in danger to speak about such a harrowing but obviously forbidden event that should never come to the light of the day. As it was a massive operation failure on Radiant Order’s end.

And when Remira had left the scene, Majdar walked for a bit before coming across a man who he was very familiar with. "Sir." He said to the man while bowing.

"Is it done? How did she take your words?"

"It’s as you requested, she won’t dare go there. Not so early at least."

"Good, we can’t afford to lose her so early, and this is not the time yet." Before he turned to Majdar and sighed. "As for your mistake, It’s really disappointing. Find that old student of yours and burn him along with that journal. Otherwise, I would have to take matters into my own hands."
